In the larger context, Rush goes on to describe a specific instance of a phony soldier. You see, this individual falsified information and got sent to the "big house" for it. He was only in the Army for 40+ days but completely lied about this, about the rank he attained, and about what he witnessed in Iraq. In other words, he was a phony soldier.

The video was shot at Tarnak Farm, the walled compound where bin Laden was known to live. If Clinton had bin Laden in sights in real time, why was no action taken?
B.) Gary Schroen, a former CIA station chief in Pakistan, says the White House required the CIA to attempt to capture bin Laden alive, rather than kill him. Bill Clinton exaggerated his record when it came to strategizing against Osama bin Laden. Despite Clinton's angry assertion ("I worked hard to try and kill him") to Chris Wallace in last year's controversial Fox interview, he never gave the CIA an assassination order regarding bin Laden.
wittumy: During Clinton's interview with Chris Wallace, Clinton mentioned Richard Clarke's name 11 times. Clinton said Clarke's book told of Clinton's comprehensive work to protect the country against terrorism. Clarke's book, IN FACT, does not support Clinton's claim. Clarke's book pretty much supports the conventional wisdom: that the Clinton Administration passed on several chances to either apprehend or kill bin Laden during the 1990s.
wittumy: It is known that Clarke's book full of infatuations and lies. Clarke says Clinton tried to "convince - as opposed to, say, order, U.S. military and intelligence agencies to kill bin Laden. Clarke then states that when those agencies 'refused to act', Clinton gave up." According to Clarke's pro-Clinton view, the reason why the president was stymied by Republican opposition.
D.) Bob Kerry, a former senator and current 9/11 commission member, said, "The most important thing the Clinton administration could have done would have been for the president, either himself or by going to Congress, asking for a congressional declaration to declare war on al-Qaida, a military-political organization that had declared war on us." He didn't do it.
E.) On at least three separate occassions,foreign governments actually offered to hand him over on a silver platter - but the Clinton White House refused to accept him.

In "Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001", written by Steve Coll, Coll raises doubts about the truth of whether Sudan actually offered to arrest bin Laden and hand him over to the U.S. (while Clinton was president).
wittumy: Cole states there there is "lack of evidence". Who did Cole get his information from? SANDY BERGER... the one who took and destroyed information about what the Clinton administration did and knew about AQ and bin Laden from the National Archives!
(a) In 1996, when bin Laden was living in Sudan, the Sudanese government offered to extradite him to the U.S. or allow U.S. forces to seize him there. But the Clinton White House failed to accept the offer, believing there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute bin Laden.
(b) In 2000, while bin Laden was hiding in Afghanistan, an Arab official made a back-channel offer to produce the wanted terrorist en exchange for the U.S. setting up an Afghanistan relief fund. Again, after a series of diplomatic gaffes, the Clinton administration declined.
c.) Throughout the late 1990's, a secret Special Forces team was prepared to attack and kill bin Laden and often had accurate information on his whereabouts. Nevertheless, Clinton never gave the group a go-ahead, choosing instead to launch a botched attack with unmanned cruise missiles.
(d) In 1996, the Sudanese government came under intense pressure from the U.S. "Sudan's President Omar alBashir was eager to end U.S, sanctions against his country for harboring terrorist and I persuaded him to offer to arrest and deport bin Laden," Mansoor Ijaz, chairman of a New York investment firm told the investigators in a exclusive interview.

For those of you who have not gotten the facts (either by accident or on purpose), the "Phony Soldiers" comment was taken out of context. In the larger context, Rush goes on to describe a specific instance of a phony soldier. You see, this individual falsified information and got sent to the "big house" for it. He was only in the Army for 40+ days but completely lied about this, about the rank he attained, and about what he witnessed in Iraq. In other words, he was a phony soldier.
