I think you are partly right. There was glaciers at Kilimanjaro Massif, Mount Kenya and the Ruwenzori Mountains and some other high land areas and there are still glaciers left in som e places. Though that's not the point... There is a high probability that the climate change is occurring at a much greater speed than before the last ice ages. When it comes to what you call "taxing" I think you have to learn some about economical incentive structures...
