Hi, nice video. I'm interested in hiring you to produce similar animations for me. What kind of fees would you charge? If interested please contact me trimahon at gmail dot com. Take care and Keep up the good work!
@Pasko70 Yes! Very similar. But Inventor is much user friendlier and has a good analizing system, which i think ProE lacks... In short: Inventor RULEZ! :D
Ok, so I realize that not everyone speaks English as a first language but some of you Idiots need to learn how to properly express yourselves. You will never become engineers if you cannot even construct a proper sentence.
My dad had a car with a radial engine in it... It was a freakin fast car until one day one a piston messed up and he was going to replace until the people who carried the parts wanted like $1,000-$2,000 can't remember the price but i was somewhere in there so he got rid of it :*(
completely different thing. i'm assuming he had a mazda (probably a rx-2 or 3) with a wankel. a wankel is a rotary engine, not a radial engine, and what got messed up was probably an apex seal. a radial engine makes no sense on a car.
wow..how the hell did u do this? i'm doign mechanical engg and in 2 end.i goign to design are hybrid vehicles, can u tell me on which platorform i should design it on ? autocad inventor or pro engineering? i have used autocad a bit... but my uni recommends pro engineering.
@Hiddenjello it does. last i checked american airlines can take you from texas to illinois in 2.5 hours, give or take depending on the weather, that works out to like 500 mph :O two engines of cours.... that works out to 250 mph :) kool shit, i definatley want to bild an airplane someday, but id rather use an engine that was already made :D
Was this engine built in Inventor, are plans or solid files available? I own a complete workshop including 5 axis mill and I'm looking for a model radial project... thanks. John
@jetpower06 It's not a supercharger. It's an impeller that mixes the air-fuel mixture from the carburetor, before it is distributed to the cylinders, via the intake manifold--the orange-coloured pipes at the beginning of the clip 0:02-0:-04.
Because the air-fuel mixture was more thoroughly mixed before it entered the long inlet tract, combustion efficiency was comparatively improved. It should be noted that radials didn't run at high revs, to not overrun the propeller or need unreliable and power-sapping reduction gearing, which is why the large capacities. The introduction of fuel-injection was an improvement, and necessary for multi-banked radials, like the Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major, with its 56 spark plugs to clean :-)
Cool idea? These were the first aircraft engines from WWI (1914-1918) to after WWII (1939-1945). There not an idea their the grandfathers of all modern plane engines.
@Numblove you stupid moron, not practical? triljon of these engines are already build and used when everything was still black and white.i even believe that radials are more efficient then inlines because of the everything on one crank principle.
@robbedoes1985 I doubt they're any more efficient than an inline engine, given equal sophistication of combustion chamber and port design, rather the contrary, because there are layout constraints to the ports that you don't have with an inline. The good things about them, in an aircraft application, is that they work well at low revs, they provide equal cooling for all cylinders in air-cooled applications, and they provide huge swept volume at quite low weight, meaning good power to weight.
@johngrimezy Hey you fucking don't know what you are talking about mate, it's only a >>>JOKE<<<. You don't need to waste 10 seconds of your typing, oh wait, 10 minutes of typing if you have a poor typying wpp. Guess what, I got a free AC2010 with a lifetime license, not the LT the real thing, straight directly from the AD CEO Carl Bass. Haha, I am a winner asshole.
i´ve seen one similar in action. Biggest and i think eventually the only problem was the heat. Worked great and was powerful engine compared to it´s weight, but they couldn´t fix the overheating problem..
That is soooooooooooooooo cool! I'm taking an AutoDesk Inventor class right now at my high school and I think that's amazing...of coarse that may not be saying much coming from a kid who just learned how to use the extrude feature. lol

This engine would not work! you forgot about oil and lubrication of the cylinders! In all types of star engines the cylinders spin around the shaft Clockwise or counter clockwise (to increase power) with the rotor.
Im only 17 years old and I'm doing a 9CRAE just like this one and I've got to do it in 18 weeks, about 1:30 min of work a day not including weekends. That means we have 135 hours to get it done. It contains about 90 different parts. If you like doing this sort of work (like me) then it won't take you that long. I'm very impressed with his work and I cant wait till mine is done. I think im on my 5th week and I'm already half way done! Nice job and good luck on future projects.
that is great! i can't imagine the amount of time you spent on that. Anyone know of any good docs to get me started doing this type of thing? I have alot of ideas in my head and i'd like to be able to visualise them with this type of program, i just don't know where to begin.

awesome, i was just watching a doc on the ford tri motor superwasp, one of the early public passenger planes, predicessor of the rotary engine which if made too big would rip the front of the engine off, big giroscope basically...yea radial engine's are quite significant in air flight
Does anyone have any cool projects they could share like engines or stuff so I could see how they are made and assembled or does anyone have any tuts?
It really didn't power every aircraft during that period. The Spitfire, for example, was made before WWII began and featured a V12, and was very successful and extremely significant in combat aircraft history. well if you are a student or educator the program is free for non commercial use. All you have to do is go to autodesk's web site and sign up free of charge
No sir. All aircraft radial engines have a master connecting rod to which the slave rods connect. Just think about how long the rod journal on your crankshaft would have to be if you had that many rods connected to it. See if you can find a manual for a Pratt & Whitney R2800 (used in the F6F F4U1 and P47 amongst many other famous American WWII planes). eBay is a good source for these vintage manuals.
Can you give me the drawing and the full animation and assembly? pleasse,

Very Nice.
I repaired 450 HP Radial engines, and very little is out there that shows the internal workings.
The Crankshaft view was very good, but when you see the the detail of the cam that runs the valve train.
That alone used to blow my mind even when it was in my hand.
The built in Super Charger on the rear won the war. These engines stacked and staggered 4 deep back to back, as B29's.
I'd love to have this sample on file.

if you want to use this software and you are in highschool you might have an option:
if your highschool has a engineering course"Project Lead The Way" then they use this software
If you dont then you could probualy work it out with your district to get a program like this running because the government pays for it.

Good design, But the radial engines the rods connect directly to crankshaft.
CealeX 4 years ago

All constraints were active. The entire animation was driven by simply rotating the crankshaft.

when you animated your engine, were the constraints still in place or did you animate all the parts individually?

Amazing. Do you have an operational prototype?
