  • marvellous,so relaxing, looks like a stan laurel and oliver hardy soundtrack....

  • It's a great genre of music. It always reminded me of these funny American movies, like westerns or something, but now, as I've grown up a bit, I realized it's something unique, though it's rather happy, cheerful, it also has a lot of spirit.

  • Dorian, great to hear these oldies again. Thank you for finding these absolute gems of old time music. Your channel is one I listen to everyday for a break from the cares of these troubled times. Again thank you for finding and uploading these absolute gems.

  • Yes, the CRAFT was alive and well, and practice, practice, practice. Entertainers had to have something of substance back then, to hold a crowd. Now, music itself is not so much the priority, but more the image, the marketing. Roy Smeck practiced for a year on some of his pieces before he performed them in public.

  • @Glaeken1961 "Roy Smeck practiced for a year on some of his pieces before he performed them in public."

Interesting. I didn't know that, but I can believe that!

  • I'm learning to play the Maple Leaf Rag, worked on a bit of the first part and am starting to really appreciate the hard work these guys put into their music!

  • More Please ! I notice that the banjo always sounds "harder" in these old recordings, is that just down to different recording methods or were different strings used ?

  • @jet936 I love his fingerstyle. I know the strings used before were not the same.

  • Dude!!!! I'm so glad your hear. I love all this obscure roots stuff you find and upload. AWESOME!!!

  • @noblesiner 1923.. maybe, the last year of ragtime.
