Congrats on hitting two years. Your hair has grown nicely and it looks full, thick and healthy. I wish you the best as you continue on this road. Stay encouraged and ROCK IT!
@kgraves022 Thanks for the encouragement! I'm kind of on a mission to "prove" that someone who has never had really long hair CAN grow long hair if she wants to.
@ProudMomof4kids Here's my take on heat: It CAN cause damage to our hair if done excessively. Not long ago I was relaxed and curled my hair every morning before work. My hair stayed just above armpit length even with me not treating it very well. An occasional flat iron won't do terrible damage if moderate heat is used. I've done it now 3 times since becoming natural, and no damage thus far.
It looks really good! Do you trim your ends yourself or do you go get it trimmed by a professional? I like the layered look you have in the front. I hope you reach your goal next year :)
@NaturallyMeLittlet I do everything myself. My hair looks layered because I have not "cut" my hair since my big chop, when I cut it the same length all over. So all of my hair should technically be the same length, with the front and crown hair appearing shorter than the back hair. Thanks for the encouragement! I believe OUR hair can grow to amazing lengths.
Congrats on your progress! It looks so pretty and healthy. I hope to be where you're at now on my 2 yr mark this year on June 13th. So I still have a ways to go :)
@ProudMomof4kids I use a modified version of Kimmaytube's leave-in conditioner (Kinky Curly Knot Today, Aloe Vera Gel, jojoba oil) and the IC Fantasia heat protectant spray BEFORE I blow dry with low heat on medium blast. I flat iron directly after blow drying at 370 degrees putting nothing else in my hair between drying and flat-ironing. It worked well this time, and the previous time I flat ironed. No heat damage so far. My hair is just as kinky and coily.
Looking great!!!!!!! Ok you have to share your flat iron tips because your girl (me lol ) is struggling lol I'm so happy for you girl!!!! So healthy looking! Get it DRDIVA!
@kmariebanks Happy New Year, Keke! I'm considering doing a video on how I flat iron. I put all my products (leave-in, heat protectant) in my hair before I blowdry. And NOTHING else between blow drying and flat-ironing. I think that's why it has so much body. Another key to getting it straight is putting tension on the hair when flat-ironing. The more stretched the hair is, the better my results are. Just my observations thus far.
Congratulations!!! We have the same nappiversary, I think you told me last yr on one of my videos too. Hopefully I'll do an update video this week. Your hair looks great. You have retained a lot of growth and it looks very healthy!

@TheMoseswoman I've done it about every other month. I'm gonna start doing it a little more frequently as my hair seems to like it.
