  • Garth, this is absolutely outstanding! It's nice to see the moose finally getting his just due. Unfortunately for a split-second of the work, though, Kepler has now been exonerated in the matter of Tycho's poisoning -- turns out it was a hit job, contracted by the King of Denmark.

  • wow awesome video guys... the art is amazing I gotta know what program you used to make this. I totally love the moose at the end flying through our solar system because that looks fun... to be a moose... its the simple things

  • I used After Effects to make most of this. The drawings themselves were hand made and scanned into photoshop. I animated the different layers using the puppet tool in after effects. The final scene with the planets was created using Blender, which is a free program that is a little hard to learn at first but very powerful once you figure out some of the basics. The whole thing took about 6 weeks, working many hours each day. The moose really existed, by the way. It was Tycho Brahe's moose.

  • I used After Effects to make most of this, with the individual layers created in Photoshop. The planets at the end were rendered using Blender.

  • What an amazing combination of music and image. I love this! Great job Garth and Acid Westerns. I want to see more.

  • Excellent my friends. I liked Newton literally standing on the shoulders of giants, but what aout general relativity?

  • very nicely done

  • Love the disclaimer to:-)

  • Thanks for the kind words regarding the music. We'll be uploading a version featuring the full mix of Arcata Fog just as soon as we get it. Garth, as usual, you hit me with some serious celestial knowledge.

  • so great! love the song too. i hope more people get to see this.

  • This video blows my mind! The representation of Kepler's second law is pure awesomeness. So is the moose in orbit ;)

  • I'm glad you enjoyed that part. As you can see, the clock flashes at an even time, along with the beat. The sizes of the colored slices of the ellipse are determined by these flashes. When the ellipse becomes a painting, the painter is using containers of paint that are all the same size, thus implying that each colored slice has the same area, and the same amount of paint is needed for each. ---Garth
