My opinion is "genius". Chris Cornell still knows how to rock. However, he has shown the world that he has evolved as a musician. My musical interests span many genres and there is nothing Chris has put out that I don't like. This one is my favorites from his "Scream" album. Learn to expand your musical horizons and then tell me something negative about this legendary musician.
If Evolution was fact, then it would be scientific law. Scientific laws are absolute, & infallible. Clearly Evolution isn't. Get over it & stop proselytizing your beliefs & just enjoy the music.

I get what you're saying, but the thing is that once you've already made millions, and have millions coming in every month in royalty checks from Audioslave, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, and previous solo records, you don't exactly NEED to sell out. He's actually taking a bigger risk in losing his fan base by making an R&B/Pop driven record being that us rock fans tend to be the most critical.
Great song, the evolution of his voice just fits perfect with the changes in his outlook on return of music with good rhythm. We all slow down a little with age, even though ten years ago i would have hated this song, I also loved the intro for life on mars, as well as the show.
its not that this is a bad song, but i just think that if he expanded on the instrumental part this would sound better. His vocals are great, but they work even better when there is the music backing it up, instead of the same incessant beat. That's why i like "scream", because the music fluctuates with his voice, making the song as a whole more powerful

Alot of people don't get the concept of musical evolution, as demonstrated in loads of these comments. Mr. Cornell has gotten to a point where he's got nothing to prove. He's already established himself as an incredible vocalist and songwriter, so why should he keep writing Soundgarden and Audioslave songs? You know what happens when you don't evolve? Nickelback happens.

I get what you're saying, but the thing is that once you've already made millions, and have millions coming in every month in royalty checks from Audioslave, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, and previous solo records, you don't exactly NEED to sell out. He's actually taking a bigger risk in losing his fan base by making an R&B/Pop driven record being that us rock fans tend to be the most critical.

Great song, the evolution of his voice just fits perfect with the changes in his outlook on return of music with good rhythm. We all slow down a little with age, even though ten years ago i would have hated this song, I also loved the intro for life on mars, as well as the show.

its not that this is a bad song, but i just think that if he expanded on the instrumental part this would sound better. His vocals are great, but they work even better when there is the music backing it up, instead of the same incessant beat. That's why i like "scream", because the music fluctuates with his voice, making the song as a whole more powerful

At first , I thought it was so different from what we are used to hear from him.. I couldn't believe it! But this guy is a music genious, his talent is too big! If you are not yourself limited to one kind of music, take the time to listen to this entire album a couple of times... The more I listen to it, the more I love it,. You can't just say that CC's new songs are not good, it.s just an addition to what he already does... Open your mind to other styles of music, it will just feed your mind!

I love the new album. I listen to it as a Chris Cornell fan. Not just as a fan of soundgarden or audioslave. Chris is a fantastic vocalist no matter what type of music he sings. And Timbaland's beats are always fire no matter how many times he say "eh" in them.

Chris Cornell is doing to music as a whole what Jimi Hendrix did to a guitar. Its just wow. If you want to compare his past albums to his newer ones then you need to open your mind a little. Have you even purchased the CD? It has some songs that will blow you away. For someone who went from Soundgarden, to Temple of the Dog, to Audio Slave, to a solo album, AND THEN to producing something with Timberland... I think the guy has got it figured out and I also think you are stupid.

i cant stand this stuff. especially compared to his other work with soundgarden, and Audioslave. I have no problem with him exploring new musical areas, but the problem is it just sounds horribley forced and MAINSTREAM. it sounds like most other hiphop and rnb stuff out there. i cant stand timbaland. gahhh.

It does seem mainstream, I am a huge metal head, but Chris Cornel has a very distinct voice that is able to blend with most, if not all, musical styles. So, yeah this is a different approach to music for him, but he is incredible all the same.

I know it is not what we expected but I for one still love CC and would listen to him signing the alphabet. He always has been class and continues to be so.
