After listening to a couple of Phoebe's albums, addictively, when I was much younger and having come back to it 20 yrs later, I had a realisation. There was nothing I heard, in all that time, that I found to be as beautiful and so beautifully sung. I guess I feel the same about Joni Mitchell and a couple others, but you're simply comparing infinities at some point.
This beautiful melody and its sister song, Poetry Man, remind me of a time (4th-5th Grade) in Columbia, MD when all was possible and my Mother was full of dreams and thoughts of the future. She sang Phoebe's songs, and others, for my sisters and I, to lighten the mood of a financially tough existence. I thank her for that and will fondly remember her voice in this era of song. Rest In Peace Beautiful Ladies!

Phoebe was truly unique. I loved her voice but loved more her dedication to her daughter. May she know that she no longer has to try and be a grown up and have to bear her life in pain. She is no longer lost but a willow, a lover and a mountain passing boldly through the clouds and never ending.

She had a truly awesome voice, with many qualities, range, timbre. But for me, the overriding one was that of 'warmth'. It really did touch your soul. She never really became 'main stream' but I think she carved her own niche for which she will always be remembered. RIP Phoebe - you were a real gem.
My Mom used to listen to Phoebe Snow all the time while I was growing up. She was a great talent and every time I hear her music I can't help but think of my Mom. A true talent who made the choice of family a great woman.

I type this as Harpo's Blues spins on my jukebox. Very fine record collection and fine taste, too. I recently found the PHOEBE SNOW album at a flea market and think opening track GOOD TIMES is also a great tune by this classic and esential singer.
I was born 1971 but I don't think Phoebe ever became popular (meaning radio fare) here in the Philippines. I just "discovered" her today. And I am loving her songs.

I was in high school when HARPO'S BLUES was popular and since then I am still enjoying her songs. Back then, radio was the main vehicle for a singer to make it big - there was no computer and other gadgets that are available today.
I've been listening tp Phoebe for years...Used to listen so much, that my daughter learned to love it too. She still some times sends remindewrs like this!
I first heard this album in an apartment in Cremorne Point, Sydney, Australia Day in 1976. Every moment of that weekend come back to me when I hear these songs. That weekend changed my life. For the better!!

My mother introduced me to her music years ago! I lost my mother this past Dec., whenever I get down, just missing mama, I play Pheobe Snow and fall in love with her and mama all over again!! God bless both fabulas women!!!

@DutchKalhoun The years and time she took off from her career to personally care for her brain-injured daughter gave her character more shine than anything she could ever have done professionally. 100% class in every respect!! Everyone is still hoping for a full recovery from the brain hemorrhage she sustained early last year.

I type this as Harpo's Blues spins on my jukebox. Very fine record collection and fine taste, too. I recently found the PHOEBE SNOW album at a flea market and think opening track GOOD TIMES is also a great tune by this classic and esential singer.

I was born 1971 but I don't think Phoebe ever became popular (meaning radio fare) here in the Philippines. I just "discovered" her today. And I am loving her songs.

@dodieymail Phoebe was popular in the Philippines and I will not be really surprise if you are not aware of it maybe because back then you were just starting to learn how to walk and how to talk. I was in high school when HARPO'S BLUES was popular and since then I am still enjoying her songs. Back then, radio was the main vehicle for a singer to make it big - there was no computer and other gadgets that are available today.

I first heard this album in an apartment in Cremorne Point, Sydney, Australia Day in 1976. Every moment of that weekend come back to me when I hear these songs. That weekend changed my life. For the better!!
