Dale Earnhardt's crash is the reason Michael McDowell and several others are still alive today (perhaps even Gordan at Las Vegas '08). If not for Earnhardt's crash opening NASCAR's eyes, the cars would not be near as safe. If there's one good thing that can be had from the 2001 Daytona 500, it's this simple fact. R.I.P. Dale.

Why the fuck did everyone hate Gordon when he carried the flag? People are a bitch when they shouldn't be. Gordon is the nicest driver out there, he donates and holds charities.

Dale was a legand, He was one of the most loved NASCAR drivers in NASCAR. That was the worst crash in NASCAR history. He raced that track all his life trying to win the DAYTONA 500. He lost that race in any way Thinkable! He blew a tire on the last lap, blew an engine, ran out of gas, a segal hit the fron of his car! And yet hit finally one the DAYTONA 500 in 1998.
He won that race once! only once in his career, in 2001 he was trying to do it again, but he was killed by hitting the wall coming out of turn 4. He died doing what he loved. RACING. Don't you ever laugh at this video. Shame On You.
That was the big crash? I can't believe he died from a relatively minor crash. The car didn't go up in flames, it didn't flip over, it didn't hit anything with too great of an impact. I've seen much worse crashes from which people survived.
At the time, most drivers didn't wear them. It was kinda a freak incident, since it was a _relatively_ minor crash. It was worse than it looks though. Much like hitting a brick wall at 75 mph.
