@Marioshi64 The smaller Jason sprite is definitely a benefit, but I don't see the former two as "improvements." They're just different things, not necessarily better things.
@tvandlust Blaster Master (NES) is my favorite game of all time, PERIOD; but I still see some things that can be made better; the resizing of Jason worked wonders as well as Hidden Power Ups like the Shotgun and Armor upgrades, the 3rd, which is the key factor gives us a reason to explore all of those dungeons
The original had more useless dead ends than this one had, because many times I'd go through a gruesome dungeon only to find out there's no boss
I think a password system is good since it's on a handheld system, so it gives you a means of saving your progress. Of course a battery-backed save would be better, but it's better than nothing :p
I wish the original would come out on the wii VC.I also wish "Wild Guns"(SNES) and "Rocket Knight Adventures"(Genesis) would come out on the VC as well. Hopefully they release Rocket knight Adventures to coincide with the updated versions release.
this is a damn good game. if u have a 3DS, buy this! its SO satisfying

You should've mentioned the keys, hidden power ups and resizing of Jason to maneuver easier; those are the 3 main improvements to the original

Blaster Master Boy was a sequel to Robowarrior on the NES. Just saying.

<3 Enemy Below. It's not -quite- as good as the original but has better mazes and bosses that rival the greatness of those in the original.

All this series did was put the catacomb levels that belonged in level three, with level 2 and so on. it was kind of stupid.

Great review!
Man, I love the Blaster Master theme tune. Glad to hear they kept it in this game.
