That's actually surprisingly good how good it is playing that! My DELL XPS has the ATI Radeon Mobility 9700, and plays Minecraft maxed out averaging 60-80 FPS. I wonder how it will run some of these newer games.. Like GTA IV or MW3..
so ive seen tons of games being played on this aspire one even crysis so im guessing the new acer aspire one d257 will playthe same games if not better right? because i want the new one but i also want it to be able to playgames like these and i was just making sure.
No, that's from running a program called Fraps. It displays your framerate in any game. I used it to show what kind of framerate you can expect to get with these games on a netbook like this one.
@4oxtrot0mega4oxtrot ..well,i have aspire one 751.....it is 1.3GHz 0.99Gb RAM...can i run a game in it??i can't see any reviews of games using that model..... :(
You quite obviously have upgraded ram, I have an aspire one that can hardly play maplestory and you expect me to believe you can play GTA 4 well I call BS
ok, the only game i play on my acer is WoW, i want my computer to be stripped to the necessities so it runs as best as possible...can anyone help me? the only issues i have are with framerate...and say i was going to put the best graphics card on the market in there (i have an hd external monitor hooked up to it) will it run right? or is there other upgrades required too? please help!
Hey did you overclock your netbook,, cuz I have an Acer Aspire One 532h,, do you think, GTA SA and FEAR combat can be played on it WITHOUT overclocking or modification?
well.. you have made this video using which software?? i cant create video with typing letters one.. please help me!!!
another one, im using windows 7 starter SP1 with processor: Intel Atom CPU N450 @1.66GHz and RAM: 1GB, its a 32-bit OS, graphic: Intel Graphics Media Acceleration 3150 with memory 250MB, direct3D acceleration is enabled, so can i play the games in my natsys netbook?? thanks..
@MrChallengeLobbys I really didn't do anything special. All I did with any of these games is lower the settings using the game's own options menu. No special tweaking involved beyond that whatsoever.
@MrChallengeLobbys Some games don't require disks. For example, games that you buy on Steam. For the games that did require a CD, I just installed them by sharing the DVD drive from my other computer.
I don't have this netbook anymore, but I probably made an ISO file of my game disc and used a DVD drive emulator to trick the netbook into thinking it had a DVD drive with the game disc in it.
how did u get gta san andreas with radio sound? if buy the cd of gta san andreas and install it, of course its works with radio sound, speech sound. but, netbook dosen't have cdrom. how? mine just download at internet. mine dosen't have sound. please reply!
Oh, and yes... You should have no problem playing DoD or CS. If you're playing the Source versions, you'll likely need to turn your settings down to medium to keep it playable.
You're laptop is mostly decent, but it will struggle with 3D gaming if that "integrated graphics" is an intel graphics chip. It doesn't even matter which one. All intel graphics are weak. Sure, you'll be able to at least play the games featured in this video. But don't expect to turn the settings up on anything recent. Some games won't even be playable no matter what you do. Try some demos out. There's a Half-Life 2 Demo and a Crysis demo. Check those out. Crysis may not work at
In the settings switch your color quality from 32-bit to 16-bit. That was the difference make for me. Of course, all other settings should also be at their lowest possible values. It still won't be spectacular, but mostly playable.
Hey there was just wondering what games you guys would recommend for my acer asprie 4820t 4GB DDR 3 intel core i3 2.27ghz and intergrated graphics, i dont have a clue about computers or which games to get. I love strat games like football manager and used to play DoD and CS would these work using steam???? Any help would be great cheers
@ViperakaChater looks like you have a beast system, except for the graphics card, you can prob play games that are a year old, or new ones on medium settings. google the system requirements for the game you want.
@1minimee GET RID OF STARTER! upgrade! i did and i love it. Try going into setting and changing the Power Settings to Performance. mine went from 2.0 to 2.3 not bad but its pretty good considering.
It is Okay with it. I have worked with Netbeans 6.9.1 and visual studio 2008 works pretty well and now i have installed VS2010 it is working but a bit slow sometime especially when compiling for the first time.
If u dont bother about ultra fast machine this is will work for u.
can my aspire one run all this games? my model is AOD255 with intel atom n550(1.5GHz 1MB L2 cache dual core)2gb DDR3 of RAM,320GB of HDD and windows 7 starter.
I think it would do well enough with WoW. That game isn't overly demanding. Which is part of why they are so successful. I'm sure that you could at least reduce the settings and have it run fine if it seems to be a little slow at first.
No, your laptop would not be able to handle Crysis or MW2 well enough or at all. Unfortunately you have an Intel graphics chip on your laptop, and those are terrible with 3D gaming. You could probably handle games like Half-Life, Counter-Strike, and Team Fortress 2 with some graphic settings reduced. But you probably can't do more than a game that without very slow performance.
Hello idelporte! I have Samsung N150 netbook. Windows 7 starter, 1 gb RAM, GMA 3150 video. When I play GTA SA on lowest settings, its very laggy. Why?
Those games u can just throw in the wall is those GTA San Andreas,
GTA Vice City, GTA III... I can play all of those on my pc that have an 5.60 GHz CPU no grafics card but the processor is an pentinum 4 and that one is 3D completeble i have 504 RAM / ROM (DDR memory) Don't as me where the other 8 ram did go cuz i dono. I think i can do Call of Duty 1 on it but not shure if i need grafics card for it...
@ldelporte yeah dude it's real, got my aspire one this week and play San Andreas alot. I just went through my terabyte's games folder and surprisingly this ran. Other good ones are Serious Sam, Warsow and Dawn of War: Dark Crusade Necrons - all run on high. I'm in love with this computer.
This is the original Call of Duty (part 1). You can forget about getting Modern Warfare 2 to run on a netbook like this. If it even lets you attempt it, you'd be getting like 2 frames per second.
I didn't have windows 7 when I had this netbook. It was running Windows XP. You might try right clicking the game and go to the properties and tell it to run in "compatibility mode for Windows XP"
Did you know the graphics chip is severly UNDERCLOCKED? Yes, that means it is intentionally underpowered. I found out about this today, download GMA Booster - it boosts your Graphics clock to 400mhz, allowing for more performance. 5 day trial, and you can donate to recieve a free for life serial. Just a tip for the people who want to game on the acer!
You're welcome. It's an often overlooked setting that apparently can help yield those extra FPS. Generally 4-7 frames per second isn't that much, but when we're talking about 10 FPS vs 17 FPS, it takes the game from unplayable to playable.
@ldelporte hey. I want to run gta 3/vc on MY netbook (Toshiba NB255 intel atom GMA 1350 1.66 ghz 1gig RAM win 7 starter), but evrytime i start the game, i get this message "Cannot find 640x480 video mode." how did u get yours to work?? please halp!!
Hi, Idelporte, could you plz share your graphic configuration as well as the other ortions? I've tried to play some games as GTV san andreas in my aspire one but I still get a lower framerate than you... I've even tried to lower my system options to "better performance" (with no effects and that stuff) and played a bit with my graphic card configuration, such as anisotropic filter, etc...
All I did to make GTA San Andreas run this well was lower all the settings to their lowest values. The one setting (often overlooked) that I found makes the most noticeable performance improvement was lowering the color quality from 32-bit to 16-bit color.
@ldelporte OIC, thanks, because I'm looking fordward playing other games that run slowly like san andreas, but, if you can run san andreas like that, any other supported game could run as good as that.
Not too good at identifying a joke, I see. Trust me, I was quite aware that there was no graphical load at that moment. I was just having fun with the video.
@ldelporte Well I just bought one of these on ebay for about 180 (really good deal for what they are worth!) and once I install GTA San Andreas ( which really shouldn't take long), I'll get the mod and tell you how it is :)
wow im lucky to get 30fps on n64 games on my mac...FML lol. getting an acer aspire one this sunday though. I might post a vid response on how well emulators work on it.
wicked video man, I think I will get one after watching this :) Say, how well does GTA San Andreas run all the time? Do you ever get frame rate issues? and are you running this on XP? Also, did you install the games using an external DVD drive? Thanks
I have a Nintendo 64 Emulator (Project 64) installed on my Acer Netbook. It runs fine with no lagg or problems. These are pretty good gaming computers but some games I am not able to play because of the low resolution they have. I also play Halo: Combat Evolved and it runs like a champ.
yah but for those people out there that have E machines netbook's there screwed because emachines sucks i have a Macbook air and it will play most games perfectly if you are wondering i am running bootcamp thats how i play games
You clearly have no clue what you are talking about. A netbook will be fine with gaming. A game doesn't put any extreme strain on a hard drive. Maybe the CPU or the graphics card, but not the hard drive.
I did nothing special. I simply installed the games and played them with the settings as low as they needed to be in order for the game to run smoothly.
@ldelporte i love thoose games i hav a hp mini 1000 and i own gta 3 warcraft 3 plants vs zombies and nintendo 64 emulator and anyone of these never LAGS!! that so great because those games are vicious :D
how are you running these games without lag? i play 3d games like s4 league, perfect world and rohan, but they all lag really bad, even when the settings are turned down, D:
I don't do anything special. I just installed them, turn the settings down and they ran. Keep in mind, 15fps is not great speed. Any worse and the game starts creeping into "unplayable" territory. Also, online games may experience a decrease in performance just because it's an online game. There's also the fact that some games are just better optimized for performance than others. Your games may just not run as well on the weaker netbook hardware.
I think I had the same problem a while back. I don't think it's a problem with the netbook, but with the game itself. I wish I could remember how I fixed it, but I read some places that exiting to the menu and going back to the game can help. If that doesn't work, try right clicking on the shortcut and running it in Win 98 compatibility mode.
Turn your color quality down to 16-bit instead of 32-bit. That was the difference-maker for me. Of course, everything else also needs to be turned down to their lowest settings.
I did not "download all these games". The only ones I downloaded are the ones I purchased from Steam. The rest were installed from CDs. I used the DVD drive from my other computer over my home network to install. You can also use an external USB DVD drive. I think with netbooks, the best solution is digital distribution sellers such as Steam or Direct 2 Drive.
I didn't make the video to convince anyone of anything. I just made it to share with people how some games worked on that netbook. Some work better than others. This is just a demonstration to answer questions for those who may wonder if a netbook can run any games well enough for their standards. Personally, I would be satisfied with 15 fps while some may not. The video let's people see and decide for themselves.
i have the acer aspire one d257 could i game on that with these games ?, and also how did u get all these games from steam or did u buy them?

hi do you think i can play Battle Realms on a notebook like this ?
NeverSCARED94 1 year ago
TO EVERYONE WITH A ACER ASPIRE ONE:
Did you know the graphics chip is severly UNDERCLOCKED? Yes, that means it is intentionally underpowered. I found out about this today, download GMA Booster - it boosts your Graphics clock to 400mhz, allowing for more performance. 5 day trial, and you can donate to recieve a free for life serial. Just a tip for the people who want to game on the acer!

@lacacaesgrande
You're welcome. It's an often overlooked setting that apparently can help yield those extra FPS. Generally 4-7 frames per second isn't that much, but when we're talking about 10 FPS vs 17 FPS, it takes the game from unplayable to playable.

@HarryHyper
I was using Windows XP. Maybe if you try running your game in Windows XP compatibility mode. Try that.

Thanks a lot
JackStonexp 1 year ago
@JackStonexp
All I did to make GTA San Andreas run this well was lower all the settings to their lowest values. The one setting (often overlooked) that I found makes the most noticeable performance improvement was lowering the color quality from 32-bit to 16-bit color.
ldelporte 1 year ago
@ldelporte OIC, thanks, because I'm looking fordward playing other games that run slowly like san andreas, but, if you can run san andreas like that, any other supported game could run as good as that.
JackStonexp 1 year ago
@ 4ourTimber
Not too good at identifying a joke, I see. Trust me, I was quite aware that there was no graphical load at that moment. I was just having fun with the video.

@ldelporte Would San Andreas lag a lot with the SA'MP multiplayer mod???
Guitarmaniac4321 1 year ago
@Guitarmaniac4321
I think I've heard that it does. I don't have this netbook anymore, so I can't test it. Sorry.
ldelporte 1 year ago
@ldelporte Well I just bought one of these on ebay for about 180 (really good deal for what they are worth!) and once I install GTA San Andreas ( which really shouldn't take long), I'll get the mod and tell you how it is :)

Im looking at a Acer 10.1 aspire netbook.
1GB memory and 160GB hard drive.
Would it be good for playing WoW?

@konni1969
External CD drive, sharing a cd drive over my home network, and in some cases I was playing a game purchased via Steam (which requires no cd drive).
ldelporte 1 year ago
Cool, but how did you install the games. Netbooks usually don't have CD/DVD drives?
Konni1969 1 year ago
@Konni1969 there is a program called steam install it a check it out

I have a Nintendo 64 Emulator (Project 64) installed on my Acer Netbook. It runs fine with no lagg or problems. These are pretty good gaming computers but some games I am not able to play because of the low resolution they have. I also play Halo: Combat Evolved and it runs like a champ.

netbook not for gaming , when u play too much , ur hard disc well spoile , it pop a death blue screen u cant even repair it
takashima7 1 year ago
You clearly have no clue what you are talking about. A netbook will be fine with gaming. A game doesn't put any extreme strain on a hard drive. Maybe the CPU or the graphics card, but not the hard drive.
ldelporte 1 year ago 12
@ldelporte yeah but you have to have some ram and netbooks dont have alot

gdog124934gta3 1 year ago
I did nothing special. I simply installed the games and played them with the settings as low as they needed to be in order for the game to run smoothly.

Tell me about it... I am buying Aspire One and i want better graphics... I think that overclocking is best tool.
vanjastanic 1 year ago
how are you running these games without lag? i play 3d games like s4 league, perfect world and rohan, but they all lag really bad, even when the settings are turned down, D:
Arxilla 1 year ago
I don't do anything special. I just installed them, turn the settings down and they ran. Keep in mind, 15fps is not great speed. Any worse and the game starts creeping into "unplayable" territory. Also, online games may experience a decrease in performance just because it's an online game. There's also the fact that some games are just better optimized for performance than others. Your games may just not run as well on the weaker netbook hardware.
ldelporte 1 year ago
I think I had the same problem a while back. I don't think it's a problem with the netbook, but with the game itself. I wish I could remember how I fixed it, but I read some places that exiting to the menu and going back to the game can help. If that doesn't work, try right clicking on the shortcut and running it in Win 98 compatibility mode.
ldelporte 1 year ago
Turn your color quality down to 16-bit instead of 32-bit. That was the difference-maker for me. Of course, everything else also needs to be turned down to their lowest settings.

how is your frame rate so high?!?!?!

PLEASE ANSWER
so you had to download all these games??????? if u did where from?????????
PLEASE ANSWER
ZAM26113 1 year ago
I did not "download all these games". The only ones I downloaded are the ones I purchased from Steam. The rest were installed from CDs. I used the DVD drive from my other computer over my home network to install. You can also use an external USB DVD drive. I think with netbooks, the best solution is digital distribution sellers such as Steam or Direct 2 Drive.
ldelporte 1 year ago
What do you mean "be convinced?"
The video let's people see and decide for themselves.
ldelporte 1 year ago
3/5 gta games....
dont you think it's a bit false???
most run around 15 framerate
we need to see more games to be convinced
