The only thing I'm having a problem with is finding the right size sleeve to put it in. It's gorgeous and I want to prevent it from being scratched. Yes, they cost $50 at Radio Shack, but only when you add a two yr. contract with ATT which only gives you 5GB of 3G wireless data at $60 a month, and if... then a $170 cancelation fee... Get it? C'mon, do the math? Is it worth it, or would you rather pay its reg. cost? I didn't think so! But, yes! It's a great mini, for it's reg. price!

The keyboard gave me no issues.. I had no troubles typing at a decent speed within 5-10 min and my hands aint tiny (im 6 foot tall)..
yea the webcam DOES suck.. so does the video card, only simple 3d games! the 3 cel battery only lasts around 2.5 hours, if I saw the 6 cel for less than 100 bucks more I woulda gotten it.
this is not really made for HD but it handles just fine. I mean the resolution is 1024X600 on a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. I also upgraded the RAM so I have 1.5GB RAM (512MB on board and 1GB in slot). Mine plays rips just fine.
Yeah I helped my mate upgrade his Acer to 1.5GB RAM. How long did it take you to install, it took us like over an hour lol. You shouldn't have to remove everything including the motherboard to just access RAM.

The battery life does not run 3 hrs; it runs maybe a little less than 2 hrs (with Windows updates). I've had two Acers now and it's the same for both. I take mine to class with me to take notes. It's comfortable to use except you might have to use the zoom button a lot to read the screen more clearly.

I recommend you to install VLC (google for "top ten aspire one tips") for movies, because the included media player doesn't play some formats like Xvid.

it's not going to power games, really... it can probably run old games, but it's really meant for surfing, email, word processing, that sort of thing.
thing about netbooks, right, is the compact-ness of them. so there won't be optical drives in any of them.
what's more is that over the coming years you'll probably start seeing the trend to back down from having the internal optical drives, in favor of external drives, and thus letting the consumer decide whether they want it or not.

The Acer Aspire One blows the Eee 901 away in all aspects.
If you are looking for games neither will do it. They're not meant for games at all really, but anything from maybe.... the year 2000 and before would work, games with sprites.
you must be joking right ? I am doing 3d graphcis with a 110. Aspire one is fine for games, it even supports opengl hardware acceleration , which my old 1GHz (2002 model) hp laptop did not. Why the hell you will be limited to sprite games ?
I have seen at least one youtube video in which one guy played Warcraft (WOW) online with this beauty. OF curse is a game machine, it wont play demanding games , but there are loads of games 3d or not that can play. I probably install nverwinter nights 1
Yes, there are videos of people playing WoW, but on low settings and only with no other players around. Go into a city and bam, might as well not play, and if you join a party the other people in your party will lag you enough to make it unplayable.
Yeah, some older 3D games will work, I was playing warcraft 3 with 50fps on my aspire one. But I took it back for an MSI wind, it's superior.
unfortunately some of the information you where giving was wrong, the max hd memory is actually 120g built in. the cam is actually 1.4mpx but over all good job.
it was not wrong it is just outdated. The information they are giving was correct when it was produced. Obviously Acer has done some upgrading and come out with some newer specs since they launched the Aspire One

you will not get the best experience running photoshop with this laptop. it is only a single core 1.6 Ghz processor, which is similar to a P4 also if you use the linux version those programs are based on windows.
SSD means Solid State Drive, HDD means Hard Disk Drive, HDD is in move if not every computer made so far, SSD has recently surfaced. Use Wikipedia to gain further insight into SSD and HDD
I doubt it. Most computers that come with XP nowadays (and there is another model with XP which you should get if that is what you want to use) do so because of limited specs.
Just got my !20gb linux version 2day and installed xp on it. All I can say is this thing rocks. Use vlc to play videos, as I tried quick time is was a little jumpy. Vlc was as smooth as a babys bottom

I actually just purchased the white and XP version (with 120GB hard drive) yesterday and it should arrive in my hands soon. From what I know about Aspire One so far, I'd say that it's rather surprisingly good in many aspects. I've gone to stores and got my hands on to some demos and it was absolutely brilliant. Best thing is that it only costs less than CA$400, which is great! Acer is sure starting to step into the scene seriously lately and I am starting to adore their products. :)

Wouldn't bother with xp on this machine, linux runs much faster and the hard drive is quieter and its not microsoft shit, win/win/win situation!!

The RAM isn't that bad to install. I had it done in 10 mins or less. I work on copy machines, so tricky hardware is kind of my specialty.

I just got one for Christmas and I am afraid that this thing is too good to be true but so far it hasn't let me down. This thing is going everywhere with me. 10/10!

how you liking it so far? how is the fan noise on it? i need a small, sturdy netbook i can lug around classes and to the library on campus and i think my instructors would get grumpy if the fan was whirling up all the time. thanks!

The Acer Aspire One blows the Eee 901 away in all aspects.
If you are looking for games neither will do it. They're not meant for games at all really, but anything from maybe.... the year 2000 and before would work, games with sprites.

you must be joking right ? I am doing 3d graphcis with a 110. Aspire one is fine for games, it even supports opengl hardware acceleration , which my old 1GHz (2002 model) hp laptop did not. Why the hell you will be limited to sprite games ?
I have seen at least one youtube video in which one guy played Warcraft (WOW) online with this beauty. OF curse is a game machine, it wont play demanding games , but there are loads of games 3d or not that can play. I probably install nverwinter nights 1

Yes, there are videos of people playing WoW, but on low settings and only with no other players around. Go into a city and bam, might as well not play, and if you join a party the other people in your party will lag you enough to make it unplayable.
Yeah, some older 3D games will work, I was playing warcraft 3 with 50fps on my aspire one. But I took it back for an MSI wind, it's superior.

If I can play WOW with 250 euro laptop even at lowest settings, sorry but I have to say this thing really ROCKS!!!!

unfortunately some of the information you where giving was wrong, the max hd memory is actually 120g built in. the cam is actually 1.4mpx but over all good job.

it was not wrong it is just outdated. The information they are giving was correct when it was produced. Obviously Acer has done some upgrading and come out with some newer specs since they launched the Aspire One

honestly this laptop is very slow i had one my slef just sold it cuz it was soo slow from my point of view i think that its worth the price only if u need it as GPS for ur car and also connect it to ur car for songs other than that its slow for doing other things

hi i bought one of theses recently and im having trouble with downloading stuff like when i tryed downloading gunz or the photoshop trial it says that the download is default to emrald something or other... how can i change this or how do i get the apps up on emarald.

you will not get the best experience running photoshop with this laptop. it is only a single core 1.6 Ghz processor, which is similar to a P4 also if you use the linux version those programs are based on windows.

SSD means Solid State Drive, HDD means Hard Disk Drive, HDD is in move if not every computer made so far, SSD has recently surfaced. Use Wikipedia to gain further insight into SSD and HDD

I doubt it. Most computers that come with XP nowadays (and there is another model with XP which you should get if that is what you want to use) do so because of limited specs.

Just got my !20gb linux version 2day and installed xp on it. All I can say is this thing rocks. Use vlc to play videos, as I tried quick time is was a little jumpy. Vlc was as smooth as a babys bottom

I called Acer...their new 160gig, 6-cell will be out the end of the month, Oct.31st and will arrived in stores (Best Buy, Fry's, Circuit city) couples days later for $399...This the Acer everybody is waiting for...u get more than the Dell Mini 9

I actually just purchased the white and XP version (with 120GB hard drive) yesterday and it should arrive in my hands soon. From what I know about Aspire One so far, I'd say that it's rather surprisingly good in many aspects. I've gone to stores and got my hands on to some demos and it was absolutely brilliant. Best thing is that it only costs less than CA$400, which is great! Acer is sure starting to step into the scene seriously lately and I am starting to adore their products. :)

This video should be retitled 'the most annoying bint in the world ever and a james cunt/blunt lookalike blabber on and on and on about a laptop', anyway I'm getting the Aspire One A150L which is the linux version with a 120gb hard drive. Wouldn't bother with xp on this machine, linux runs much faster and the hard drive is quieter and its not microsoft shit, win/win/win situation!!
