  • 1:28 lmfao

  • the part when the timpani just goes crazy is my favorite! I remember when I played this... good times :)

  • 4:35 gives me the chills!!! AND his face is hilarious, he looks close to panicking xD i love this piece!

  • This is pure gold! BRAVA!!!!!!!

  • 5:30 to the end was arranged for my marching band show this year. i got chills every time

  • Woo! I have the triangle part on this one!

  • Well way to cut off the best part of the piece... The oboe solo at the beginning... =/

  • HELLZBELLZ

  • were playin this in my orchestra i love it!!

  • 1:32 is what we adapted as the final part of this years marching band show

  • OMG :OO

    amazing!

  • what is that huge WHOOMPF sound? (music noob)

  • @jerryfinsternumber9 i believe that might be the symbals?

  • I can imagine him at 5:32 thinking " Here it comes, here it comes....QUEUE THE HORNS!!!"

  • that clarinet is seducing a coiled up cobra with his music

  • またもや感動:)すばらしい!!!かも・・・。今年定演でやるぞ!!どっかの中学でやるのでご期待を*

  • Clarinet, Oboe, Flute, and Piccolo.

  • What is the instrument at 1:45?

  • @shnathetrumpet I believe that is an English Horn

  • beautiful

  • beatiful

  • @firehead2591 where?

  • 1:10

    Rockin' triangle solo.

  • Beautiful interpretation!

  • It's performances like this that make me truly regretful that I never learned to play music. Beautiful!

  • um... WHERE'S THE OBE SOLO AT THE BEGINNING???

  • I absolutely love this piece and how it's played, but for some reason the part from 2:35 onwards made me laugh so hard I cried. Especially that guy with the cymbals

  • We're playing this song for contest :) its so frickin awesome :)

  • Which orchestra is this? I know one of the violists. :D

  • Girl's thoughts at 1:37 "This guy really likes oboe."

  • @Cleric2145 that's an english horn. but other than that, yes :)

  • @vballrock520 Ah, I guess I should take more than a glance next time. My mistake haha :)

  • We're playing this for IHSA (Illinois High School Association) Contest. I love this piece. I'm in the 2nds.

  • i love the cantebile part =D

  • うまし

  • i love this song, it reminds of the exoticness of the east back in the 19th century, like when Saint-Saens was around. It's just cool

  • Really good performance.

  • i'm sorry but why is the cello sitting place is different? o thought violists are supposed to be in the center, not the cello..

  • @benzackry It depends on the maestro. Some love to have violins at both sides and viola and cellos in the middle.

  • School bands doing this for concert season. Glad i'm on bells.

  • I have good memories with this piece. Played it at Summerfest with the New Orleans youth symphony, it was awesome.

  • HOLY COW! we're playing this piece for the Arkansas Northern All-Region. I'm 2nd chair first violin..but that Timpani solo is EPIC! i wish i could play the timp.

  • @stravelius, as a conductor, i'd probably omit the oboe cadenza myself. Please do not kill me for this, but so be it

  • one word: EPIC.

  • lol look at some of da expressions on da voilinists faces :P :D hahaha

  • @pieguyfry22 hahaha, if i had the tools (and knowledge) i would edit out the background and orchestra and audio, then create a club scene background, and play some rave music. possibly basshunter.

  • I love the woodwind sixteenth notes in this piece during the main theme... for some reason hearing that with the melody gives me chills... I think Saint-Saens wanted the woodwind sixteenth notes to really propel the melody along and give it a "push" while at the same time giving the melody an amorous charm

  • is the brass drag between 0:49 and 0:52 volontary? It scared the hell out of me :P

  • Why do they speed it up? It would be so much better at normal speed. Still great.

  • WOW...!

  • Jól zúzzák!:D

  • Ausgezeichnet! Die Energie, die Schönheit, die hochfliegenden Trills, bildet mich Schrei jedes Mal. Meine eine Reue im Leben ist, dass ich nie ein Instrument erlernte.

  • i played a shortened version of this with my high school band. my favorite piece of all time. and did anyone notice the head banging goin on with them? uber awesome.

  • Leo is such a modern conductor... I like him =)

  • @caar780821 We must agree to disagree, I am not fond of his conducting at all.

  • @MercifulMe Each head is a world...

  • heyyyy woman representing the bassists :-D

  • Featuring Mr. Bean on Tuba and Dana Carvey on Clarinet! And what was the English horn player stirring with his instrument?

Love the multiple triangle closeups. It's the most important instrument in the ensemble.

A conductor probably should not look like he's swishing flies or stirring a pot of soup. Should work on firming up that ictus.

Nice ensemble sound, but the tempo is too fast.

  • 5:32 I feel like in a storie of the One Thousand and One Nights

  • @Kjevois that would be sheherazade haha but its got the same feeling to it

  • 6:05 I love the conductor's dance :D

  • Una bestia que exelente version!!!

  • How cute is the tuba guy!!

  • Simply electrifying. The climax is exciting like I've never heard before....make you want to grab a bottle of wine and start dancing.

  • what does this have to do with Misha Maiski. could someone tell me please?

    thank you

  • This performance was part of a concert in which Misha Maisky played as a soloist. The concert was broadcasted on arte.

  • thanks

  • No oboe cadenza to start it off? :(

  • @stravelius

Sorry but the oboe cadenza was cut due to the length and size of the video...of course it was played in the concert.... ;-)

  • @Lescaut2001 do you know of a video of either just the cadenza, or one with it included

  • @Lescaut2001 How disrespectful!! =P that part should be the last part you would even think about cutting !!

  • i've played this, there isnt an oboe cadenza...

  • @kinzroo11 lolyesthereis

It's right at the beginning. I have the music for it right in front of me, I'm an oboe player.

  • @kinzroo11 you probably played an arrangement in which it is omitted. I've played the original(with the oboe cadenza played by a soprano sax) and an arrangement with the oboe solo taken out(along with the slow part in the middle)

  • finally i find a quality version of this piece

  • Excellant!
