This is in front of the Bearpaw giftshop in Inverness, Alice Freeman (the owner) has this every year following the Inverness Days parade. I'm not exactly sure what year this was, but I'd say 1999 or 2000.
Alice holds a weekly ceilidh at the Inverness firehall during the summer, you can see Ian, Marion and myself there regularly
It's usually the last Saturday in July, they have a parade through Inverness at noon, local businesses put in floats. Quite a few of them have live music, and there's always one that has a live square set on the back of a flat-bed truck.
Buddy MacMaster gives a free concert in the Inverness park the Thursday before the parade, that's always a treat.
The pianist is Marion MacLeod, she's currently teaching music at Inverness Academy. Yeah that's me on the left. Ian MacDougall is still busy as ever, he plays for quite a few dances during the summer. He has 2 albums out. To his right is Jeff Gosse, he lives in Ontario but he usually comes down to C.B. during the summer. I don't know who the other guy is and I don't think I ever saw him after this, but he's keeping right up with the rest of us.
That does it...I'm moving to Cape Breton each summer!! I'd wander the streets all day long just to catch the buskers. What a great thing to see! And that little fiddler is really holding his own!
If anyone catches this vid and can idenify the fiddlers and pianist , I'd love to know some names. We've got to give these musicians the credit they deserve!!
This is just amazing. Imagine just walking down a small town street and hearing this incredibly brilliant music casually played by street musicians. I live near San Francisco, one of the world's major music cities and the audio on this video tops anything going on down here. Why don't some of you fiddlers pack yor bags, flee the snow and fill the music void in California? Peace, love and hope from Rubio the Whirlwind aka Mr Twirls
great video..capers rule...

By the way, does anybody happen to know the tunes?
AmorphousAmanda 2 years ago
The first tune is a march called the Glencoe Bridge.
The second is a strathspey ... that I don't know the name of.
The third is a Scottish reel called Jenny Dang the Weaver.

Okay, whose got more fiddle players per square mile-- Cape Breton or the whole state of Tennessee? I am placing my money on Cape Breton.
When I die I want to go to Cape Breton.

It is. The guy is an amazing player. I took lessons from him for three years and wish I could have absorbed 10% of the talent he has

I thought that was you! Thanks for the info. I think I remember seeing Jeff at a MacMaster concert at one point...he looks familiar. Nice job!
