  • copy cat of Ireland!

  • @bawden16 there been using these since the 70's -_-

  • @GayBoyRunning - but not with the sound effects - that's only been with us since the 90s.

  • that's not annoying! sounds like the fire alarm that went off in our hotel on new years morning. 3am!

  • This is what its like to be a primitive brought into the city and experience a traffic light for the first time.

  • Why do people to call each other names when expressing opinions?

    Group hugs needed?

  • @Mattcrowley2a Why is that a good thing? It shows you have no consideration for blind or visually impared people in your country

  • @Mattcrowley2a It's for people who are crossing that are blind or visually impaired

  • @Mattcrowley2a

this doesnt actually sound like one. im australian and the sound is distorted.

  • @Mattcrowley2a Actually, I did a little tour of the USA recently and I found that they have a similar system in Berkeley, CA.

  • Its very similar to a NZ one, though nz and a slightly lower tune.

  • The Australian walk signs act the same way as the ones here in the USA do

  • its for the blind - guide dogs are trained to know the noise of "go" and "stop"

  • @Maxmouse922 And if they hear the one going off next to them, mashed blind man and dog.

  • @mubd1234

The circle which has the arrow in it vibrates so you can also tell when the beeps are (if you're blind).

  • NZ crossings are exactly the same.

  • The first time I heard one of these in Auckland, New Zealand, I thought that they were programmed to sound like a kiwi for tourists. It is actually a good design because when it is activated, it beeps regularly so you know the button worked.

Incidentally, the small stop sign means to stop if there is a signal failure, hence the three black dots.

  • Closer examination of the grammar of the original sentence will prove it not to be ambiguous, when read with the French subtitle in the information area at right.Royal Parks and Gardens

  • That little red man could be arrested for flashing.

  • I didn't see an Australian pedestrian crossing.

  • That is an aussie pedestrian crossing

  • I don't see an Aussie crossing the street. Or anyone else, for that matter.
