Get some good all terrain tyres and the X trail can go most places off road. I regularly follow discoverys and defenders over pretty bad terrain, it keeps up with them fine. Its half the cost to run as well.
The liberty originally replaced the Cherokee line. This was mainly because of many significant changes to the vehicle and to try a new marketing angle. The Cherokee was, as stated by torkilbe, still called that in other countries during this time. It is also once again going to be called the Cherokee again with the new lines, or is said to be.

Seems you have adequate time my friend; The Jeep in the vid was a 2.8 diesel and that is all I said. It IS unfortunate the Liberty (Cherokee) no longer comes with the CRD engine here. I don't claim to know European cars and don't talk about them like I do, but you on the other hand talk about North American cars and seem to know very little so, yeah, I will tell you about North American cars. I also should tell you MANY cars came with a 2.8 6 cyl gas engines so why even say its not real
@droopynutz1 Well, just check the numbers by yourself.... 2.8 litres in a V6 American Engines is nothing real....
Just check the numbers by yourself at Jeep.com FYI, that Cherokee they show is a Liberty in US: 3.7L V6 engine mated with a four-speed automatic transmission.
The Liberty is still called a Cherokee outside of North America! If you don't know, ask or research it. Now you guys talking shit not only sound stupid but very ignorant!
@jeepwillbmw Depends on the model, not all Jeeps have low range....I believe the Jeep on the video (same platform used for the Dodge Nitro) it doesnt have low range, it has 4wd lock only.
@jeepwillbmw Depends on the model, not all Jeeps have low range....I believe the Jeep on the video (same platform used for the Dodge Nitro) doesnt have low range, it has 4wd lock only. Technically they should performe the same, but Jeep should be a bit more capable than Xtrail.
You cant compare a Jeep Cherokee Liberty with the Xtrail, in terms of Off Road Performance, the Jeep will beat the Nissan by far. However the Nissan Xtrail may be better than the Jeep on Interior design and space, also the Xtrail may have better quality materials used for the interior/dashboard parts.
Also Nissan X-Trail is very popular in South America, and Nissan is still making this SUV. In the USA you find the X-Terra which is bigger than X-Trail.
This is a bad comparison, that Jeep version is US$10,000 more expensive that the Nissan X-trail. The engine is bigger than Nissan also (3700cc vs 2500cc), also the Jeep Liberty shown in the video is Full equiped against the basic one of Nissan Xtrail. You have to be honest and compare that Jeep against a Nissan Pathfinder 2010 or the Nissan Patrol GR 2009 and you will see the difference.
I have the Nissan X-Trail 2010 and is comparable with the Jeep Patriot, and the Nissan is better for far.
@droopynutz1 No, you are wrong...that is the Xterra....There is no Xtrail in Canada...you can actually go to Nissan Canada website and see by yourself....if you see an Xtrail in Canada, may be it is Imported from France or something like that....But it is not sold as an available model for Canada Market. FYI!!
@wtrdogg20 After watching the vid again the X-trail has changed somewhat so it may have been an older model and was since discontinued here. You cannot import anything under 15 years old here. FYI!!
@wtrdogg20 So, after some research I found that the X-trail was in fact sold in Canada for the 2005-06 model years and was replaced by the Rogue. Why could you not, simpleton?
@droopynutz1 just one year?...too bad for you....Take it like this, Car Market in Canada is pretty much the same as in United States...
And about that situation about not importing anything under 15 years old, well....at 15 years that car has not much to offer, unless it is a classic car hahah..
@wtrdogg20 Hey smart guy, thats two years if you passed grade one. You don't import crap either; Just sought after, low mileage vehicles or else there's no money in it and what's the sense?
@droopynutz1 from 2005 to 2006 is just ONE YEAR...ONE MODEL...Whats wrong with you. BTW, you said you cant import anything under 15 years old...I dont what car you will find 15 years old and low milage hahaha...
@wtrdogg20 You're too much! Ever heard of a 05 06 X-trail for example? Would that be an 05 and a half or what? NO! There was on 05 and an 06 ,that's two years no matter where the hell you're from! On the 15 year thing, Crown Majestas, Soarers and Skylines are still damn good cars with 100k or less and when you don't get them here still turn heads 15 years later! Moral of all this is, if you don't know just keep your opinions to yourself cuz you said we don't have them but we do and thats that!
@droopynutz1 Not enough time to know about it. Accept it, dude, you are in Canada, and you have the same car market as USA. You dont know much about cars sold exclusively in other markets like Europe. And when you talk about old cars like the Skyline, well, thats another league, that is not precisely an everyday driving car.
Anyway, if you think I am wrong, you can check the information by yourself in Google.
@wtrdogg20 Please don't reply. You said we never sold X-Trail but, we did there was even a special edition named after a Canadian city. I know Liberty's very well because I have an '03 and yes it has a 3.7 because diesels are loud and unreliable when it gets around -30 C for 4 months of the year. You can teach me nothing more and I think I was very nice about this considering!
@droopynutz1 And where is the 2.8 for the Liberty, smart ass??
You never got the Xtrail enough time to enjoy it ). You dont have any idea what driving a new Xtrail feels like, just keep driving your Rogue. Whatever, dude.
I do can teach you a lot, something like the problem is not the Diesel fuel in cold weather, but the poor expertise in Diesel engines from Jeep.
Have a nice one, Kid.
BTW, The more you ask me to not replay, the more I will do it, LOL!!
@wtrdogg20 Well if you could read it says 2.8 CRD at 0:05, dumb ass. I wouldn't enjoy an X-Trail as it is far too small and has a terrible 4wd system as demonstrated here and the Rogue is a piece of trash next to my Liberty. You know what else? That shitty diesel engine you speak of is made in Italy! You are a very persistent retard but you should stick to things you know like cocksmoking and inbreeding

Nope X-Terra and X-Trail are different beasts. X-Trail has now become available in Canada I think but before it was Europe/Japan/Australia only. X-Trail sits about between Nissan Rogue and Nissan X-Terra for size, but X-Terra was made for north American market only.
Excuse me for the english but here's the explanation:
In america "liberty" is more apealing (because appeals to american patriotism and all that bullshit since united states is "the country of freedom") on the other hand, in other countries its called cherokee, like the ancient indian tribe, and then there's the grand cherokee wich would make sense since it's the next step in size in the jeep lineup
