Im not sure if my speedometer is just off or what, but mine gets up to 45 pretty easily. Ive had the speedometer maxed out and kept going faster, im guessing i was going about 65 (extremely steep hill and smooth road) haha

@jagmcool2 Yeah I recently took a GPS on my scooter and tested it. Basically I had to go to 30mph to be going 25mph, and where it maxes out at 50? 55? that was about 35mph haha. But I definitely was not going double that! You were probably running at 11,000+ rpm!

@MrLocoboy30 They're supposed to be limited to 31-2 miles per hour. But with a few simple modifications I usually go about 40MPH.

The thing that's interesting about 50s is that your speed and acceleration are completely determined by the road conditions, wind speed, altitude, rider weight (yes losing 5 pounds helps the acceleration), and other very small factors which are looked over when riding a larger bike.

In traffic I would be a little scared, but great on residential and country roads :)

@MrLocoboy30 You wanna start with de-restricting if it's legal at your age. (It's kind of a procedure, so if you're old enough there are websites that have step by steps with pictures if you search around). Next a good UNI filter works wonders and makes 'er purr. Then you can play with the roller weights, I never bothered because I like my stock ones, but if I had the money I would get a few sets to play with.

After that you can get a pipe, big bores, etc. But probably not worth it for now.

@MrLocoboy30 What brand? Personally, after all my experience, if I could go back in time, I would have looked on craigslist, the newspaper, thrifty nickle, etc. For a Honda, or Yamaha. I was so set on getting a "new" bike when I was young I passed up some gooood deals.

If you can, get a Yami or Honda, they will last until your have grand kids. Buy used.

@MrLocoboy30 If you really want something new, get Vento, or Fly scooter or something that has a "brand name". But really once you start riding you'll get to 2000miles and start to have real problems.

If you can (and I mean really really try) get a Honda or Yamaha. There's more after market parts, more parts available in general, shops don't refuse to work on them like they do with Chinese, you can rely on them, manuals are buyable, etc, etc, etc...

@frontier1701 What do you expect for such a cheap price? First off, i had a wildfire 50cc and it lasted me for ages. If you take the time to learn a little bit about your scooter, it'll last you a long time, just like anything else. Even if you suck at taking care of things, and it lasts you a few thousand miles, for less than 1k, you can't beat it, just sell the old one and buy a new one next summer, its still cheaper than most alternatives.

Pertaining to the carb problem:

Does the scooter have a petcock?

If so then you didn't turn it off and the carb flooded

@Reverseflush Actually I think it was that the carb float got stuck. And the scoot has an auto petcock and auto mix setup. Thanks for the help though :-)

@london1817 lol the fastest ive gone was about 51 mph according to the speedo but we all know they are a little off so i think maybe around 35-40 mph that is with an after market air filter (and down hill lol) i have gotten the rpms up to over 10,000 where it was hitting the rev limiter but i don't know how accurate that was lol

@psylenc aww yes the battery :) that took forever to figure out where they sold them. but to save you a week of frustration. i got 3 out of my 4 at a sunl offshoot website that had a ton of parts for the scoot, but i cant seem to find it. but i will try to recover it and email you back if i find it :)

@psylenc also the other battery i got was from a honda/yamaha dealer but it costs me $70... also in the meantime while i try to recover the old website (hopefully its still on the internet) you can try to go to the scootdawg forums, they are really nice and smart people when it comes to scooters and they will try to help you. and if worst comes to worst (lol) i'll sell you a couple of my old ones they still work (i found that out after i bought all of them...) they just need a little charge

I have a 2009 VIP future champion.. I just got it yesterday and I can't get it started! Any tips on what I may be doing wrong? Did you have this problem? I'm guessing the battery is too weak the first time.. so I tried kickstart.. and I think I may have just flooded it because it pushes gas out the bottom after I try kick starting it 4 or 5 times. So now I'm just gonna let it sit for a little bit and check back on it.

i think out the door (or in this case out the internet) it was $649 but of course i had to buy a helmet which was like $85 and gas and other things lol also i forgot to mention in the video i did half of the PDI on the scooter that stands for Post Delivery Inspection and i went to x1scooters com for it
