  • I must give credit for the AWESOME sauce. It's great! A good alternative to the usual ketchup. :D

  • Hey every body, I have made this 5-6 times so far and I don't mix it too much coz I find it 10 times more delisious than when I mix the ingredients a lot, Just thought I would share it with you,

Thank you yoyomax for sharing it

  • @MsMoshi222 Thank you for letting me know you make this! Nice to hear from people.

  • You're a great mom, cooking, baking delicious food for your family!

  • U lost me with the milk and oatmeal I've never seen meatloaf made like that u learn something new everyday

  • @NaturallyBlessed83 The oatmeal does the same thing as breadcrumbs, it acts as a filler and as a way to keep it moist.

  • u must make a lot of money from utube

  • 1 other thing if you put fennel in the meat it makes it taste italian style. otherwise it's american.

  • that's how i make mine but some times i add ketchup for more sweeter taste ketchup inside along with everything else except the milk. you can add alittle cooked rice with that and a finley chopped bell pepper too.for the sauce i do the same but sometimes i use tomatoe sauce or paste and add alittle ketchup to loosen the sauce along with the rest you added. great job, it comes out very moist .

  • Always wondered what meatloaf was.

  • I made this a couple of weeks ago and OMG it was Yummi, My boy friend stole the last piece I'd saved for my sister lolllllllll Thank you yoyomax

  • I have a few questions: I don't have Worcestershire sauce so what can I substitute with it? Can I use instant oats in a package (Quaker oats)? And can I use ground pork instead of ground beef since I don't have any at the time being. For the sauce same with the Worcestershire sauce and I don't have brown sugar nor mustard. I have oyster sauce and some other Asian flavorings though.

  • @mivatakuzi You are asking to replace pretty much the entire recipe with something else. I would recommend you google "pork meatloaf recipe" and see what you can find.

  • @mivatakuzi If you mix up all your ingredients I think that would taste delicious, like the pork dumplings at the china buffet, yummm.....

  • Made this tonight and the boys were fighting over the last piece (and I used 2-1/2 pounds of meat) Thanks so much! This is a keeper!! :)

  • @lakegirl645 this is a family favourite, thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it

  • I am sooo going to make this tomorrow night for dinner...looks awesome! Thanks!

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm meatloaf.

  • @CuteZBunny This is a good one :)

  • HMM YuM :) I wish i could taste that Niceee ;))))

  • @DeliCreateD Thanks for watching!

  • thank you we did it this weekend and we love it thank you so much it was so good and if i can do it you guys can to

  • @gizmo33rd Thanks for watching!

  • @yoyomax12 no thank you it was so good :)

  • I loved your video, I will try & make this early next week, It looks wonderful. Thx.

  • @7shirleyann This is a family favourite!

  • Te oat filler was a great idea thanks

  • @Indigodrought I prefer the oats to breadcrumbs and they are probably better for you too.

  • I'll be making this tonight! -Will let you know how it turns out! Thanks for taking the time to make this video! :)

  • @AndrewShane24 You are welcome, this is a family favourite, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

  • omg your'e makin me hungry lol. I LOVE meatloaf!! One problem...i live alone so i find it hard to be motivated to cook for just myself. I went from being married with 3 kids to be totally single and on my own. So when I need a recipe I need something thats gonna jumpstart my motivation. Thanks for doing that :)

  • @KraftyKatsy I think if I was alone I would eat soup and sandwiches every day, I know what you mean. It is hard to cook most recipe just for one.

  • @KraftyKatsy I live alone also but SO love meatloaf . . . so what I do is bake the meatloaf in my muffin pan! They freeze really well and I can take out one or two, depending on how much I want tp "pig out" LOL. Also, I can slice it and it makes a really good sandwich on a toasted english muffin.

  • Wow, that looks good! I'm so excited to try this! Love the sauce idea. Great video!

  • @55butta55 This is a family favourite! Making it tonight actually!

  • I've try this recipe and it was delicious...but i didn't add the oat...THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL!

  • @lueisadude The oats don't add much flavour so they wouldn't be missed too much. They do stretch the meat out a bit so you can make it go farther, Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it!

  • I've gotta try this. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Hugs,~Moonchime

  • You are welcome! Hope you enjoy it.

  • Looks yummy. I am trying to change mine up a bit. I have never heard of using milk in meatloaf. I now have to cook with turkey hamburg because my husband can't eat beef so it doesn't quiet taste the same. I am going to try something similar to what you did.

  • I used to soak the breadcrumbs in milk before putting them in the meatloaf, but I figure why not just throw it all in! I might omit the milk if I was using regular ground beef. The lean ground beef needs a little moisture I find.

  • Yummmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Looks great, Tammy.

    Thanks

    Pam

  • thanks Pam!

  • It adds a nice flavour to the meatloaf. You can add whatever spices to the topping as you like (Italian, Mexican etc)

  • My mom makes meatloaf like this, it's what I grew up with.

  • @juliejo39

The tomato sauce instead of the milk is a good idea, it would give some extra flavour.

  • @100poundsin2010 Thanks! You can use the extra lean hamburger in this too, cuts down the calories a bit.

  • Love the idea of the sauce on the top in that "well" area. Will certainly use that. Thanks.

  • @SuzanneBa The sauce really adds nice flavour to the meatloaf.

  • I love meatloaf. The market sells it in the deli, so that is my meat loaf, but I have been trying to cook at home.

  • @ABQdoubleG

If I lived alone I would probably buy most of my food ready made. Being primary cook for two other people makes me cook. lol.

  • I know I'm butting in, but when I lived alone, I loved to cook stuff like this and freeze it in individual servings. Instant food that was good and healthy instead of the crap you get in restaurants. Mmmmmm. Make two good sized dishes a week and in no time you've got 5 meals a week ready to go and all different.

  • You're the only other person I know that uses the oats. I use all oats though and no crumbs..works out beautifully every time. I work the meat very well also. Looks fantastic!! Blessings, Ang

  • @GramsandPapi I find the oatmeal does a good job at keeping the moisture in the meat.

  • looks good!

  • @artofbrowneyedgirl Thanks Diana!

I made the sweet potato cake today! Very good!

  • oh cool! so glad you liked it!

  • I love to make meatloaf. And easy meal. Hugs Tammy!

  • @imperceptibleme Very easy quick meal!

    Thanks Melissa

  • Meatloaf is a winner in this house. My kids love it! Your meatloaf looks fantastic!!

  • @TheChattagirl Max loves anything with hamburger in it! So hard to find things that they like.

  • that looks so good i wanna come live with you...always makin' such tasty looking meals! btw tonight i am making your meatballs with veggies and noodles. i was gonna make it sunday nite but someone forgot to thaw out my ground beef!

  • @rach85256 Did the meatballs/noodles turn out well? I hope so :)

  • OMG yes they did!! the kids loved it they kept asking for more meatballs. i think next time I will just use corn and maybe the potatoes because the kids do not like green things. lol i am gonna make it again but next time i am gonna try it with rice.

  • I will be making this later in the week!

You are giving me ideas on what to make for supper. Thank you!

    Love you!

  • @yoyomax2 Love you.

  • *gasp*

Queen Twishie has never experienced meatloaf??

    Furriners. Humph!!

I rarely do meatloaf, but when I get the urge I tend to mix it as you do. I don't like stumbling into pockets of components that didn't mix, and yeah, there's only one way. Dive in with both hands.

I've been known to add an arbitrary squirt of ketchup into the mix, for no reason, but then, as you already mentioned, the variations are as limitless as are the number of people who make it.

  • The variations are really endless, sometimes I also throw in a random squirt of ketchup on occasion, lol.

  • Looks delicious! You're so right about the two schools of thought about mixing meatloaf. For eons I mixed the same way you do but over the last couple of years, have been using 2 forks (the Ina

Garten way) and I think I prefer it. Maybe it's just different than what I was used to. I don't know. I will give your recipe a go as it looks wonderful. I like your tip about making the top concave to hold the sauce. Brilliant!

  • I had to look up Ina Garten, I only know her as the barefoot contessa! lol.

The meatloaf is definitely more tender if you mix it less, but I find that it taste too much like a large hamburger.

  • My Lord Tammy, youre making me hungry!!!! ;-)

  • Good! That's the point, lol.

  • Your meatloaf looks yummy, but you know, I haven't seen any recipes on youtube of meatloaf like my grandmother makes. Your sauce sounds good too :)

  • Make your grandma's meatloaf and show us! I"d love to see it.

  • Looks good! I meant to ask you this before - where did you get the measuring cups that look like swans? I really like them. We don't live too far apart (I don't think), but have a feeling they are something hard o find.

  • I found the goose measuring cups at a yard sale or at a thrift store, it was 10-15 years ago, so I can't remember exactly.

    They are cute :)

  • I always add a healthy amount of prepared horseradish, as well as ketchup AND yellow mustard in mine. It comes out DELICIOUS - very flavorful, but not spicy or strong at all!

  • Horseradish goes very well with beef, great idea.

  • Really like the sauce on the top, I have to try it :)

  • The sauce adds a nice flavour to the meat loaf.

  • Yum! I haven't made meatloaf in ages....this sauce looks great! hugs, Chris

  • Great thing about it is that you can make sandwiches with the leftovers, yum.

  • Wow, what nice lean meat! Well now lucky Trish gets to try it for the first time. That will be a treat. It's just one of those wonderful winter foods that comforts and warms you and you eat with family! Ya know? Its just not restaurant kinda food, but more the kind you eat with loved ones at home.

  • This definitely says "home food". It is a great winter comfort food that's for sure.

  • Looks good! I think I may have to make this tomorrow. I make it almost exactly like you do. Thanks for sharing.

    ~Don

  • Thanks Don!

  • Oh yummy yummy! I love the topping! I usually just run a bead of ketchup down it or leave it and use brown gravy. This looks wonderful! Thank you for this!! xo

  • I like it with brown gravy as well, with some crusty bread and lots of butter, yum.

  • Yummy!!

    THanks :)

  • Thanks!

  • Yeah, good idea, the indentation, never thought of that before, and I love the sauce. Thanks.

  • I made meatloaf several times and the sauce just seemed to slide off the top until I gave it a place to "sit". Thanks!

  • how did you know ive been craving meatloaf... im going to try this tommrow night =D

  • Hope you like it!

  • oh hun...seriously...that is all kinds of delicious looking. Ive made "home made burgers" and now definately need to try this meat loaf exactly as you showed us. The potato on the side of the dish was so snowy white! Looks like a cloud. Dang i'm hungary now!

  • I add cream cheese to my mashed potatoes they look very white and taste great too.

  • Oh wow!

    So that's what meatloaf is!

Now i HAVE to make this because i've always wanted to try it.... i'll let you know what i think of it Tammy

    Thanks so much!

    :-)

  • Kind of like a big chunk of hamburger, but the texture is a bit different.

  • I made meatloaf this morning! Will attach as a response ;)

mmmy yummy looking! The sauce is almost like the Paula Deen one that I made a while ago and the flavor is scrumpdilicious!!

  • I couldn't believe that we made meatloaf on the same day!! Paula Deen is one of my favourites, she doesn't skimp on the good stuff like butter. :)

  • YUM, meatloaf! This looks so VERY tasty! I will try making the sauce, I usually just pour some catsup on top, but I do like mustard..

  • Pouring ketchup over it taste very close to this topping, this one will be just a bit sweeter because of the brown sugar.

  • Mmm looks delicious

  • thanks!

  • That looks delicious and I like the idea of making the indentation on the top to help hold in the sauce. I love to try new meatloaf recipes so thanks for sharing this one. I've found there are almost as many meatloaf variations as there are people in the world. ;) -Doug

  • I also enjoy trying new meatloaf variations, always on the look out for new ones.

    Thanks Doug!

  • looks good god job :)

  • Thanks!
