Jim, I enjoyed your video. I added a few video responses that you might find interesting. One more vid from me coming soon. E-mail me and let me know what you know about Driving Miss Daisy. Maybe we can get together sometime and talk.
Great piece of filmmusic ! Hans Zimmer is one of those contemporary composers who are "a legend in their own lifetime" ! It must be fun for people who lived (or still live) in that area to watch this video :) Thanks very much for this upload
I love this video and the "Driving Miss Daisy" music. The music alone brings the essence of what the film was about just flooding back. A great film and this was an enjoyable video both to listen to and watch. Thank you for this post.
Ya know, Jim... as AWESOME as this video is and I do mean AWESOME (it remains one of my all time favs) perhaps it may be time to think of a possible re-do, beings vid cams are all in HD now. It wouldn't have to be as detailed as this one, as I know your a busy guy. I would love to see these sites / sights? =) through your HD eyes. Just putting a lil bug in your ear. ;) It's been 3 years. I don't think it would be considered repetitive. LoL (not to replace this one tho) -Poo/Steph
I guess I have to just "like" this video, otherwise I would rate it 1000 stars. When I was a wee little kid, I watched this movie at my great-grandmother's house. At the time, she lived in Druid Hills. She lived there for 30 years, then they gave her 30 days notice they were demolishing her complex. I also learned this movie was filmed in Douglasville, which is where I live now. I need to get this film, see if I can spot any local areas. :) Thanks!
So, Jim, when I was born in 1956 we lived on Christmas Lane off Lavista. Is that about 2-3 miles from Miss Daisy's house? Atlanta's BEAUTIFUL and we left when I was 2! I would have assumed she was in Buckhead, but that might not have been allowed with her being a 'Werthen' and all.
Love how you looped the song, one of my alltime faves. I added it to my 1989 playlist, one of 425 lists letting you hear the music of any year back to 1895 and my 300 favorite artists.
oh thank you. thank you. thank you. thankyou. thankyou. i have watched this from time to time but never commented on it. thank you soooooooo much for postin gthis. driving miss daisy is the BEST movie ever made. (i wanted to go her for my family vacation but my parents say i gotaa go camping) :] I♥ MISS DAISY!
What a wonderfully creative vid!! You did an awesome job! The drive to the "sto" was my very favorite scene. You have no idea how often "Flap around some" gets uttered in this house. Be it about a he or she or a pet. I actually watched "Scudda Hoo Scudda Hey" the other day. Took me about 30 minutes to figure out where I had seen that title before. Really...Great Job!
One of my all time favorite classics.....I especially love the scene where only Ms. Daisy knew exactly how many cans of salmon she had in the pantry and she accused Hoke of stealing one.....ONLY Ms. Daisy would do that....I believe she said she bought four cans of salmon at the Piggly Wiggly for a dollar....now,that is a classic price, I tell ya!!!!
man it looks like the house hasnt changed a bit since filming. hopefully next year when i come back to Georgia i can go to that part of Atlanta and visit the house. and yes i agree, this music rocks! lol. easily one of my favorite movies. good post bro!
To Crimefighter9mm: It is about a wealthy, old Jewish lady who is no longer capable of driving her car due to an accident and age. Her overbearing son hires a chaffeur, much to Miss Daisy's dismay. At first she is reluctant to the idea, but soon embraces her African-American chaffeur. You'll see a succession of old and classic cars from the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's as time passes. The film touches on racial prejudices and religious bigotry in the Deep South during the Civil Rights Movement.
Hello, Mr. Werthan? Yeah, it's me. Guess where I'm at? I jus' finished drivin' yo mama to da stoe. Oh, yeah, she flap around some, but she's all right, she in da stoe. Oh, Lord, she jus' looked out da window an' seen me on da phone... prob'ly gonna throw a fit right there at da checkout!
Thanks, Jim. This is one of my favorites. Miss Daisy looks and acts like my former mother-in-law from Columbia, SC. Her neighborhood also looked like Miss Daisy's. 'preciate the trip down memory/nostaglia lane. Yo High Point Momma...Love You Son
Thanks for the tour of that area, Jim. Georgia has been the location of so many great films - I'm guessing you could turn this into a series if you wanted.
It's really cool to see some of the places that movies are made. Liked the comparison between then and now. Sunny says "If it weren't for the fact that she would have to clean the snow off the car for the 5th time today, she'd go and get the movie now." After seeing this she wants to see it.
A terrific movie - how nice to see the real area! This was fun, Jim. The movie clips and the shots of today made a very interesting video! I'm glad you made it! - roc
I enjoyed it. I don't recall I ever saw the movie. I think I have wanted to just to see what the fuss was about. Now I want to see it again. I had a CD once that had instrumentals of popular movie soundtracks like this one, Total Recall, Terminator, and several others.
You put a lot of effort into this Jim thank you. I really enjoy seeing places that have been in movies and because you put in stills from the film and dialogue it brought it all back. Cheers, Lesley
Jim, my grandmother's great grandparents, Tolbert and Celia Strickland lived in Atlanta during the 1800's on Peachtree St. I have always wanted to see where it was they were. And I loved Driving Miss Daisy! Thank you for the tour! -Cindy
Cindy if you can find out where they lived on Peachtree Street, let me know and I'll make a video for you! Thanks for watching and riding along with Miss Daisy and me. -Jim
Jim, I'll ask my mom to look through her old letters. I just did a search of mine and only found Atlanta Geo. But I know I have seen Peachtree St as an address somewhere. This vid reminds me of you driving your sweet stepmom! -Cindy
Cindy they probably didn't even use address back then other than the name and street. I know that I have letters that my dad sent home from WWII and they just have the name, city and state with no street name or address. Those were the good old days I guess. -Jim
Wonderful! This is my favorite movie of all time and I was wondering if you were still going to make this video. Thanks so much - loved it. Of course, I'm favoriting this.
I love that you interspersed the movie with modern day! That Miss Daisy was a handful, wasn't she? What a pretty drive, Hoke, I mean Jim, thank you ;)
Hey Dane. They did film them crossing the Alabama line on the way to Mobile, AL. Hoke asks Miss Daisy if he ever told her about the first time he left Georgia. She said no, when was that? He replied that it was just then! It's a very good movie. I'm sure you can find a cheap DVD at WalMart. Thanks for watching. -Jim

We just loved this video Jim, thanks! Great work at putting it together. Thanks for sharing it with us! LOL can I say thanks one more time. The music was so cool! Ive watched this movie many times over, its a goodie. HUGS xoxo
Hey Peggy. I've just about worn out my VHS from watching this movie over the years. LOL Glady you enjoyed the video. I really appreciate you watching. -Jim
Oh Marc Driving Miss Daisy is required viewing! LOL It really is a great movie. You can probably pick up a DVD for five bucks at Wally World. Thanks for watching. -Jim
Wow Jim, you put a lot of work into this one! How appropriate that you posted it on Hanukkah, the festival of lights! Hanukkah marks the re-dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem after its desecration by the forces of Antiochus IV and commemorates the "miracle of the container of oil." Beautiful video!
wow, me and my mom love that movie, we loved every second of your video Jim! Thanks for sharing! Was it sunday when you filmed? the streets look so empty and calm :)
Hi Kop Kitty. Actually it was mid-day on a weekday last week. During rush hour, the traffic would be very heavy. I'm so happy that you and your mother enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
