The real reason for addiction is the selfish act of a society wanting an"instant" high with a steep come down. Whereas in life you get natural highs then gradual come downs.
I came from an incredibly shit life but chose to work hard at shit jobs, go to college at nights, meet a fair few smack heads along the way of hostels and street sleeping. 22 now and have a place with my gf, a sports car etc
I chose to have a shitty come down of a teenage life to get my high in my early twenties.
i think the problem with having a harder time to quit cigarettes is bc it's legal, easy to get and people smoke around u. like u walk down the street u see some one smoking it and it triggers. or if u enter an elevator and some one has smoked a cigarette and the smell is left there it triggers people. A person who is trying to quit should stay away from it however u can never stay away from cigarettes. some where u'll see it in some one's hand and there u go relapsing.
just gotta stay away from those triggers. i'm clean 10years now but only by the grace of methadone. if you want a life get in treatment on methadone and stay away from former freinds and users.
I don't think nicotine is a harder to quit that other drugs. Its just that nicotine isnt as bad as say heroin or crack, so they use nicotine to cope with the addiction they cant persue anymore.
no way that Brian White is 17 years old. He looks 40. Usually Heroin addicts look younger than they are, unless they live on the streets and don't take care of themselves
nicotine?come on guys...you never sold your body to smoke a cigarrete....you never went to jail because of cigarrete...you never stealed because you were searching money to take cigarretes...HEROIN IS THE WORST THING COULD EVER HAPPEN TO YOU...
I have 2 friends, one was a former heroin addict, the other a former crack addict. Both quit the drugs, yet they still couldn't quit cigarettes, and agree cigarettes is the hardest habit to quit. Nicotine is one EXTREMELY addictive drug.
i think nicotine is harder to kick. its easily accessible, totally legal and becomes compulsive via boredome, stress etc etc. heroin is illegal, expensive and the withrawal is terrible but more people smoke cigarettes than do heroin...you are constantly surrounded by smokers where as heroin is in certain areas
I've heard quite a lot of heroin addicts say they'd rather quit heroin than cigarettes and nicotine has a higher addiction rate than heroin. That means more people who try nicotine for the first time will go on to abuse it than those that try heroin once will go on with that. Lots of legal drugs are incredibly dangerous, tobacco we know, ibuprofen - a safe painkiller right? no, very dangerous, causes renal bleeding. Dependence is not an easy thing to deal with no matter what substance it is.
I have been hooked on nicotine for 16yrs, which I may add is more harder to kick than heroin and I dont blame anyone else for that. I was fully aware of the addictiveness when I started yet I was still stupid enough to try. Admit it was ur own stupidity then u maybe stand a chance of kicking it!!!!!!!!!!!
Despite my other post, I would argue heroin is harder to kick than nicotine. People start takign drugs for many many reasons and it's nto always as clear cut as "stupidity". Indeed for some people their heroin use is harm reduction, it shields them from far worse things in their life. You stand a chance of overcoming dependence when you decide you want to; berating yourself for your own stupidity is not a good start though. Understanding your choices and actions is however...
