combing ur hair while wet = frizz city lol...i usually just pick mine out a lil bit after it's dried some...or if it's soaking wet from the shower or something i ring excess water out with a cotton tee.....for night time i try to moisturize my hair b4 i go to bed n then wear a satin bonnet...i'm noticed that dryness just happens so it's ok to have a spray bottle of water for day 2 lol...usually veggie glycerin n water is the bomb for moisture...my hair loves it
Your hair is getting pretty long as a result puffs and wash n goes will be a little harder to maintain. Ur hair will often tangle and flatten out. When my hair was at your length those styles only lasted for about 2 days sometimes even 1. Try twists and twist outs. If you want to give your hair a rest or just don't feel like dealing with it then try a protective style i.e yarn braids. I have them in now and plan on leaving and redoing them until the summer (I am lazy lol)
i use nature's gate moisturizing shampoo. I've been using it since before i went natural but i also tried the mixed chicks shampoo...i am not very good at twists though. i have watched a lot of videos but i can not seem to get it right. Thanks for telling me about the water. it does make sense, and i'll watch that video and see if it helps.
What shampoo do you use? Rather than shampoo, try a conditioner only wash every day or every few days. Most shampoos have sulfates too create suds but that is what actually damages our hair. I suggest you check out Chris-Tia E. Donaldson's book "Thank God I'm Natural." It offers SO many helpful tips for natural hair at ANY stage!
Try some twistouts. Your hair is long enough for twists. For moisture, use the Care Free Curl activator lotion. In fact, if you twist with the Care Free Curl and then do the twist out, it will stay moisturized. Try a paddle brush versus the comb for detangling. Goody makes a good one. There is NEVER too much water for our hair!!!!! That myth is contrived from the culture of relaxing. Our hair is dry because of lack of water.
