  • I do love this song, I have since the first time I heard it but still prefer Ron Hynes' version because it was how I heard it originally.

  • In the original song the family name mentioned was not Oldford it was Over. The Overs lived in Tickle Cove and years later moved to Southern Bay. The Oldfords were originally from the other side of Bonavista Bay and a lady from the area married an Oldford and he moved to the Red Cliffe/Tickle Cove area. Either way it is still a great song.

  • my ggggrandfather was mark walker who wrote this song and there is supposed to be a picture somewhere of him and kit the horse!!this is my favourite newfoundland song great big sea does the best job of it!!!
