  • You guys do realize that no one was injured in this tsunami right?! For fuck sakes live a little!!

  • I heard someone said ohh..Shit at 0:2

  • The two top comments are by trolls. lol

  • It was hardly something to fear, no reason to make fun.

  • stupid people!!! tsunami run run run!!!

  • AmaZing

  • 0:06 Wonder if that guy survived xD

  • I hope they all survived -.-

  • 0:30 it looks like it going to stop but it never stops

  • wow what a pretty wave lets look at it as it kills us idiots

  • Considering how far that wave traveled, holy fuck.

  • not as exciting as japan

  • Surf that!

  • Thats amazing how water can travel so far and still have that much power

  • @IIGuitarDudeII its a Fukin wave surge! From the earthquake in Japan, which sent a tsunami towards the west coast of the U.S. Not a flood.

  • yo i was there because i live in orick so yay

  • fuck youtube adds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is not a wave tsunami. It's certainly a flood.

  • @IIGuitarDudeII you suck...

  • Tsunami warning goes out............. so all these dumb fucks decide to go to the beach!!!!

  • They wanted to film it wouldnt you?

  • LETS SURF IN THE HUGE WHITE-WATER!!! :)

  • lol the cop slapped a huge fine on us for having sex in our car

  • cool

  • are those people going to move ( that are down by the water) anytime soon?

  • why was no one kayaking it?

  • Why would you stand there lol?

  • Wow, I literally grew up just a 5 minute horse back ride from there. I used to ride right through there all the time on my way to clam beach. I remember laying in bed on stormy nights listening to the ocean rage. I would have nightmares about huge tsunamis taking our whole neighborhood out. It always freaked me out. There is no way in hell you'd get me out there to take some stinking pictures!!!!

  • Do you think any fish were hurt by this ??

  • @Stokjockey Some fish would have probably been displaced/injured/killed. The wave worked the bank and large wood edge habitat pretty hard. I expect that most fish would have a brief period of disorientation and then get back to normal pretty quick. In the spring or summer there would have been a lot of juvenile salmon and steelhead there, and they would be more vulnerable than the few adult steelhead and the resident sculpins, flounders, perch etc. Could have created some edge habitat too...

  • Yo McKinnleyville!

  • i woulda watched and stood there to.

  • yeah, Eureka was safe...they called and woke us up at like 5 a:m..thought it was a crazy telemarketer. LOL!! good think i didn't hang it up and not listen. my kids got evacuated....and i'm 14 blocks from the bay, but nothing happened. Thank God. ;)

    nice video..

  • No one truly knows what to expect. The guy in the blue didn't run when the water rushed up cause he didn't want to look scared and stupid. I agree if it was a little faster and taller he may had been swept out and it wouldve looked identical to the incoming wave we see here.

  • I expect that at least some of these people were smart enough to check NOAA reports and new that the expected surge was approximately a half meter. Most of these people were standing 5 meters or more above the water level. They were all perfectly safe.

A tsunami from a quake close to the California coast would have been much more dangerous, and yes, anybody thinking they should go observe one from that location would have been risking their lives.

  • Gr8 video, little risky making it but thnx for sharing

  • Would you people shut the fuck up about dying? I was there and the only person who had a chance of getting hit was the guy with the blue hood, and one other person who went down. This isn't the first time this has happened in Humboldt and most of the people here know what they're going to deal with. If no one recorded it then how would you people get to see it?

  • nice video

  • This is how people DIE, all because they wanna "see". Idiots.

  • This is how people DIE. Because they wanna see. Idiots.

  • WARNINGGGGGGGGGG! Lots of ppl came to see the Tsunami in this video clip, but plz plz DO NOT go to the beach to see Tsunami when earthquakes occur. They dont know hod dangerous Tsunami is!

In California, Tsunami potentially, possibly occurs due to earthquakes caused by the faults in western coastal side.

so teachers, professors, mothers and fathers tell about it to your children!

Tell your friends, relatives, co-workers, neighbors, even strangers!!

  • LMAO WATCH OUT U MIGHT GET SUCKED IN IF U LOOK THEY R ON AN LEDGE WELL ABOVE WHERE THE WATER IS AND WHN U LIVE THERE YER WHOLE LIFE U PRETTY MUCH KNOW WHT TO EXPECT ...LOL

  • dumbs

  • Wow its unbelievable how far it travelled and at the start of the video it looked so innocent but later in the video one could see how turbulent it was

  • Did the person on the shoreline at 0:45 survive?

  • Dude, wicked.

  • fyi, high ground is behind themit goes up 25 to 35 feet, ,right behind them.No real danger

  • @WVFyc I have this uploaded on my blog ( Kymkemp.com )and someone from NOAA contacted me and was interested in it. I'll point them here.

  • @Kymkemp1 hey, cool, thanks!

  • Hey Guys lets all go to the beach and watch the tsunami come in first hand!!!!

  • Great Video. Best one on camera I seen so far.A+ vid.thanks

  • I am glad that I was smart enough to stay at my house inland and just watch this on youtube!

  • mom2krr. AGREEEDDDD LOLZ

  • Great video. Stay safe!

  • I've imagine they're all distracted by what's happening in the river to not see the six foot wall of water coming at them from the ocean that would have easily risen up the tiny little hill they're on and swept them all out to sea. The college here would have lost it accreditation because the whole world would call the attendees idiots, moronic, just plain old dumb and stupid. I'm just glad that didn't happen; not for the people who are out there, but for the people who have to rescue them.

  • Keep in mind that what you see is was all there was after an incredible 8.9, meanwhile the same waves destroyed Crescent City harbor 100 miles north, yet again. Most of Humboldt is pretty safe due the the shape of the coast, which makes a big difference.

  • You're telling people to stay home, yet you come to watch the footage they recorded? Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black if you ask me! Nice footage, btw. :)

  • 2011 Darwin Award winners

  • @wrenaybees Lmao couldn't have said it better myself

  • little diffrent when its a 30 foot wall of water.

  • Idiots. And what happens if the water keep rising.

  • wow. das amazing.

  • These morons need to go the home - Crescent City had a fatality this morning because of this stuff.

  • @AmbitionTheMage Japan has over a thousand so far

  • @TheHumboldtsurfer ...and I doubt they ran out to view the destruction like retarded little lemmings.

  • Awww look at all the stupid people that put rescuers at risk...

  • @mom2krr The hill on the north side is fairly steep - I never got out to that spit - was worried about a tsunami.

  • omg man.....

  • good footage! I doubt there'll be much damage near Eureka or Arcata. Course high tide won't happen till 4 pm.

  • wow, that is crazy....was the water sucked out of the river before the wave came up?

  • @april97cobra i think so. we pretty much walked up right as it was coming back in !
