  • your original vhs wow!!!

  • Looked forward to this show all the time as a kid. The 80s do RULE!! Ahhh the memories♥

  • so heads up - be careful if you google grokster or grok - had no idea the former was a prev p2p illegal site - just wanted to see if it was an actual BBS or fictional. This show was ahead of its time for sure tho.

  • don't worry, I am 38 and still find myself clapping my hands almost after every episode like a small child. SOmetimes the memories just stay with us.

  • nice ending

  • its cool that you found the original airing of this episode

  • I could see an episode of some TV show today with a similar plot, but it would be all about the dangers of meeting somebody over the web. Actually, I'm pretty sure I've seen that plot a number of times (at least once with South Park).

  • I remember watching this episode in a rerun on FOX 17, WXMI around 1989 or 1990

  • Oh man, watching this, and hearing Punky Brewster and Knight Rider. Oh man what memories AHAHAHAHA! Brings a smile to my face.

    Thanks so much

  • LMAO! God I miss shows like these. Who cares if I'm 34 now. I love this stuff as much now as I did when I was 8

  • great show with great values. I miss those days too

    alizee86

  • great show with great values. I miss those days too

  • I miss the old embassy productions jingle, great memories

  • Thank you sooo much UncleScrooge. I miss this show soooo much!!! Please post more. :)

  • First, he wouldn't be too concerned about her dating a senior. That means she more than likely sucks and fucks. Second, he wouldn't bring it up. He sounds like a jealous nutcase when he brings it up not five minutes after meeting her.

  • I thought she was STILL cute, in her "dream"

  • Can anyone upload the next episode where Ricky gets her pregnant?

  • damn! memories! You even included the ending wrap up with Punky Brewster and Embassy Network signature. I miss those days as a kid.

  • OMC ricky is so cute at 4:28

  • Ricky was always such a smooth talker. Ladykiller! :) This was so cute. Thanks for the fondest of memories!

  • In High School there was a guy that looked just like him...mmmm

  • Wow, you've even got the voice-over guy at the end, " Next on Punky Brewster, then, on Knight Rider, KITT and Michael face a killer Convoy. " See, the Magic of the 80's!, God I MISS MISS MISS the 80's Totally! By the way, Good Silver Spoons episode! :) I miss the voice-over guy on the commercials back then, ALL of the TV shows back then, the 80's rocked! The 80's RULE, the 2000's DROOL! That's a fact, Jack!

  • It's funny, on today's kids shows, they wouldn't have shown her 'fat' and made fat jokes in her daydream. If this aired today, fatties would be up in arms that it sets a bad image and makes fun of 'big boned' girls, blah, blah, blah. To me, this is an accurate portrayal of what girls think they are when they're that age, just like boys think they're too skinny, have too many pimples, or aren't cool enough. That is why these shows were far superior to the schlock we have today.

  • @eepruls yeah i hate today's show! i'm 29 and grew up with 80s and 90s tv shows....i hate the way the teens talk on the shows too....just too grown up for their age, it's just so boring now!!!! there's no innocence i guess you could say, i feel like i'm looking for another word but i cant think of it... they just know everything now at too early of an age, but i suppose its a sign of the times!

  • @lol21432 I know what you mean. Kids shows in the 80's and 90's tackled real issues. Today's shows like Hannah Montana and Suite Life on Deck are so silly and ridiculous. Can you imagine those shows tackling real problems and not just tween fluff with an incessant over-the-top laugh track?

  • @eepruls 80s also had a way of teaching us 80s kids some values and morals. Not just laugh at ridiculous hair and nail jokes. I find today's teen tv absolutely brainless. These were shows that made us think and feel good about ourselves and taught us a thing or two about responsibilities and morals. I can not even understand what today's shows are even about. I miss these days like nothing else. The 80s were a better time. Great era to be a kid in.

  • @eepruls lol @ "incessant over the top laugh track" SO TRUE

  • @lol21432 Yup! In the 80's it was a real audience so the laughter was genuine when something was actually funny. Now that ridiculous laugh track is so over used, the 'audience' is laughing at every little thing that happens when it's not even funny. It's sad when the laugh track is needed to indicate when you're 'supposed' to be laughing instead of, well, just having a well written and funny show.

  • @lol21432 I could not agree with you more. I am 35 and we did grow up in such a better time with so much more to our entertainment than just brainless teasing and untalented music and laughter. We were taught about life and morals and what it took to be a good human being. It carried a feel good atmosphere that you can't find anywhere today unless you head to Amazon and buy your favorites. Punky Brewster, Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Silver Spoons all made you feel happy.

  • @The777butterflies exactly!

  • @The777butterflies

    exactly

  • lady godiva is smokin' hot.

  • not at all...lmao. :]

    i luv silver spoons.

  • Who knew this internet dating was on way back in 1985 check the copyright at the end of the video.

  • It was great to see this show again. Thanks for posting!

  • Internet dating has come a long way since then. Maybe not enough though. Ha ha ha ...

  • OMG I just noticed these were the the original NBC episodes. Just like the ones I recently bought.

  • CAN U PLEASE PUT UP THIS EPISODE

"Trouble with Words" OR DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET IT

  • Damn I miss these times

  • last time i watched this i was 87years old.

  • jajajajaja!!

  • florescent green was so in at this time

  • wow cool, i didn't realize what BBS was until watching this show and then checking wiki. i guess they had some form of internet in the 80's

  • The internet was invented in the 60's.

  • Comment removed

  • The internet was invented in 1973.

  • @piccolomaster

    By Al Gore. lol

  • @sdegroot1 LOL!!!!!!

  • @piccolomaster actually, the internet has been around since the mif 60s and it was called ARPANET, but wasnt made available for the public; unless you meant in terms of instant messaging or chatting

  • @lol21432 yes I meant in terms of instant messaging and chatting.

  • man I miss shows like this. I used to watch this show all the time. thanks for posting

  • shes so down for the ricker.betcha 50 he takes her home.

  • Watching SSs made me ask my dad for Penny Loafers. I got them and they were cool for about a month, then they fell apart. LOL @ the end, "Next on Punky Brewster...Then tonight on an all new Night Rider....and on the World Premier of Half Nelson". lol F'n Awesome

  • Wow the 80's, sweet and innocent time. Even meeting up from bbs was sweet and innocent.. how did society get all crazy afterwards?

  • easy, the media.

  • I know...I miss the eighties. Meeting ppl in person from computers is ruined because of rapists & pedophiles.

  • what a red haring.

  • Hey I'm just being honest man!!! I'm entitled to a free speech.

  • Don't forget about bots and spammers. I can't even get a date with anyone over the computer either.

  • Oh, God. I cringe every time I see that lame move where the girl drops something, and they both reach for it at the same time, and then their eyes meet...

Also, how did she know what Rick looked like in her dream before she had seen him?

  • She knew what he looked like because they exchanged pictures.

Hillariously disturbing episode. The parents encouraging their 14 year old son to meet a stranger from a BBS, the oedipus-laden dream sequence where the father is dating (and presumably boning) this girl, and dancing in a diner (what the...). Brilliant.

  • In a first season episode RIck and Eddie meet an adult woman and teenage girl. Rick asks 'Which one do you want?' The Dad says something like I'll take the tall one.'

Never get away with something like that noww except on the pedophilia joke laden Family Guy.

  • It's the fault of the ones that are paranoid about that. They are real scum.

  • they exchanged pictures, pay attention waVYG!!

  • i am impressed. Katie Barberi is also mexican and speaks perfect spanish and perfect english i can't believe i didn't remember her!

  • xtube is the e rated version of this site! much better

  • Embarassingly, I miss this show.

  • Why be embarrassed about it? I still love watching it. I still love a lot of the things we had back then and think it was a whole lot better than anything now.

  • hillarious. this show would be banned today because of internet predators... awesome.

  • ummm????? can you explain the relevance to this video?

  • it's a show from the early 90's... you'll need to watch part 1 and 2.

  • i watched about 30 seconds and thought it was tacky american crap- that was enough. Im guessing then your comment was about the storyline, i wont watch it so ill never know.

  • basically the story is about meeting a girl over the internet, and it was likely the first show to address this topic.

  • Did the internet even exist back then? what year was this? i thought it was early 80s.

  • it was in the 80s. we didn't have internet, but we connected to local BBS's with very slow dial up modems.

  • was it called prestel or something?

  • "what year was this? i thought it was early 80s." - I think this episode is 1985 or so. Kinda interesting, it is about meeting someone online, via the BBS.

  • Its a show from the early 80's not 90's!

  • Thanks for the episode. It brought back memories. I was 10 then and I was in love with Ricky! That was great TV then...except her getting stuck in the booth...that would no way be on TV today, you think? And I didn't know what "grogging" was, did anyone else then?

  • Shroader should of boned her

  • That was fucked up to over exaggerate the girl being so obese she needed help getting up. Not nice.

  • Geez... it was supposed to be exaggerated, or don't you understand the point of sitcoms?

  • You missed the point dude... Lay off the drugs. lol It was a dream sequence!! a Fantasy... A Frigging dream! Whats more it was the GIRLZ dream... Damn son dont you know almost every woman thinks that she is fat? Thats why they need us guys to reasure them that No hunny, Your not fat. It's just your... wait for it.... I M A G I N A T I O N.

  • dude, i wish i was as cool as the ricker!! he gets all the babes!

  • I really enjoyed the added bonus of the "line-up" of the following shows at the end of this show! Punky Brewster, Night Rider... Wow.. I enjoy these vintage raw TV programs much more than any DVD.

Thanks for the upload, you have unlocked a lot of my previously-forgotten memories!

  • Amen to that! That's why even if I ever buy every DVD of every show I like, I'll still keep the original recordings I have. I love all the nostalgic and classic commercials that are a part of the old original recordings. And the style of the network at the time and stuff like that.

  • oh my goodness! me too!.. I've got a lot of tv shows and movies taped off TV ....a big collection of VHS tapes and it's neat to see the old commercials (well, they're actually from the 90s, but still!)...it's neat seeing the movie ads too.

  • wow...This was my favorite episode of SS. Haven't seen it since '85

  • puppy luv

  • People were really into showing their forearms back then.

  • hahahaha great video.. thanks for posting!!!!

  • This was March 24, 1985-the date that the pilot movie

for Half Nelson aired on the NBC Sunday Movie.

  • That's so cool to know. What I don't get is why should they get nervous? I mean, it's just meeting someone. =/

I've just gone right up and introduced myself before. :P No worries. What're they gonna say? No? I just need a time, money and ride to places people would wanna meet at.

  • There arent shows like these anymore. What we have today is steamline garbage; across the boards. Reality TV has completely taken over broadcast television and the result is....pretty devestating.

  • Sound as if you could have case of "generation gap."

  • I agree. I don't watch TV hardly at all. TV is garbage now.

  • the less funny thing is lots of girls still see themselves that way, even today. interesting to see them confronting that even back then.

  • The Ricker!

  • Why are they dancing at a diner?

  • did they do it?

  • Probably not because this was innocent television, unlike today's garbage that fills kids' minds.

  • Thank you so much! I have some of these episodes from nick @ nite on tape. But this one is one I have not seen since it was aired. Brings back so many memories. This was a true blue feel good show - most 80s were but this really had that fluff to it that made ya "feel good about yourself". Great show! If you have more, please post! Thanks again!

  • I will be posting more episodes soon....just been busy lately.

  • Thanks for sharing I just love finding all these old 80's shows online. I feel like a kid again. Ricky Schroder was a few years older than me but he was cute and still is.

  • hahahahaah I LOVEEEEEE SILVER SPOONS!!

  • I remember seeing this ep

  • That brings back memories!Thank you for uploading!

  • Great ending! Thanks! She has a dream too! LOL Was this an original run thing that you uploaded?! Cool if so!!

  • Yea it was during the original run.

  • rick is so hot in that sweater
