@petelovesbevsills Yes Christo du Plessis is about 8 years older than me and was recorded on one of the 3 Queens, but I don't recall which one. What a waste of a glorious bass voice as he stopped singing and went more into the antiques trade.

Beverly sills andò incontro ad un'innegabile declino a partire dal 1974, a causa dei ruoli forse un po' pesanti per la sua voce (si pensi, ad esempio, ad Anna Bolena ed Elisabetta nel Devereux). Qualcuno sostiene anche che cantasse con i centri un po' aperti. C'è da tenere conto che la Sills divenne famosa a livello internazionale solo nel '69, molto dopo i suoi inizi. CI siamo persi forse gli anni migliori, a livello di registrazioni, come, in fondo, testimonia questo audio.
