  • @CornellTreeClimbing Indeed, using a fully circular system is the key there.

Just one further comment, I guess it has been said on other videos but you should teach your students to use both feet in the loop, even if it feels akward in the beginning. First it is easier to ascend and secondly it causes less damage to the back because of the equal force distribution.

  • @irfp460 Well, sure, we do mention that to our students. Some prefer one, some prefer two. For Texas Kick I prefer just one leg. I find that a counter balance to standing up actually makes it less stressful on the upper body. But whatever. There is a lot more flexibility in our classes than reflected in this series of videos.

  • Very neat technique! Haven't thought about that before.

    Thank you!

  • @irfp460 You're welcome! We have found lowerability to be a key element of safety for our students.

  • in Asia we use our hands and feet very efficiently in any climbing so we shun ladders, inclined steps and/or ropes. call it monkey-do but it's just the natural way we conquer heights; that way we wont have to wait for somebody bringing climbing aids before we go up there or down even. yeah,we're all crazies when it comes to the human pursuits but man,it's fun and that's all there is to it. our girls do it too although they shriek a lot ea. time the wind blows harder than normal and sway the trees

  • Um why are you using rock climbing rope? Its a dynamic rope, you should use static rope, that wont stretch.

  • @MasonMcAllister What you see in this video IS static rope from Blue Water. Rock climbers have many kinds of rope; static and otherwise. We're using this at the moment because we have a lot of it. We've got other types, too.

  • great video. I have watched all of them and learned a lot. I was wondering if you would please post a video on how to assend a rope with a Petzl Grigri and a Petzl ascender??? Most people post videos that don't quite explain or show the detail that you guys make sure to include!!! Thanks.

  • Sure thing - there is already a video online showing this method. Check out "Ascending - Frog Type Systems"
