I hear a voice that is thin and monochromatic. I am also left cold by this performance. I do not hear the tone emanating from a spot deep inside her (unlikeTebaldi, Callas, Albanese, etc.) Does this singer have a heart? There's no way I can be convinced that in the 18th century adult females intentionally tried to sing like emotionally unconnected 12-year-old boy soprani.
@nicosupersex No I am not deaf ... and are your parents first cousins? Kirkby's tone is thin and monochromatic and neither you nor I can change that. Unless you have a crystal ball you cannot declare that "Sutherland would have been no one without her husband". Others have said the Schwarzkopf would have been no one without Walter Legge and Maria Callas would have been no one with Tullio Serafin.
Delicious and clear voice!! the best soprano coloratura and the most beautiful voice I´ve ever heard!! congratulations Dame Kirkby!!

How interesting that this aria sounds a lot like the Melia's aria from Mozarts Apolo et Hyacinthus

This is sublime, Händel was truly inspired when he composed this aria and the singer makes it seem very natural and heaven-sent!!!

I don't know about you people out there, but my iMAC/Bose
fails miserably in the presentation of this magificent voice and deliverance of these notes.
In the words of Hugh Grant's roomate Spike.."THANK YOU GOD..."
for George Fredrich Handel.

Die Stimme ist wie von Emma Kirkby gewohnt, vorzüglich, jedoch empfinde ich das Tempo dieses Stückes als zu schnell.

The poster calls this a "pure-voiced rendition". I call this a "no-voiced rendition" since she has no voice.
