I fell so terrible even for spending my time to answer...

Listen to the music or leave us alone.

  • The piece is OK. The style doesn't fit at all with the time period. For all of you that keep saying this is the most amazing thing ever... I happy you like it, but keep looking, I think you'll be pleased with so many other pieces the world has to offer.

  • Thumbs up if you tried playing the piano in real life and in the top comment lol.

  • it gets to your heart

  • You can define the past and character of someone by what they like to play and listen to

  • Guys guys guys, it's not called a "song"; there's no singing involved. It's called a piece.

  • awesome awesome and awesome !!!

  • I listen to this so much... it's absolutely breathtaking.

  • how many names does this song have?

  • If this song isn't perfection...nothing is.

  • Everyone comparing this to classical composers, just stop. It's not even remotely similar. Yes, it's a great song, and its very moving, but it isn't classical. It's minimalist. So its kinda the opposite of bach, beethoven, etc. Nice try though.

  • Fantastic!!

  • I think the film won the "Palme d'or" in Cannes because of soundtrack and this amazing scene. Otherwise, it's pretty boring...

  • Great !!!!

  • well,that's amazing!

  • one of the most beautifull music comps i have ever heard, it touches your soul.

  • The woman who plays this song for me on piano is the woman I'll marry.

  • At night I often think about my piano resting in the ocean grave, and sometimes also about themselves trapped on a rope over it. Perfect stillness and silence, which exist in the depths, rock me to sleep. Ghost is a lullaby, ghastly, but mine... - from book.

  • The worst part of the movie "1:41"

  • her fingers look awesome at the end i love that shot

  • how sad it makes me want to cry

  • I LIKE THIS MUSIC

    乾いたピアノの音。{日本}

    乾燥的琴聲。{中國}

  • Holly Hunter is DEFINITELY multi-talented...Woah.

  • Mega ujmujące!!!!!

  • I don't think there are any words in any language to describe the feelings that overwhelm me while I listen to this music.....

  • It's a wonderful piece, but also written very simply- from what I HEAR. I've played around with arpeggiated chords, and essentially this is what the song is. I always love a piece that is both simple and sounds amazing. If you minimize the difficulty in terms of technical level, then you get rid of a lot of work. You can focus on the music itself!

  • AT EVERYONE WHO PLAY PIANO:

IF you have to rate this song...

how hard is it to play ?

    10 = the hardest

    1= lame, borging, to easy

    ?

  • @susi619 probably around 8 for me its pretty hard

  • @susi619 depends how long you've been learning

  • @susi619 If you have the ability to play music "by ear"then you may create youre version of the song and propably like it but if you want to learn this exactly as it is,it is my belief you have to be experienced Piano player,it is not increidibly hard piece but quite difficult.

  • I truly feel when I listen to this song.

  • the most beautiful music I've ever heard!

  • Wonderful...

  • I when i heard this music i feel a lot

  • I sometime sacifise a lot if i dont chose these...

  • the piano.....

  • This song makes me...feel...

  • She could have refused, very easily. Told her husband and got Baines arrested and then take the piano from his house to her house, easily. Its actually written in the script that she could have done that, but refused to do that BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO. Oh dear. Some people

  • @penguinalert

All too often the excuse of the sexual predator is "she wanted it". No one wants to be sexually humiliated or bullied. She was a "fallen woman" in the 19th century. She knew she was powerless, that it was a "man's world". She knew her only chance to get what was rightfully hers was to be sexually degraded. I could live with that as a story line. What I don't buy is that she would fall in love with the creep who sexually abused her. It sends the same old message--cont

  • @TheMystikChick

hurt us and we will fuck you. Now stop rewriting the movie and accept the premise of the movie that women like their men to treat them rough, that women are turned on by guys who use their power to sexually play with them.

I know this may suck given how much you bought the notion this was a love story--but sexual abuse does not a love story make.

  • @TheMystikChick Tell you what. I'm going to be the mature one. Because you obviously can't be. We are ruining a beautiful piece of music by vandalising all over the comments page. We have different opinions. Lets leave it at that. I have better things to do than argue with someone, seeing as your the older one. You should have done this a long time ago.

  • If I ever learn to play the piano I would play this song atleast three times a day.

  • Ummm...The climax of the story is when he chops of her finger with his axe. And I was expressing a comment more on MystikChicks language. Sure, you can give your opinion. But give it in a civilised manner, some words she/he was using was inappropriate. I can understand why one does not like the film, but the way she/ he said "soft porn" and "pretty music" just makes the film sound like it has no meaning

  • @penguinalert

My opinion was given in a civilized language Ms Manners. Every word I used in my comments was thoughtful and to the point. it was soft porn and firmly in the tradition of the sexually needy woman submitting to the degrading sexual fantasies of the male. The music is new age pap. The movie has meaning all right. It suggests sexual abuse or degradation is the way to a woman's heart much like most porn. As for my language--fucking grow up. I am btw a 22 year old woman--a law studen

  • My boy friend said the movie was a soft porn flick for chicks with some pretty music. I think he is right. I got the creeps the way the bushman whored the lead chick so she could get her piano back and then she winds up fucking the guy. Made no sense to me. I would have used that ax on him. And I like how an illiterate bush man winds up with a nice home etc in the end. Dumb ending much! It cost us a few bucks to rent the thing and it was money wasted.

  • @TheMystikChick You call yourself an avid movie fan, you are clearly not clever enough to understand this movie. What do you like to watch? Hannah Montana? And by the way stop swearing, and the music is not just "pretty" its a masterpiece so tell your boyfriend to get some education in music before you going calling one of the greatest songs of the nineties "pretty"

  • @penguinalert But it's an opinion. How can an opinion be wrong? I agree the song is a masterpiece and the movie did win awards. But the film itself has no climax nor a real plot, surely you can see why some do not like it as a film.

  • @penguinalert

Yes, I do call myself a movie fan and for good reason, too. I will let you in a little secret. Where you fail is in assuming your taste in movies is unassailable and so anyone who disagrees with you and your taste in movies must necessarily not be clever. The music is little more than new age pap. Pretty, for sure, but not in in any way a classical or technical masterpiece. The movie itself was slow, tedious and suggested that women liked to be sexually abused by men with power.

  • @TheMystikChick

    cont

My boy friend at the time was pursuing a master's program in English literature with an emphasis on film.

As for swearing: fuck you language cop. If watching guys with power over chicks sexually exploiting them makes you all fucking wet be my guest. But spare me any of your sophomoric lectures on music and film because in both areas you are sadly deficient in the skills needed to add anything worthwhile to the discussion. Oh, yah, fuck you. lol

  • @TheMystikChick

I don't very much about the music, whether it is a masterpiece or not. It was pleasant to listen to, not that I likely would ever buy it. The movie I agree was boring and from my perspective unbelievable A good christian dude of that era would not marry some woman who was a "fallen" woman. He would have killed his wife's lover and no one would have done anything about it. I am with you in wondering why women would fall in love with some manipulative creep like what's his name.

  • @TheMystikChick

Yes, sexual exploitation has nothing to do with seduction. He was a man who enjoyed power over the lead woman (i long since forgotten all their names). He used this power to sexually manipulate her. He was sorry afterwards. Big deal. He is no different than some supervisor demanding you show him your titties so you an get a promotion. If this is a turn on then so too would what what's his name did to the leading woman. It is not a romance movie but an exploitation movie.

  • @TheMystikChick I'm sorry you can't appreciate the film. It was not about sexual abuse, more of how love is found in the strangest of ways. And if you did a character study,as I have at A level standard you would understand that Ada (the protagonist) actually fancies Baines from the start and was willing to join the agreement in which she was so called "sexually abused". And your third sentance doesn't make sense. I'm sorry if I offended you I was a little harsh. Don't swear please.

  • @penguinalert

I too am sorry that you are too naive to see that the film depicted a chick who was sexually abused. How about you? If you have a prized possession or there is a job you want really badly and some dude owns the rights to what it is you want but agrees to let you have it if you let him touch you or peek under your clothes or grab your titties would you think this is seduction, love? If so you are one weird chick. It takes no degree of study to conclude Ada was sexually exploited--

  • @TheMystikChick

    cont

by someone who enjoyed power over her. No reasonably independent, un sick chick would have agreed to the arrangement in the first place and certainly would not have willingly fucked him at the end of it all. There was an ax in the movie and I would have liked to see her use it to cut of bush boy's dink.

BTW if you ever watch porn you will often see a sexually needy wife finding sex in the arms of some strong dude, often a black man or a tough guy. Sound familiar?

  • @TheMystikChick

When you say she had it on for Baines from the get go i see in this a rationalization, a way for you and a whole lot of other chickies to cheer for a creepy guy who demands to poke, and probe and look and squeeze a married woman's body in exchange for what he owns. You know as i know that she was sexually exploited and that no woman should cheer this sort of thing on so you desperately look for excuses to do so. But you have looked in the wrong places. I am not angry btw.

  • @TheMystikChick Your a law student. Who swears, uses word like chick and fuck. And can't spell the word student right. I have a hard time believing that and if you are...well.... Also, history proves that women were treated like this in the past, so many sources say so. And I can understand if you don't like it. You know, I might just send you the script. So you would understand (like you cant at the moment) how Ada was manipulating the men as much as they were making a whore out of her.

  • @penguinalert I hate lawyers...

  • @penguinalert

Yes, I am a law student. Yes I use words like fuck and chick, too. Yes, I even sometimes spell some words incorrectly, even though I always know how they should be spelled. It doesn't really matter, however, what you think about me or what I think of you, does it. Women were and still are sexually victimized by men with power over them. I don't like it and nor should you assuming you too are a young woman. I watched the movie. Ada was sexually exploited by the guy gone native.

  • @TheMystikChick Women have been oppressed and bullied by men for centuries both inside and outside the institution of marriage. In order to survive in a man's world women are now increasingly adopting the traits of men and can bully and oppress too. 'The female of the species is more deadly than the male'. Not all men are bastard abusers and not all women are poor victims. The world of sexual desire, lust, love, abuse, oppression and bullying is a very complicated one. She defied both!
