It's your imagination. First of all, the name Arkham Asylum was inspired by the name of the town (and the asylum) written about in H.P. Lovecraft's old stories from the 1930's. In the Batman comics, it's been written about decades before Mark Hammill ever did voice over work for either the animated show, or the video game.

He was probably typecast. Think of how well known Star Wars is and remember he was the main character essentially of the first trilogy. People see him in interviews and they still say "Luke" instead of calling him "Mark" and its been 30+ years since Star Wars. Imagine how hard it must have been for him in 1980 or 1985 or even 1990.
