well, i am a drummer myself, and soon ill be posting A LOT of pumpkins song covers on drums because they my favorite band. and i would suggest watching other people play drums like on youtube or buy a cheap drumming dvd i see em at guitar center for like 5 bucks each. but what im basically trying to say is, you need to study the basic techniques before you can go any further. for instance, i learned to play by watching my dad for countless hours. you'll get it right sooner or later :)
I've been thinking about buying some DVDs. Thanks for the pointers :) I'm pretty overwhelmed with this thing... keyboard wasn't too hard to learn after playing guitar for years, but drums are a whole other beast hehehe
hmm wow, any updates on this puppy? I have been trying drum loop progs and I had one small 3 pad electronic machine, but I just cant seem to find something that is easy to pick up..
and well I was just thinking earlier of something exactly like this contraption.
I still have absolutely no skill, but it's definitely fun to bang around on haha. And if you can find one used and have the motivation to learn, I'm sure this thing will be just fine. Search yamaha dd55 on youtube and you'll find some videos of people who know what they're doing. This thing is pretty impressive if the right person is playing it!
Most important thing about starting drums is knowing exactly how/where to hold the sticks and making sure you don't play in a way that'll stress your wrists. Don't build bad habits! (sorry, teacher in me) Looks fun though
