  • You did a GREAT job with this video! Thank you! :)

  • Jim, I enjoyed your video. I added a few video responses that you might find interesting. One more vid from me coming soon. E-mail me and let me know what you know about Driving Miss Daisy. Maybe we can get together sometime and talk.

    -Robert

  • The real owner of the house was the lady with her back to camera in majong game-my friends grandmother! she was awesome!

  • Great piece of filmmusic ! Hans Zimmer is one of those contemporary composers who are "a legend in their own lifetime" ! It must be fun for people who lived (or still live) in that area to watch this video :) Thanks very much for this upload

  • @Socratess2007 I just love the movie and the music! Thanks for watching. -Jim

  • I love this video and the "Driving Miss Daisy" music. The music alone brings the essence of what the film was about just flooding back. A great film and this was an enjoyable video both to listen to and watch. Thank you for this post.

  • @0917gva Thank you so much, Gayle. I really enjoyed making this video. -Jim

  • Ya know, Jim... as AWESOME as this video is and I do mean AWESOME (it remains one of my all time favs) perhaps it may be time to think of a possible re-do, beings vid cams are all in HD now. It wouldn't have to be as detailed as this one, as I know your a busy guy. I would love to see these sites / sights? =) through your HD eyes. Just putting a lil bug in your ear. ;) It's been 3 years. I don't think it would be considered repetitive. LoL (not to replace this one tho) -Poo/Steph

  • @sodpoo Yeah, it would be great to redo the Miss Daisy one and also the Fried Green Tomato one. Good to hear from you Steph! :)

  • At about 2:48 or so, are there 2 movie theaters right next to each other?

  • @sgtpepper1138 I think you are seeing the Variety Playhouse on Euclid Avenue. Thanks for watching! -Jim

  • This is one of my five favorite movies of all time! I absolutely loved it!

  • I guess I have to just "like" this video, otherwise I would rate it 1000 stars. When I was a wee little kid, I watched this movie at my great-grandmother's house. At the time, she lived in Druid Hills. She lived there for 30 years, then they gave her 30 days notice they were demolishing her complex. I also learned this movie was filmed in Douglasville, which is where I live now. I need to get this film, see if I can spot any local areas. :) Thanks!

  • @Beldar4214 Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching. -Jim

  • So, Jim, when I was born in 1956 we lived on Christmas Lane off Lavista. Is that about 2-3 miles from Miss Daisy's house? Atlanta's BEAUTIFUL and we left when I was 2! I would have assumed she was in Buckhead, but that might not have been allowed with her being a 'Werthen' and all.

Love how you looped the song, one of my alltime faves. I added it to my 1989 playlist, one of 425 lists letting you hear the music of any year back to 1895 and my 300 favorite artists.

A bazillion stars to you !!!

  • Very well done! And its such a great movie. Love it.

  • Great idea. More people should record sites from movies. And the soundtrack is awesome!

  • oh thank you. thank you. thank you. thankyou. thankyou. i have watched this from time to time but never commented on it. thank you soooooooo much for postin gthis. driving miss daisy is the BEST movie ever made. • Love this!

  • Hey glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and favoriting it. -Jim

  • check out my atlanta video

  • would somebody please drive my ass to the piggly wiggly ?

  • Good Job!! I Love It!!!

  • What a wonderfully creative vid!! You did an awesome job! The drive to the "sto" was my very favorite scene. You have no idea how often "Flap around some" gets uttered in this house. Be it about a he or she or a pet. I actually watched "Scudda Hoo Scudda Hey" the other day. Took me about 30 minutes to figure out where I had seen that title before. Really...Great Job!

  • Thanks Steph. There were some great lines in that movie! Thanks for watching. -Jim

  • Hey you forgot the old Brawner mental hospital on Atlanta Road in Smyrna. The exterior was used in the film as well.

  • I loved this movie and the music in this movie was great.Thank you for posting and sharing countrycomes to town.5 stars! Lisa

  • One of my all time favorite classics.....I especially love the scene where only Ms. Daisy knew exactly how many cans of salmon she had in the pantry and she accused Hoke of stealing one.....ONLY Ms. Daisy would do that....I believe she said she bought four cans of salmon at the Piggly Wiggly for a dollar....now,that is a classic price, I tell ya!!!!

  • I agree that's one of the best scenes in the movie. Thanks for watching! -Jim

  • I love the musicto this, i need to leanr it on my piano.

  • --great job--so interesting--perfect partner for a great film!

    Terry James

  • Thanks Terry. I had fun making this video. Glad you enjoyed it! -Jim

  • man it looks like the house hasnt changed a bit since filming. hopefully next year when i come back to Georgia i can go to that part of Atlanta and visit the house. and yes i agree, this music rocks! lol. easily one of my favorite movies. good post bro!

  • Never saw this movie, whats it about?

  • To Crimefighter9mm: It is about a wealthy, old Jewish lady who is no longer capable of driving her car due to an accident and age. Her overbearing son hires a chaffeur, much to Miss Daisy's dismay. At first she is reluctant to the idea, but soon embraces her African-American chaffeur. You'll see a succession of old and classic cars from the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's as time passes. The film touches on racial prejudices and religious bigotry in the Deep South during the Civil Rights Movement.

  • Hello, Mr. Werthan? Yeah, it's me. Guess where I'm at? I jus' finished drivin' yo mama to da stoe. Oh, yeah, she flap around some, but she's all right, she in da stoe. Oh, Lord, she jus' looked out da window an' seen me on da phone... prob'ly gonna throw a fit right there at da checkout!

  • 'Driving Miss Daisy" has one of the best theme songs of all time. I could listen to it all day!!!

  • Oh I could listen to it all the time also! Thanks for watching. -Jim

  • Nice!, This is one of my all time favorite movies.

  • Thanks. I love the moveie also! -Jim

  • Love it.

  • nice job on the locations!

  • I really enjoyed this like I enjoyed the movie.

You sure did your homework on the locations. Very nice job!

I can identify with the "Hoke" character :)

  • Hi Jim... i really enjoyed this, i loveeeee Jessica Tandy, i have a lot of her films including this one. Thanks for the ride.

  • Hi Millie. Oh I really like Jessica Tandy also. Thanks so much for watching! -Jim

  • Very nice I loved the movie. Thanks Jim.

Been to Atlanta many times mostly in the northern area, up around Lawrenceville.

    Allrn

  • Hey Allen. Thanks for watching. Lawrenceville is a nice town but getting congested just like all the Atlanta area. -Jim

  • Yes I know The company I worked for at the time opened a new faciltiy, and it was getting bad then.

    Happy Holiday

    Allen

  • Great Footage Jim. Riding with You Is So Nostalgic

  • Hey Doc. Thanks for the nice comment. I appreciate you riding along with me! -Jim

  • Beautifully well done, Jim. That movie is a classic favorite!

  • Hi Michele. It's a favorite of mine. Thanks for watching! -Jim

  • Thanks, Jim. This is one of my favorites. Miss Daisy looks and acts like my former mother-in-law from Columbia, SC. Her neighborhood also looked like Miss Daisy's. 'preciate the trip down memory/nostaglia lane. Yo High Point Momma...Love You Son

  • Hey Jacquelin. Thanks for watching! Miss Daisy reminds all of us southerners of at least one or two people. LOL How's the new job going? -Jim

  • This was very interesting, thank you for taking us on this little ride!! I love that movie!!

  • Hey Autumngirl. Thanks for riding along with Miss Daisy and me! LOL -Jim

  • Jim...I LOVE this video! Miss daisy is a classic and I really enjoy seeing the "modern" locales. You're an excellent tour guide ☺☺☺

  • Hi Ann. Thank you so much of the kind words. I'm happy that you enjoyed the video. I had lots of fun making this one! -Jim

  • Pretty cool~

  • Thanks for watching DasndeeDALLAS! -Jim

  • I haven't seen that movie since 1989. Wow!

Thanks for the tour of that area, Jim. Georgia has been the location of so many great films - I'm guessing you could turn this into a series if you wanted.

    (personally, I vote "yes")

    :-)

  • Hey Curt. Well I've loved your tour of the TV houses in California. I'll have to see what other ones I could do. Thanks for watching buddy. -Jim

  • The trouble I ran into with that was we were quickly running out of interesting places to go film. But hey, 5 installments was better than none.

Seriously, I think you have something here.

  • It's really cool to see some of the places that movies are made. Liked the comparison between then and now. Sunny says "If it weren't for the fact that she would have to clean the snow off the car for the 5th time today, she'd go and get the movie now." After seeing this she wants to see it.

  • It's a great movie and you can probably pick up a DVD for $5. Thanks for watching you guy! -Jim

  • A terrific movie - how nice to see the real area! This was fun, Jim. The movie clips and the shots of today made a very interesting video! I'm glad you made it! - roc

  • Hi Roc. I had fun making this one. Thanks for watching and riding along with me through Miss Daisy's Atlanta! -Jim

  • Hubby just loved that movie.

I will have to show him this.

    Thank You for sharing.

    Huggs

  • Hey Lana. Thanks for watching. Tell the hubby that Miss Daisy and I want to take him on a ride! -Jim

  • Thanks for the ride

  • Thanks for riding along with me and Miss Daisy dabiribd! -Jim

  • I enjoyed it. I don't recall I ever saw the movie. I think I have wanted to just to see what the fuss was about. Now I want to see it again. I had a CD once that had instrumentals of popular movie soundtracks like this one, Total Recall, Terminator, and several others.

  • Hey Dani. You'll have to watch it again! Thanks for watching. -Jim

  • You put a lot of effort into this Jim thank you. I really enjoy seeing places that have been in movies and because you put in stills from the film and dialogue it brought it all back. Cheers, Lesley

  • Hi Lesley. I'm happy that you enjoyed it! Thank you for riding along with Miss Daisy and I through Atlanta. LOL Cheers to you also! -Jim

  • AWESOME .... thats one of my all time favorite movies, Amazing job alana, thanks for sharing :)cherry

  • Hi Cherry. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed! -Jim

  • Jim, my grandmother's great grandparents, Tolbert and Celia Strickland lived in Atlanta during the 1800's on Peachtree St. I have always wanted to see where it was they were. And I loved Driving Miss Daisy! Thank you for the tour! -Cindy

  • Cindy if you can find out where they lived on Peachtree Street, let me know and I'll make a video for you! Thanks for watching and riding along with Miss Daisy and me. -Jim

  • Jim, I'll ask my mom to look through her old letters. I just did a search of mine and only found Atlanta Geo. But I know I have seen Peachtree St as an address somewhere. This vid reminds me of you driving your sweet stepmom! -Cindy

  • Cindy they probably didn't even use address back then other than the name and street. I know that I have letters that my dad sent home from WWII and they just have the name, city and state with no street name or address. Those were the good old days I guess. -Jim

  • Jim, I think you are probably right. That is what I have on the letters I did find. Thank you for the kind offer anyhoo!

    -Cindy

  • Wonderful! This is my favorite movie of all time and I was wondering if you were still going to make this video. Thanks so much - loved it. Of course, I'm favoriting this.

  • What is that darn song in the video, I know it but can't think of the name?

  • It's Driving by Hans Zimmer.

  • Very cool...I loved that movie and haven't seen it in years! Thanks for the tour.

  • Hey Mic. Well thanks for riding around Atlanta with me and Miss Daisy! LOL Glad you liked it. -Jim

  • I will have to go buy that movie now. I've never seen it before but I always thought it was filmed in Alabama for some reason.

  • Hey Dane. They did film them crossing the Alabama line on the way to Mobile, AL. Hoke asks Miss Daisy if he ever told her about the first time he left Georgia. She said no, when was that? He replied that it was just then! It's a very good movie. I'm sure you can find a cheap DVD at WalMart. Thanks for watching. -Jim

  • Jim, the funny thing about this: TODAY, I was reading about this movie and the locations from a book I have had for a while. FINALLY, getting around to reading it. PERFECT TIMING, your video and the book I'm reading. Your video is great. Thanks. Ronnie

  • Hey Ronnie. I wanted to find more of the film locations but just couldn't find any info so you might she some light. I wonder where the Werthan Industries building was and Bollie Werhan's house? Was the cemetery Oakland Cemetery over near Grant Park? Glad you liked the video. -Jim

  • Jim, I sent you some info via email.

  • what a nice tour! yeah i have seen that movie 50 times. it is one of the only modern movies that my grandma considers clean enough to watch. this was a lot of work, huh? well it turned out great!

can we do some GWTW stuff next?

  • Hey Lea. I had to Google GWTW to see what it was. LOL Yea, I think we could do some Gone With The Wind one of these days. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Jim

  • and you call yourself a southerner? lol, just kidding...

but it would be great...not sure what would be left...most was built up on sound stages i know. historical stuff then i guess

  • Wow Jim, you put a lot of work into this one! How appropriate that you posted it on Hanukkah, the festival of lights! Hanukkah marks the re-dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem after its desecration by the forces of Antiochus IV and commemorates the "miracle of the container of oil." Beautiful video!
