@xluzbelangelx Ever heard of Steve Vai? No doubt you have. Yet you don't see us calling every instrumental guitarist from other countries copycats and posers. These guys love playing cello and decided to make money doing what they love. You're the poser. Stay in Europe, don't ever disgrace my country by coming here.
from the way they play the main riff at 0:31, it's fairly obvious they haven't listened to metallica's original in quite a while... the emphasis is on the wrong part of the beat :(
hey do the cello get out of tune afterwards? just wondering cuz i remember my music teacher yelling at me for practicing outside, saying that it would mess up the strings.
@xluzbelangelx dude dont be a dick every1 is entitiled to there own opinion plus its like comparing mozart and beethoven, they have different styles but are bothing genuis and who cares if there not known u gotta start somewhere?
I love the sounds that they can get to come out of their instruments, especially since they're acoustic. It's amazing and is so awesome, seriously! Keep it up and hope everything works out for the best!
I had to comment on this. Despite the feelings of some that they appear to be old news and uncool, I thoroughly enjoyed them. They have been touring high schools and performing to show kids that music is as awesome and wild ans they can make it. My mom is a teacher and saw them perform at her school and she loved it. She wanted to get their CD, and she's not the type to listen to this sort of stuff. DOn't bash it for being done.
Probably been said a lot, but Apocalyptica did this so long before these guys. I'm not detracting from the fact they are good, bu they are hardly groundbreaking...
these people are really good, respect to them! it does sound like apocalyptica - the creeping death. I only recently got into their music and I love it. :)
On a side note, does anyone know what city their playing from?
I dunno, you can make almost any instrument work. I love the sound of cellos, and it's true, it wouldn't be the Apocalyptica we all know and love, but... well, look at some of the folk metal bands out there.... Like Turisas! Accordion and violins totally rocking out (seriously, look at video mGs_kcnswW4 they also use tons of brass instruments and a double-bass). Eluveite even makes bagpipes and the hurdy-gurdy metal. or those 'nuthin but stringz' guys on America's Got Talent for more hip-hop...
I know some other folk metal bands too and they make awesome music, but it's just that a quartet of violins couldn't make the music sound hard or deep, the strings are just to high. A cello has a great range of tones, from bass to super high ones. So this is what I meant about 'Apocalyptica playing on violins wouldn't work' :D
also, everyone saying this is "completely unique", and a "re-invention" of metal REALLY needs to check out apocalyptica....they've been around WAY longer than these guys. I'm not insulting BoR, but apocalyptica gave them their idea...
and this is a cover of metallica's "creeping death"
No kidding. Apocalyptica recorded this very song back in 1996. These guys are like 10 years too late for it to be ground breaking. I mean, they play well, it sounds almost like Apocalyptica, but all the talk about them being so unique and all... well, it's not, at least not any more. To the people who voted down spyrdian's comment, maybe you should actually pay attention to what he's saying, and check Apocalyptica out. It was an informative comment, and the truth, not insulting.
Actually this group is very different from Apocalyptica, if you look past this song. They're much more melodic, and they have a much more different sound. I could tell them apart pretty quickly from just audio. And..Apocalyptica never did this song acoustic...
I'm actually fairly certain that Apocalyptica's album version of this song is actually accoustic. They use distortion live, but Apocalyptica's entire Metallica cover album seems to be acoustic. They're newer work uses a lot more distortion, and they're song writing style is noticeably different from BOR. With both bands, I'd say they're original songs are much better.
It is distorted. Not as heavily as their later albums, but Paavo's bass lines are definitely distorted. I didn't notice until I started to play the cello and noticed it wasn't the same sound at all.
A very good performance, especially if you think of the situation. It is not so easy to concentrate "open-air" like that, but you give your best and - thats most important - have fun together and that is even to feel in front of the PC-Monitor-Screen and makes this video one of my favorites.
First of all I'd like to apologyze for my quite bad english. They are great cello players but this version of Creeping Death (that's from Metallica. Apocalyptica only did a cover of it) is plenty of phantom and lost notes, and a lot (and a lot, and a lot) of mistakes. Plus the Djembé is absolutely out of place in this song... That's my opinion as musician
i love break of reality! they are amazing!!! i play cello myself (so far 8 years) and i love it... it's such a beautiful instrument. hearing people like B.O.R. and apocalyptica inspire me even more! i hope they become real famous like apocalyptica.. =]

That sounds great! I came across this while looking for a band called Deadweight; they are a 3 piece, violin, cello and drums rock band. Fairly dead-on rendition, as well. I will tune in again. . .
