in your other videos , your horse doesnt move as much , but in this one she does, maybe she was a bit figity and mum horse is that colour but a irish throughbred x
@miniaturehorselvr well, they do most things right, but like in this video, she should've hit it on the shoulder for pawing, even though she did,he kept on doing it,so she could've done it again when he was pawing some more (not a hard smack but enough to make them stop!) & when he tried to bite her! >.< omg i wish i could teach that horse a lesson! lol
If you hit a horse when he tries to bite or kick it's okay, to a certain degree. If a horse is doing something dangerous then you should do anything you can to protect yourself so you can both be safer. Some people are cruel though, or uneducated, and don't recognize when you should hit for a bite and when not to.. the answer to every horse question is "It Depends" :3
Yh good luck with that one, that horse looks like the biggest pain in the ass!! When I had my first horse it did this all the time, scraping the floor with its hooves and tossing its head like its got half a brain missing! In the end I bought another horse with more manners cause no matter how much i loved it, there was noteaching it better.
@b0z123 First, learn how to spell. The horse is disciplined, Just because its pawing it doesn't mean its not good. Pawing is when they are bored or want to roll like TheStormrider98 said. Some horses can be grumpy! Its a part of life!. Did you see the horse biting? NO! Did you see the horse bucking? NO! Did you see the horse rear? NO! Get your facts right before making remarks!
@BBONK95 for one if the horse is moving around and stamping its foot it needs to be corrected and needs to learn to stand patiently. BTW if you let your horse get away with that it can lead to bucking biting and rearing so you get your facts straight because whoever said this horse needs dicipline was right. if you really new anything about horses then ou would correct you horse for doing that to
@ChukchiCatori Actually, most horses don't like being rode or lead. For them it's like people going to a job they hate. Some will do what they can to "get out of" being rode. It was a behavioral change with the horse communicating it wasn't wanting it. It should be corrected because if you don't keep it in check, the horse will continue do "misbehave" in other ways because it can tell the rider isn't confidant.
when I take off the halter I just put it around the nech and hook it like you would normally around the head that way you know for sure that they wont run off. never use your hand unless the horse is well trained and will stand with out being tied up.
i agree ttht u hv to show a horse tht u meen bisuiness and tht they shudnt do anything wrong like with my horse ho gets extremly marish and very moody so if she kicks me i slap her not very hard but just to tell her hus boss but seriously tht horse i just taking the mick and tht girl just thinks shees so special lol xxx
mares can be very moody it doesnt necissarily mean they are badly trained, the mare i ride can be very moody but she does settle down after a little while.
@cylindermatch Hitting your horse when he goes to bite you is ok. It teaches them to not bite the rider. If the horse kicks you, you knee them in the gut not to hard but hard enough to feel it. It's not wrong unless you abuse the horse for no reason. It's just bite for a bite and kick for a kick. It's just teaching the horse to not do something that could injure you.
@sanderson31741 ya and when you do hit it you wanna ues a cuped hand this crates a louder sound and dos not hert as much. whin you kike the horse you use your ne NEVER your toe this do to being in boots could inger the horse
@sanderson31741 thats Negative reinforcement , positive reinforcement works just as well. I knew a horse that was hit when it did things wrong, such as biting or rearing, and he turned from calm and gentle, to insane whenever his owners went near him. more people should try positive reinforcement!
love your horse... she only hit the horse becasue he was hitting the hoof on the ground people you guys are making such a big deal about hitting the horse OMG. great job saddling
that horse was really antsy and i dont think she liked her putting all of that tack on! haha. at that time..... and didnt feel like being tacked up hahaha!! my horse is never like tht.....sometimes she just moves around a lot while i am doing that. she has scraped her hoof on the floor like that horse was doing.....that means there mad. lol. but after once u get it all set....your horse calms down after a while....and once u start to ride...... u and your horse enjoy the wonderful ride!!! lol.
She looked scared of the horse at how antsy she was around the horse and that horse had no respect for her, my horses great getting everything on them, pretty horse but needs a respect lesson, but this is only my opinion!
I went horse riding today, and i havent been for ages so i forgot how to tack up. we helped in the stables today me and my sister, and my horse is really cheeky, thanks for putting this vid on :)
Nooooo! They don`t! Horse`s do NOT like sudden movements at all! They like nice, slow movements. When you`re around a horse you should move like your underwater.Unless you know FOR SURE that the horse is not the type to spook.
i seen u were trying to make her stop pawing at 0:46 because i seen ur hand what u do is SLAP the SHIT out of her because if u let her do that now then shes going to think that she can keep doing it and i dont care if ur on cam or not u still need to correct ur horse
It is never okay to hit an animal.N-E-V-E-R for ANY reason! Unless its trying to attack you. You just have to tap it,just to make it realize that what its doing is wrong.
lol my dog used to bite alot till we started to lightly smack her and say no then she would sulk for a while now she dosent bite anymore but always jumps up aha
@Cylindermatch thats how you teach them that its NEVER okay to bite you. If you don't give them a whack, they won't listen to you. And she didn't hit it hard, its a fricken 1500lb animal, it you just 'tap' it, it wont even feel it!
im sorry but the girth goes behind the ELBOW not the shoulder....but its just a term....you might want to work on your knowledge of the parts of the horse.
If this is the same horse that you have used in your other videos, I'm not sure why she is acting this way. Perhaps your horse is just fidgety or uncomfortable, which a lot are. But she does seem agitated.
ever think that you should mind your own buisness? I know when people do that to me its annoying and they should keep their comments to themselves. Take a hint.
Im sorry but your horse needs a bit of schooling i hope you don't take this the wrong way but there are a few things you need to improve on. If your horse is behaving badly give him a firm (not hard ) slap and growl at him. A lot of the tme the girth is already attached at one side and you just need to fasten it at one side . the cheeckstrap is normally done up and you just need to fasten your noseband and throatlatch. don't you use risers on your horses? but you have a beautiful horse
You need to train you horses better. None of my horses ever gave me that much trouble. I don't need to hold their heads when I put the bridal on. They always stand perfectly still. Sorry but I feel your horses need to learn ground manners & respect. That young grey needs a good firm one punch on the nose to earn a bit of respect not to bite .
Try spending more time on your ground work to gain a more respectful horse when tacking up.
This is all great... except for the bridling part... Usually there isn't that much fidgeting or that big of a problem with a horse and I can guarentee u just scared the crap out of a beginner. But GREAT video! u may want to use a less difficult horse for the bridle. But good job anyways!
Maybe good to take the bridle section over again. The horse was scaring beginner viewers, to be sure. Too much fidgeting and movement to be able to see what you were trying to show. Great concept, though.
This is a bit better than the Horse Care & Riding: How to tack a horse.. Because she tells you what to do and what sort of things to do, where the other one just shows you
your horse has really bad manners... the way she is chomping and gnawing is sometimes a bad habit brought up by being stressed. she was being very impatient as soon as the video started by nipping and pawing. you should try to change that because she can learn bad habits.
If you're 12, is it too late to get a first horse and learn things like tacking it, and grooming it? I know how to mount and ride a horse, but I have never had one before... I realise that I need A LOT of room for a horse, not like a tiny backyard. We are thinking about moving to a rural area.
And if it's not too late to get a first horse (or pony), do you suggest going to things such as horse camp rather than watching videos, just so I can be sure of what I'm doing?
It is never to late to get a horse! I am thirteen and still don't have a horse yet! :D
Your probably already know this, and I don't want to sound like a 'know it all', but getting the horse and finding a stable isn't all what owning a horse is about. You need to consider veterinary expenses. They have to get their teeth done, their feet done every six weeks. They have to be dewormed, and depending on the horse you get some need diff suppelements and richer hay, which does cost more. Next reply>
nope. im not allowed to get my first horse till im 16, but u have to be pretty experienced cause but u have to remember that its alottt of money think about it the vet $300-$400 at least 2 times a year, if something happens and your horse needs surgery that can cost up to $1500, farrier ever 7 weeks can cause like $85 dollars a vist boarding depends my stable its $400 a month i think thats pretty cheap when you get it you gotta buy bridle saddle saddle pads girth stirrups bit its aalot of moneyy
12 too late?! Most people begin riding when they're your parents' age:) What a wonderful time to start, Spottedleaf! yes, camps are a great way to learn and get confidence doing so.
umm u cant just asume the horse is groomed u have to know, cause something could be caught under the skin or dirt bunched up under the saddle and gives them pain
ur smacking works doesnt it.... not! shes still biting you and stamping her feet... doesnt it ring a bell that ur smacking methods dnt work. dip stick
well every1 has their own way of tacking up their horses. i personally tack mine up like this because i feel comfortable doing so. and same with my horse. she is more comfortable with the girth behind her shoulders. believe me i kno when a horse is in heat and they usually have their tails up arabs are very proud horses and they only really put their tails up if they are showing off. how would i know? my family has only been breeding horses for 20 odd years sao yeah, i thinnk i would know.
I heard some horror stories about horses strangling themselves in tie stalls. And to the idiot who thinks every horse who has its tail up is in heat - 1 word. Arabians. {start sarcasm}Yep. cos those stallyuns must be in heat what with their tail UP like that!{end sarcasm}
That's one way to do it. Where I ride, we only do that on one or two horses- horses that will just rip the bridle out of people's hands to go attack the other horses. I trust the horse that I'm bridling won't run away.
Come people, do you really want her to disipline the horse on this video? This is a video of how to tack a horse, not to disepline one!!! The horse is just bored, my horse does all the same stuff when he is bored. If she needs/wants to disepline this horse it is up to her!
Thats a beautiful horse you got there. Except for one thing. Maybe you can just see whats wrong with her because she looked VERY unhappy. And dont listen to what all those other people say. You dont actually have to disipline her. Just talk to her sweetyly and reasure her. Dont slap her because that will do no good. HONEST!
TRAIN THIS HORSE!!! It obviously doesn't want to be bothered right now, and you are risking injusry for the horse, you, and the tack!! Its not happy at all during this!
heyy why dont you mind your own damn business. no horse is perfect and i doubt yours is. if you even have your own horse. she obviously knows her horse is acting up. if you knew anything about horses you would know that mares act up. read a book and learn the facts before you judge. k hun ?
Sweetie, she needs to train her horse a bit better. I've read books, maybe you need to learn to spell correctly. If she cared she would have stopped filming and calmed her horse down a bit. Wow, people like you need to go get a life instead of replying to comments like mine from a few months ago!
her mare is obviously in heat. look at her tail in all the other videos. UP !! I've owned horses all my life. Trust me honey, i know what im doing. Just because you own 200 bryers doesn't mean you know anything. peace hun :)
Peace your ass! oh ant wtf does "UP!!' mean?? xD MWHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!! LEARN NOT TO MESS WITH PEOPLE WHO LIDE FIGHTING HUNNY! BRING IT ON! lol But seriously, picking a fight with me was the wrong thing to do!
oh dear. what are you like 12 ? based on your videos i would guess yeah. and her tail is up because shes in heat you dumb bitch. so dont act like you know everything about horses because you obviously dont know know anything. I'm honestly not afraid of you. i was raised in baltimore. do not step to me.
" When tacking a horse begin with teaching it not to bite first " This is not a very happy horse, it ears are back the whole time. I counted five times this horse tried to bite.
Wow!! I just assumed it was a stallion by the way it was trying to nip and the hyperness you called it her. You don't even disipline it for trying to bite? "I hope no "CHILDREN" get around her" By the way the horse is acting, it is probably the one that is in control. This horse has some issues.
Pain in the butt horse wasn't a good model. Cool horse, though.

This is a bit better than the Horse Care & Riding: How to tack a horse.. Because she tells you what to do and what sort of things to do, where the other one just shows you
99nikdaz 2 years ago
at 0:44 when horse is doing this with his leg you must scold him because he can destroy your floor
9sammy5 2 years ago
your horse has really bad manners... the way she is chomping and gnawing is sometimes a bad habit brought up by being stressed. she was being very impatient as soon as the video started by nipping and pawing. you should try to change that because she can learn bad habits.

Thanks,
Spottedleaf

(and yes, I know I will need to get the horse/pony a stable etc.)
Spottedleaf492 2 years ago
It is never to late to get a horse! I am thirteen and still don't have a horse yet! :D
Your probably already know this, and I don't want to sound like a 'know it all', but getting the horse and finding a stable isn't all what owning a horse is about. You need to consider veterinary expenses. They have to get their teeth done, their feet done every six weeks. They have to be dewormed, and depending on the horse you get some need diff suppelements and richer hay, which does cost more. Next reply>

I would suggest going to a camp and doing everything you can to be around horses, because that is what it will be like when you get your own.
Good luck! :D

Thank you very much :)

nope. im not allowed to get my first horse till im 16, but u have to be pretty experienced cause but u have to remember that its alottt of money think about it the vet $300-$400 at least 2 times a year, if something happens and your horse needs surgery that can cost up to $1500, farrier ever 7 weeks can cause like $85 dollars a vist boarding depends my stable its $400 a month i think thats pretty cheap when you get it you gotta buy bridle saddle saddle pads girth stirrups bit its aalot of moneyy
horsechick100 2 years ago
12 too late?! Most people begin riding when they're your parents' age:) What a wonderful time to start, Spottedleaf! yes, camps are a great way to learn and get confidence doing so.

well every1 has their own way of tacking up their horses. i personally tack mine up like this because i feel comfortable doing so. and same with my horse. she is more comfortable with the girth behind her shoulders. believe me i kno when a horse is in heat and they usually have their tails up arabs are very proud horses and they only really put their tails up if they are showing off. how would i know? my family has only been breeding horses for 20 odd years sao yeah, i thinnk i would know.
horseluva1221 2 years ago
I heard some horror stories about horses strangling themselves in tie stalls. And to the idiot who thinks every horse who has its tail up is in heat - 1 word. Arabians. {start sarcasm}Yep. cos those stallyuns must be in heat what with their tail UP like that!{end sarcasm}

1st no u dont put it right behind its shoulders then the musels cant work and i learn from a olimpian tranier
2nd DONT TACK HORSE UP ON RIGHT SIDE!!!
3RD horse dues not like you he is in digging hole movment
4th thats not how u put a bridle on u put the halter over its head first then take it off when the bridle is on
5th u suck
BreyerKrazy 2 years ago
when you take off the halter, you have to put keep it on the neck. don't just take it iff. only the nose part has to be removed.
alinanazarenko1 2 years ago
That's one way to do it. Where I ride, we only do that on one or two horses- horses that will just rip the bridle out of people's hands to go attack the other horses. I trust the horse that I'm bridling won't run away.

NicoleE298 2 years ago
Come people, do you really want her to disipline the horse on this video? This is a video of how to tack a horse, not to disepline one!!! The horse is just bored, my horse does all the same stuff when he is bored. If she needs/wants to disepline this horse it is up to her!
emisgirl9388 3 years ago
she deffinintly wants to bit her
bs4eva19 3 years ago
Thats a beautiful horse you got there. Except for one thing. Maybe you can just see whats wrong with her because she looked VERY unhappy. And dont listen to what all those other people say. You dont actually have to disipline her. Just talk to her sweetyly and reasure her. Dont slap her because that will do no good. HONEST!
devo1961 3 years ago
TRAIN THIS HORSE!!! It obviously doesn't want to be bothered right now, and you are risking injusry for the horse, you, and the tack!! Its not happy at all during this!
SuperstarShelby 3 years ago
heyy why dont you mind your own damn business. no horse is perfect and i doubt yours is. if you even have your own horse. she obviously knows her horse is acting up. if you knew anything about horses you would know that mares act up. read a book and learn the facts before you judge. k hun ?
fullthrottttle 2 years ago 2
Sweetie, she needs to train her horse a bit better. I've read books, maybe you need to learn to spell correctly. If she cared she would have stopped filming and calmed her horse down a bit. Wow, people like you need to go get a life instead of replying to comments like mine from a few months ago!
SuperstarShelby 2 years ago
her mare is obviously in heat. look at her tail in all the other videos. UP !! I've owned horses all my life. Trust me honey, i know what im doing. Just because you own 200 bryers doesn't mean you know anything. peace hun :)
fullthrottttle 2 years ago
Peace your ass! oh ant wtf does "UP!!' mean?? xD MWHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!! LEARN NOT TO MESS WITH PEOPLE WHO LIDE FIGHTING HUNNY! BRING IT ON! lol But seriously, picking a fight with me was the wrong thing to do!
SuperstarShelby 2 years ago
oh dear. what are you like 12 ? based on your videos i would guess yeah. and her tail is up because shes in heat you dumb bitch. so dont act like you know everything about horses because you obviously dont know know anything. I'm honestly not afraid of you. i was raised in baltimore. do not step to me.
fullthrottttle 2 years ago
Ok, so you two girls have read books and are experts horsewomen. At 16 and 12, but please keep fighting, it is quite entertaining

disipline ur horse
claireg10 3 years ago
" When tacking a horse begin with teaching it not to bite first " This is not a very happy horse, it ears are back the whole time. I counted five times this horse tried to bite.
Sis363 3 years ago
Wow!! I just assumed it was a stallion by the way it was trying to nip and the hyperness you called it her. You don't even disipline it for trying to bite? "I hope no "CHILDREN" get around her" By the way the horse is acting, it is probably the one that is in control. This horse has some issues.
