I guess that would depend upon the quantity and the amount of the loans. It is no secret that beyond just bad investments a very large portion is due to failed mortgages and it is no secret that those mortgages were given to people who otherwise could not afford or qualify for them, as well as, given to them at bad rates.
The lenders had the borrowers' credit histories and income statements. They had to know that the people would be bankrupted within 24 months of the Introductory APR expiring. That didn't matter to the lenders b/c they were re-packaging the loans and selling them to people who didn't see the credit or employment records. Yes, the schools should be better so the borrowers would understand, but the bankers KNEW!
The bankers and mortgage companies were not the only ones that knew --the people who took out the loans knew before they even applied they could not afford the loan. I do not think the American taxpayers should bail out anyone. I guarantee if I went into foreclosure the government would not come to my rescue and nor would I expect them to.
I agree that we need to educate people more, both in finances and personal judgment. But if I lend an 8-yr old kid $100, who's fault is it when he can't pay me back? I think the blame is 60% the lenders for advertising and trying to convince people that these 'no $ down' loans were a good idea. I blame the borrower's just as much as the lenders. I am against the bailout all together. I want to believe the government is attempting the bailout to save our economy. However, history has shown the market will correct itself. And I see no reason why we, the taxpayer, should be have to pay the price for others greed.

I feel that everyone knows someone or works with someone with a criminal past. I do not think it reflects on me in any way. Obama did not work with Ayers to terrorize America it was to provide better schools for our children. I would work with anyone who wanted to something good and have. I have planted trees and gone to PTA meetings with felons.
I have even talked with the ex-wife for the best interest of my children. She is a criminal as are her boyfriends but we both care for our children.

I guess that would depend upon the quantity and the amount of the loans. It is no secret that beyond just bad investments a very large portion is due to failed mortgages and it is no secret that those mortgages were given to people who otherwise could not afford or qualify for them, as well as, given to them at bad rates.

The lenders had the borrowers' credit histories and income statements. They had to know that the people would be bankrupted within 24 months of the Introductory APR expiring. That didn't matter to the lenders b/c they were re-packaging the loans and selling them to people who didn't see the credit or employment records. Yes, the schools should be better so the borrowers would understand, but the bankers KNEW!

The bankers and mortgage companies were not the only ones that knew --the people who took out the loans knew before they even applied they could not afford the loan. I do not think the American taxpayers should bail out anyone. I guarantee if I went into foreclosure the government would not come to my rescue and nor would I expect them to.

I agree that we need to educate people more, both in finances and personal judgment. But if I lend an 8-yr old kid $100, who's fault is it when he can't pay me back? I think the blame is 60% the lenders for advertising and trying to convince people that these 'no $ down' loans were a good idea. I blame the borrower's just as much as the lenders. I am against the bailout all together. I want to believe the government is attempting the bailout to save our economy. However, history has shown the market will correct itself. And I see no reason why we, the taxpayer, should be have to pay the price for others greed.

I think Biden is making a point about "I approved this message" being really meaningless. It's all about the campaign management, not the candidate and had they known the ad was going to be run, they'd have put a stop to it.
For what it's worth, McCain/Palin don't know anything about their ads either.
