I thought RAF Regt. protected Airbases or captured land to set up an Airbase?

The RAf reg also patrol the surrounding areas of the bases to scout out any threats.

There is no oil in Afghanistan - The oil is in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The pipeline will transport oil in a 42-inch pipe southward thru Afghanistan for 1040 miles to the Pakistan coast. The pipeline will cost over $2.5 billion and carry about 1 million barrels of oil per day, to say nothing of the lives of the cannon fodder despatched to guard the pipeline from the locals. I was lucky enough to do the RAF Regt Work Experience Week at RAF Benson (next door to Honington) and loved it; harbors, 04:30AM firefights with smoke grenades and schermully flares, was an experience I will never forget. Loved the PT best of all, was a good experience, pushing yourself beyond what you thought was your limit, and I loved the challenge. Anyway, thanks guys, we really appreciate what you do out there and our thoughts are with you.

Have you tried doubling up the basha sheets to provide better heat protection? Leave a gap of 6 inches or more between the bashas and it should work better at keeping the sun's heat off. Easier said than done though..
