  • That was an incredible impersenation of an american. I am an american & I live in western North Carolina. ( yes, the old south ) The southern accent isn't easy to imitate. That's just what I have been told by other friends I have in England, Scotland, & Ireland. Look up the accent of western, north carolina & see if you can imitate it. I however, do not have the accent of a southerner. I am also challenging myself to imitate your accent as best I can. Wish me luck!!!!

  • sorry

  • chumbawambakick in fass rastsmokya dead...............bye

  • you sound so cute as an american!

  • The sound in the American "kitty" or "boating" isn't quite a d; it's called an alveolar flap (or tap), sort of in between "t" and "d."

  • were you speaking in an american accent the whole time or just when you did that ....kitty kitty patty patty.... thing? i couldnt really tell? i think your accent is quite soft if you were speaking nomally and if you werent i think your accent slipped a little bit

i like the music you put in btw :) good luck on your american accent journey lol

Like my parents say, "it sounds like they have a mouthful of potatoes when they talk"

...I guess that's why gum may help! AHAHA. =p

But yeah.. I don't like the American/Canadian 'garbled' accent.

  • Not only are you a more than rather gorgeous Britt!, you also can fake an American accent really well.

  • Say no to gum. Me no like!

Curiously its good to fight plaque with but bad for ones fillings (if you have them).

  • gum helps.

  • aw, you're cute! :)

  • Why are you trying to perfect a Canadian accent. Your accent sounds just fine to me (a Canadian). :)

  • nice use of the dandys

  • my my.what big eyes you have.

  • ooo, I feel warmth over that song young folks, Chewing gum doesn't seem to have much of an impact, you look alot like my friend,..Pia??

  • try talking a little bit faster. the cum helped a little bit, but some of the words sounded like your normal voice.

  • The what helped a little bit?

  • lol

  • no diffrence.your voice is really beautiful=D

  • omg, so cute, plzzz let me kiss u

  • I am sure you have thought of this or someone may have already mentioned this to you, but anyways I thought maybe reciting the days of the week may be helpful? and reciting the months?

  • wow i think you sounded really different with the gum. also wut i noticed was that the way americans said the words was just less pronunciated. What this is saying about americans...you tell me?

  • well... i think u sound the same... but i really dont think it matters that much... i guess u sound a little different... but i like ur voice i guess... lol

  • One extra Ice ?? i don´t think that´s the right chewing gum to modificate your accent. Try a bigger one - or take more of the extra ice. so its better you make a video with realy realy a lot of chewing gum in your mouth. i am sure that would sound realy nice :-)

  • THE ENGLISH ACCENT ONLY CAME OUT A COUPLE TIMES ,,THE REST OF THE TIME YOU SOUNDED AMERICAN TO ME,,I DONT THINK THE GUM MADE MUCH DIFF,I THINK YOU ARE JUST TALENTED LIKE THAT U KNOW,,:p BUT YEA UR AMERICAN IS DEAD ON ACCURATE I THINK:p BILLYF.

  • Frankly, I love the Briton accent. Be proud of it!

  • im irish i dont have the dublin accent lol

  • Dandy Warhols!

  • Wow, great accent! My General American isn't too good, maybe I'll try with the gum.

Love the Dandy Warhols opening. =)

  • why the hell would you want to sound American ?

  • omggg i love your eyes!!!

  • omggg i love your eyes!!!

  • The "t" and "d" thing is common here in Southwestern Ontario as well. I can usually tell if someone is not from around here if they pronounce "Toronto" the way it is spelled. I find that people native to the area (myself included) get lazy I guess and pronounce it something akin to "Tor-ah-no". Same with Ottawa - I usually say "Odd-a-wa".

You sounded much more North American with the t's as d's.

  • and by the way..wat's the second song called? the one with all the whistling??

  • Peter, Bjorn and John- Young Folks.

I love that song, that explains me whistling along. haha. :) Enjoy!x

  • well i guess i should thank you because you've got me addicted to the song that plays in the beginning of this video, "not if you were the last junkie on earth" !!!

  • I think your accent is sensational. Did you ever view my reply to your canadian/american accent video? As you are learning an american accent, I'm trying to learn your English accent. We're the same, but we're different at the same time.

  • wow, you are right on with the whole t vs. d thing, when you changed all the words around they sounded very american

one thing to keep in mind, is that i noticed you were adding a bit of an "err" sound after a word ending with "a", thats very british, and so to stay america make sure you stick that "a" sound in the end.for example a british accent would say "pizz-ehr" very lightly, while an american would stress "pizz-ah" when talking about the food pizza.

  • Thank you for being so helpful, much appreciated! =)

  • anytime! i find it really interesting, the whole differences between accents. I've tried doing a british accent before, and its really hard! i should make a video of it one day, just so you can have a good laugh! haha

but anyway, if you ever got bored or anything, you should try doing a southern american accent, thats totally different then the one your on, and it could be a cool challenge!

  • A good friend of mine lives in Louisiana and he's from the South. =)

I'll upload one for you this week, before i move house. Shall I give you a shout out, say hey to 'moviedancekid' or your name? :)

  • That sounds cool to me! If you want, you can go check out one of the rediculous videos me and my friends made (a loongggg time ago!) haha. We're from New Jersey, and so you can check out that accent if you want.

We basically sound like a bunch of news broadcasters, its quite boring. But I do beg you to excuse any random behavior in the video, we were just being crazy! :P

  • ah i never realized that before! especially with the 'greater'. we say 'greater' and 'grader' the exact same

  • whoaa. i just noticed that! americans do say the d instead of the t.

  • yeah t0nito,

Completely true! Americans have serious issues with the letter T. If it's not turned into a D, it's dropped, if it's not dropped we find it hard to fully pronounce. The funny thing is that 99% of Americans don't even realize any of this. I know I didn't untill I started reading up, and now I analyze every word I hear. Fascinating! The beauty of the American accent is the fact that un-knowingly pronounce most words wrong.

  • i think you shouldnt change ya accent at all ey i love english accents hot

  • You have the most amazing eyes...the accent is charming, but your eyes are beautiful.

  • one question.. where you from? lol

  • London, the capital of England! :)

  • oh sorry lol i meant if we were to say for ex. "marty" it would come out "mardy" or for "katie" "kaddy" however, saying the word "latin" would come out "lat'n" the "i" sound would be for the most part droped. other examples for words like that would "satin" ..."sat'n" or "martin" ..."mart'n" you get the jist. except it's tricky cause sometimes we randomly keep the "i" it all depends on which kind of american accent. fyi im from so cal

  • Ohh great, thanks very much! :)

  • Well I guess it depends on what region, I hear more often those words with the "t" silent. Latin as la-in, martin mar-in, button as bu-in, but it's hard to describe, you pronouce the silables seperately and the seperation is done with your throat, watch this funny video here watch?v=5Lxzn9pSaxU and notice at 1:10 how she says "press that button" listen to button carefully, you'll see she doesn't say the "t" ot "d" other you can also pronounce "important" as "impor-ant" the same way. :D

  • the t/d thing makes a HUGE difference. it sounds a lot better. don't know if it's the gum or not though. & btw i don't now how you say it in your american accent so you may already know this but we pronounce the beginning of "america" as in "a-mare...ica" or i guess "am-air...ica" so theres no "e" anywhere. sry it's a little random. also, good music choice with the dandy warhols... i love them

  • I'm just trying to figure out what 't/d' means.. Could you explain that? I thought it was short for today, hmmm?

    Thanks for the comment, 1point618mph!

I'm still finding it quite difficult to pronounce America in an American accent! haha.

    Hopefully, I'll nail it! :)

  • You are so much fun to watch! I still think you sound more American than most the people I know here in the states :)

  • gum really doesn't work, everything is already inside you, all you need is just a some kind of shock to realease your accent potential, try something dangerous! :)

  • hahaa. :) That was an excellent response, thanks!

I suppose you're right in saying about accent potential.

  • oh.. that's really cool.. :)i like this song where somebody whictling a strange melody... can't you tell me what is it?.. plaease?..

  • Type into YouTube- "Peter, Bjorn & John- Young Folks"

I've been in love with that song for a while. :)

  • Thank you :)

  • I love yer voice, its SO relaxing.

  • Oh thanks! :)

  • Hehe, i just realised how weird that read :P But Ive subscribed, which is odd cause i never subscribe! Look forward to more vids :)

  • ahh now should i drow ma heart beat?.. when she goes i go...

  • hahaa. Are they song lyrics or something?

  • ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~~~~``~~`~~````~~~~~``~`

  • You're so mysterious..

I don't know what you're all about?! Hmm..

  • Lol, glad that helped :). Oh yeah my name's Lissa (short for Melissa) I put that L for Lissa in front of Illinois making it Lillinois. Yeah I couldn't think of anything else, sorry for the confusion :P. But anyways I think you did really well!

  • Ahh, so you're NOT Lilly! Opps! :)

Thanks for your input and useful comments, very much appreciate your thoughts!

  • this goes back to your response to my "re.questions" video. it depends on where you want to sound from. in the north east u.s. there are lazy R's a friend of mine pronounces quarter-cahdda i pronounce it corder.

i am completely baffled by some italians from the area that pronounce oil-earl 'the only time they pronounce an R is when its not in the word. same for toilet-terlit i could go on for a while there are suttle differences in each city from philidelphia up to boston(bahston)

  • great work! keep it up. :)

  • Aww, thanks! :)

    Hope you're keeping well AOEGuy!
