I heard it live in the fall of 84. Small venue maybe 2000 seats. It was durring the T-N-T tour. My girlfriend bought me the tickets for my B-Day and got seats about 20 feet from stage on the aisle. I don't mind saying when he did this it was all everyone could do not to tear up. I dang sure did. Never be another BLUE. R.I.P. Melvin
35tck i think everybody wish they could sing that low. God blesses us with great voices like this and we r just honored to have heard melvins voice. King of the bass
The harmonies.......My God, the vocal harmonies of the Temptations have had a magnetizing effect on me for over 40 years! It is quite simply, what they do, BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE EVER HAS.......period! When God called Melvin Franklin home, he added the greatest Bass voice in the history of R&B/Soul/Pop/Country/Classical.......Whatever! Melvin was appreciated as much for his effervescent personality as he was for his truly unique talent. May the Heavenly Father bless his memory......eternally.
In the 60's I had all their albums and they stayed on my turn table. My favorite by far was Melvin. Such a unique person, that voice that beats all other bass singers, those big expresive eyes and a child like quality to his personality, and a loyal friend, not only to otis but to all the Temps. You are greatly missed Blue.
Melvin suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, and necrotizing fascitis (a disease that destroys skin tissue; it eats away at the flesh.)
On February 17, 1995, Melvin fell into a coma and died 6 days later of a brain seizure. He left behind a wife (Kimberly) and 4 children (David Jr., Shirlene, Felicia, and Davette)
Melvin u da man in every sense of the word !!!! The Temptation once again show how multi talented they were and always will be. They were one of kind. Melvin you were the foundation!!! Rest in Peace my friend next times time one of those rain stroms starts and rumblin thunder rolls in, I will simply say, Melvin that was a beautiful bass line, I hear you my brotha !!!!
aggabor:you must be sick or living in another galaxy. Sinatra had nothing to do compared to this REAL SINGERS.We know that mainstream showbizz is controled by white people. They had no choice but to accept that black people were making beautifull music, that's why Motown became important it was a machine making money for the big white shots.
Sinatra was just a so-so singer that was a good organizer for the italian mob.The person that doesn't know that is simple ignorance
I just said my opinion! No need for getting personal! I think I didn't say anything about you! I just love Sinatra and I loved this song in his style more! I didn't say this is bad or anything, just that I love Sinatra better! And he CAN sing, and not just so so! Respect him, please! He had nothing to do with you or me! He just sang songs! And I don't care what he was in the mob or where! I just love him as a singer and nothing else matters to me! I don't judge just listen! :D
Miss u, dad. No one will ever do it better.

This is god, but Frank Sinatra is the best with this song! He sings it so simple, yet it grows to be a maze! Bu as I said this is good to!
