'A vessel sink on an island in Turkey. and the entire crew died except one man. he and all the money saved. But the ghosts of the crew, will be chasing him. When he danced with a turkish song, ghosts of his friends came and take him to the hell...'This is the story of this song or not???
@cerenimoon Well, the song doesn't get too specific about what happened. All we know for sure is the ship sank, the dude got himself safe while leaving his shipmates to die. The captain and crew are with the other guy come to get revenge. I think the other guy also survived, but only barely. No particular reason to think he's alive, just makes sense to me that the spirits would need a living person to hunt down their victim, why they're all lying in wait and he's not
Hollywood is quite good with the aesthetics and imagery...it's the slimy film that is Holowood's agenda and the way they so dumb things down so the average fool can digest it that turns me away.
Shane McGowan tells the story. He was listening to some radio station abroad when some listener asked for "Turkish Song" by The Damned; the DJ didn't know of the band, so he said that he was unable to find "Turkish Song of the Damned", and who sung it anyway. So Shane decided it would have been nice to write a "Turkish Song of the Damned".
this song is obviously inspired by the rime of the ancient mariner by Coleridge, and Coleridge was an opium addict. Because he suffered from a very painful disease.
are you really german there are millions of turkish live in there thats odd anyways the intro is oriental and the things about smoking opium and so on....
Maybe "Another Bag of Bricks" isn't so much of a rip-off, but a homage to their heroes. I hear the similarities, but there are distinct differences as well. Kind of like listening to Denis Leary before you've heard of Bill Hicks.
nothing in deed, in the early 80's the pogues were in germany playing some gigs. One fan asked Shane if he liked "the turkish song" by the damned. He just borrowed the that sentence for the title, the turkish song of the damned.
This song is about a sailor who has smoked opium for the first time in a Turkish opium den, it's the Turkish song of the damned because he knows that he's addicted and it'll kill him
it only took me a couple of seconds to think of Another Bag Of Bricks. Im a huge Molly fan and i love that song, but i actually like this version better the original version apparently)
A great song here.. does anyone else think flogging molly's another bag of bricks sounds alot like this, or is it just me? obviously this came before, just pointing out similarities
Yeah - The Pogues are a huge influence on Molly. Like "Sentimental Johnny" sounds very much like the Pogues' "Fiesta" ... there are even vids comparing those two sets of songs.
hehe well it's good you noticed the similarities. For me anyway it's hard to miss ... Molly're great but Pogues are better and Molly should be the first to admit that I imagine! Any way FM rock as well.
They ruined the movie with the whole Leo/Diaz romance. They could have used that wasted time to develop bill's character a bit more. And that would have been 10 times more interesting than any romance between those two.
Collin Farrel would've sucked in this movie. Leo is an arrogant son of a bitch, but you have to give credit where credit's due. He's a brilliant actor.
They said the woman was wailing away "while you danced to the Turkish song of the damned." They never said this music WAS the Tursish song of the damned.
the song isnt turkish everybody knows that nobody lies to you little boyy no worries everythings gonna be allright now go to bed dont cry (i think he is retarded)
I don't think this is playing in stereo. It's the same version as the album, but a channel or track or whatever you call them seems to be missing. Maybe there's some limit on the posting.

Perfect Scenes for This Song! They Ruined The Movie By Casting Leonardo Dicaprio. I wasn't buying him at all.

yeah Leonardo Dicaprio did not do a good job with that role. they should have gotten Colin Farrel at least he's irish.
