@freakloulou the difference is that hiragana is used for words that are from japan. Katakana is used for foreign words, which became usefull during the meiji era after the samurai when japan opened up their ports. example: cake is ケーキ keeki
im learning katakana but i already mastered hiragana. i still have a long way to go then once i mastered katakana. then kanji which is hard to learn but could be fun ^^
