Mestre Leopoldinha is leading the songs while playing those people,looked like it was a special occasion. and I guess cos he is the mestre he could change the rules to whatever he wanted at that time. Didnt necessarily mean that capoeira was new to them though as Mestre Leopoldinha is a living legend! He's quite sharp in that video.

It is funny that they are singing a ladainha and the chula while they are playing.
Capoeira must be new to Ouro Preto during this time.
