George Bush is an arrogant asshole! He's the maverick that John McCain wants to duplicate. I can't stand seeing his lying face on television any more and will be oh so glad when he finally takes his walk of shame out of the white house. He is actually proud of being the worst President of modern times. What a class "A" dick.
Absolutely trktrt, he is truly shameless, he has no soul. I have little hope that he will ever feel even a tinge of guilt for the atrocities he has committed. I hope I see the day he and his cronies face justice.
Bush is a puppet in a fascist regime who have no regard for life. Whether you are a man, woman or child, if you are in the way of the regime's agenda, you will be destroyed.
Do you really think that Bush and his administration care about what you think?
Be good little boys and girls and keep your mouths shut. The Bush team has a lot of work to do and they don't need interference from you.
The criminal element perform more effectively when left alone. Look away and pray.
Bush lied on everything in response... Bush is leaving behind a ravaged middle east, entire generation of American military bogged down, and, 4.5 million Iraqis homeless, nearly 1 million killed, economy in the tank and no airlines that we can fly in since all of them are grounded... :-(
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I beg to differ in fact The President has helped create bulidings, jobs, and better schooling for the Iraqi people thru our troops. So think before you speak!
Rebuilding a few schools while rest of the hundreds of thosands are being openly converted to Islamic Fundamentalist breeding grounds isn't "Rebuilding Iraq." Basrah, Baghdad, Kirkuk, Mosul, Nasariyah, and all other major centers under Saddam Hussein had more rights for women, and, if not, then at least in terms of education, equal opportunities in educational centers than any other nation in middle east. Thanks to "Your President," Iraq now have the least.
Iraq sits on world's 15% of proven total oil and gas reserves, yet it is being forced to import fuel for the past 5 1/2 years. Its education and healthcare was at par with western doctors, at least Saddam gave everyone in Iraq, 26 million people, 3 meals a day, and a "Car-Bomb-Free" life, which "Your President" couldn't. Forget about bringing PEACE to Iraq, Bush did not know difference b/ween Shia, Sunnis, and Kurds. General Eric Shinseki warned us, "700,000 troops or Iraq will be lost."
bush will not go down as one of the greatest presidents in u.s. history
radical islam is obviously a threat. bush didn't discover this. the administration has handled the threat of terrorism and other issues poorly.
what groundwork? preemption? first- preemption doesn't make sense if there is nothing to preempt. second- preemption doesn't work if occupation is tagged on without a plan.
oh, and WWIII is not coming, since Bush is leaving in less than a year.
Bush will go down as one of the greatest presidents in American history
The ground work he put forward and the things he warned us about will be more apparent to the fools and naysayers when we're attacked again and again and again

i love how he says some smartass(dumbass)remark to duck everything. ask him a serious question and he'll reply with a stupid joke. if you look at the people behind bush while hes being criticized they look totally uncomfortable. some of them are even spacing out. gotta love the general american publics attention span.
In all seriousness, this video is part of what makes America great. In what countries can you criticize the leader in power to his face and live to tell about it? America has its issues (hopefully to be corrected in 2008) but it's still great.
Yeah being able to express your views is great, but that is a basic human right.
Just because the guy wasn't bundled off to Guantanomo on the spot doesn't mean that there isn't something seriously wrong with the US administration. There is a lot wrong,It's just a shame that more people don't stand up and take note of it.Bush by himself didn't engineer this mess, but he has proved himself incapable of dealing with it responsibly. He should be man enough to come clean.
I agree with you on basis of freedom of speech. That is a great thing, but in terms of other forms of freedom America has a lot to learn from countries in Europe for instance.
What forms of freedom? Being free from taxation, being able to do with your own money what you wish? Or religious freedom? In Germany you MUST pay a tax to the church if you are a citizen. I do hate Bush and his administration, but even he and his 8 terrible years in office cannot erase America's great history. And BillyHub, you can fuck off. What great things has Australia contributed to the world? Russel Crowe? He lives in America, like any Australian with a hint of ambition.
What great history? Your country is only a few hundred years old and you've already tried to commit genicide against the native population, put an entire race in slavery and treated them like crap ever since and you've been involved in practacly every war since the 2nd world war either fighting or covertly, your country is responsible for surpressing freedom in other countries for its own personal gain south america is in a right state because of your on going forgien policy. What great history?
And dont give me that crap about saving europe in the world wars. In the 1st world war we had to take american soldiers off the front line to train them because they were getting slaughtered and in the 2nd we had already won the war in afria, we held off invasion of britain and broke most of their codes so we knew what their military was going to do before their troops did all before america joined in and it was germanys slaughter in russia that really turned the tide in that war
They won the war in the pacific, and let's not forget the massive amounts of aid given to the allies before they even entered the war. The Americans constituted the primary fighting forces in most of the theatres of the Second World War. There's no denying that they 'saved' us. Then they went ahead and saved western europe from economic collapse. The war might have been won by the allies, but it would have probably have left Stalin in control.
Im annoyed that most Americans think they won the war single handed. They werent the only army in the Pacific there were other countries fighting too. And all that aid they gave the allies was still being paid off long after the war finished. I feel like history is being distorted. They say history is written by the winners, it is rewritten by them too. According to films America won the war, the only time another army is involved is so America can save them. Media a very powerful propogana tool
ShackledCat, America conniving as she is, only did all that you mentioned cause there was a clear economical and financial benefit to herself. And if you don't know what they are, I'm sure davidcaspian can enlighten you given that he seem like a highly intelligent person.
Genocide? Most historians will tell you the Native Americans died of the diseases brought over from Europe. Yes, they were mistreated and we are trying to make up for that. And we enslaved the entire black race? Slavery has been going on in Africa for thousands of years, and the Atlantic slave trade began with Europeans, NOT Americans, so eat a history book you piece of shit. And it would be silly to think that Europe would've been fine without the US in WWII. It was a joint effort amongst all.
Yes the slave trade started with the Europeans but the Europeans also abolished it first. Your country was segragating black people until very recently. In the second world war there are reports of British people being shocked by the way you treated your black country man. Then there was Vietnam where black people were forced to fight for your governments beliefs. You have to notice that there were no black extremist groups in Britain. You should have a look at a history book yourself.
You obviously don't understand how America works. My "country" was not segregrating anyone - certain states in my country were. I'm from New York, and my mother growing up took a bus across town to go to an INTEGRATED school. Certain states did things differently because each state has its own rights in this country. It changed because the Federal Government clamped down on segregation. And of course England, with a 2% black population, had less black nationalist groups than the U.S. jackass.
You obviously dont know how it works here either. We have a large population of Indians and now Eastern Europeans. Where I live at the moment it seems there are more Asains than English but there is tolerance. It is not the same everywhere but generally there is tolerance it seems that the majority of America segregated blacks and foriegners including the government. Remember the black panthers and how they were slaughtered in their beds? The Vietnam conscrption? Your government was involved
You completely missed the point. If you don't understand look up "Federalism" on Wikipedia. America is the least racist country in the history of the world and you're condemning it because of the Black Panthers? They were a militant group, which is a little different than Martin Luther King Jr. marching to Washington, a man we revere and have a holiday for. Typical foriegner who thinks they understand how the U.S. works simply because they can criticize it safely amongst their friends.
Like I said, look up "Federalism in America" on Wikipedia. You're not from the U.S. so I don't expect you to understand, but the Federal Government was not racist against any particular racial group (except maybe the Japanese in one instance) post-Civil War. States like Georgia and Alabama were, but States like New York and New Jersey were not. And don't call me a moron because you're ignorant to our system of government. Read about it, and maybe I'll talk to you like an adult.
Mate, there's more 2 my life than wanting 2 dedicate an in depth knowledge of ur country's political system &/or history. My perspective, as I'm sure u'd appreciate, is base on observation like any other outsiders, which is enough to judge your country's values on human life. Ur effort in trying to hold ur grounds is acknowledge, however, unless there are dramatic & positive changes, it does not change my opinion on America and her people. Therefore, to me, u're still a moron.
Wow. So you just admitted you have no idea what you're talking about, yet you still think you're right, even though you have no proof or any argument whatsoever? Fine. Unless things change in your country, the only thing people will know Australia for is Steve Irwin (who's dead) and Dingos. You are lazy, ignorant, and stupid.
David, 4 a brief moment u had struck me as a person with at least a little bit of intelligence. But from ur last comment, u did urself justice & proved I was completely wrong about u . How u interpret me as having no idea what I'm talking about demonstrates ur lack of ability 2 fully understand the issue raised in response 2 ur die-hard attempt 2 convene your point of view across. Ur argument is becoming childish like. Either move on or be constructive as u have been until now.
Also note that I have not said one bad thing about the UK in my comments, because I think England is a great country. But you also have a pretty bloody history as well, so don't go pointing fingers at the U.S. The world's first liberal democracy deserves more than the shit constantly handed to it because of Bush. He deserves every ounce of criticism he receives but don't do it at the expense of millions of Americans throughout history who have worked hard to make this country great.
You see this is where we differ. England is not a great country, we have our sins from the past and present. All counrties have therefore no country is great. And I know of no country who can truly say that they are liberal espiecally America. Watch "The Power of Nightmares" and "The Trap - What Happened to our Dream of Freedom" (documentries by Adam Curtis) to see the failings of our governments past and present.
Fine, this IS where we differ. You can hate your country because you don't know what it's like to live outside the West. I have family who grew up in the Middle East and my family works with people in Africa, where they don't have the freedoms we have. You know what freedom is and have never been without it so you can spit on freedom if you like, but I thank God every day I was born in the U.S./the West. We are incredibly spoiled and though neither of our countries are perfect, they're great.
Freedom is being able to question our leaders and our society to say what we think without fear. I do not spit on freedom I embrace it but this does not mean that our countries can do what ever they want. I know in America you cannot say what ever you think without fear from societys outrage remember the communist witch hunts? The same thing is happening with "terrorists" and this country is getting the same way too. This freedom we enjoy can go so easily and needs people who question to keep it
You do realize you're posting that you KNOW "in America you cannot say what you think without fear," on a video featuring a man criticizing the President TO HIS FACE? People burn the U.S. flag on our streets and suggest that the government killed its own people on 911. I'm pretty sure people are free to say what they want here. Like you, I believe more freedom is neccessary and maybe people shouldn't be so PC about everything, but freedom of speech is a two-way street: to offend and be offended.
Im quite enjoying this I admit that I dont know enough about American culture to continue our debate on racisim but I do know enough about your government to say you are not as free as you obviously think you are I mentioned the communist witch hunts during which anyone with any link to communist thinking was hounded (say your postmans drinking buddy's sister was going out with someone who had Russian name, that would be enough reason to start investigating you) The same thing is happening again
The point Im trying to make is that although our countries have good ideas they are not infalliable. There is a lot of oppression filtering into our societies under the disguise of "anti-terrorist" laws and it wont take much to turn these democracies into a totalitarian rule by removing our civil liberties to ensure our "freedom" All it takes is for them to change the definition of a terrorist and we can be detained without charge and tortured for what we have written here. It could happen
Well, I agree that no country is perfect and that my country is restricting civil liberties at the moment, but I don't believe the current trend can't be reversed. I also don't believe it's as bad as it was during the McCarthy era, but the "perpetual war" rhetoric coming from the American Right worries me, like something out of 1984. Hopefully America can reverse this trend by electing Obama this year, but we have yet to see.
Davidscapian, its me again. The Aussie guy you told to 'fuck off'. I hadnt noticed your comment was made a month ago so apologies for my delay in replying. Anyhooo, guess what, since my last comment to you,I noticed that America hasn't changed one bit so that still make America a land where shit stinks the most. But its good to see someone so patriotic as you are son. Let me see you proudly wave that flag people wipe their ass with around the world.
Jesus. "...one bit so that still make America a land where shit stinks the most." Do all Aussies talk like cavemen, or is it just you? And at least people know what my country's flag is. Yeah, Bush sucks, but you had your own pro-war right-wing asshole Prime Minister up until last year, so don't go bragging. At least you gave us Crocodile Dundee and Kangaroos.
Caveman or not, least of all I don't lag moral and respect human rights so don't try to be patronizing by suggesting that your American-English is the only standard that correct. And Yes, it was a very sad period when that monkey name Howard was our PM, mainly 'cos he had Bush's dick up his ass. Also, don't feel to proud that people recognize your flag if its used only for two things, one of which was already mentioned and the other is to burn. You're a hopeful. But you have no hope.
Wow. So your grammar is terrible and it's because I'm holding you up to the American-English standard? Unless a language other than English is your native tongue, you have no excuse. And since I've correctly judged you as a stupid person, I won't bother repeating that I think Bush's disregard for human rights and America's all-around atrocious behavior of the past 8 years is regrettable, but to suggest that America is destined to remain in this rut is asinine.
Isn't it quite easy to just brush aside history as 'regrettable' & through admission eradicating the guilt? I also note with interest how u categorizing only the last 8 years as atrocious, which is by the way an understatement. Are you implying that outside of these 8 years America had an impeccable history? And I wonder if its better to be foolish or to be be arrogant to suggest the outcome of America given the path she's been traveling on?
Atrocious: "Extremely wicked, brutal, or cruel; utterly revolting." What else would you like me to say? You are the dumbest person in Australia. That's an understatement. And what country has an impeccable history? None. Don't forget, YOUR COUNTRY still has troops in Iraq, just like mine. No country is perfect, but it's obvious that by judging your poor knowledge of American history and foreign policy, your dislike of all things America is part of a fad that has been in swing this decade.
There is an on going foreign policy from the west that has systematically destroyed countless countries and governments. Your CIA is responsible for taking down numerous governments freely elected by their people, leaving dictators and war lords in charge because it contradicts your countries views. Your country doesn't bring freedom to the world, it brings war and murder and has done since the second world war. If you think a change of figurehead will change that you are really naive.
afx, we are in partial agreement. I am not a fan of the CIA, which often times acts in its own interests. Its dabbling in Iran in the 1950s and in South America has been truly terrible, but let us not forget that America was fighting a Cold War against Communism. It's "domino" mentality was incorrect (a lesson we learned from Vietnam) but it was a strategy for quite some time: overthrow a communist leader and it affects the USSR. For Iran there is admittedly no excuse.
Their strategy was flawed though. They assumed that every communist country was linked to the USSR which wasn't the case. Cuba was forced into dealing with Russia because of how America reacted when the Cuban people chose which government they wanted, which happened to a lot of communist governments. The smaller countries wouldn't be able to stand up against a country as big as America and had to ally with Russia, forcing a situation America said is was trying to prevent.
We are in agreement; the domino strategy was flawed. It wasn't until Reagan that we decided to deal with the Soviet Union directly. But the involvement in smaller country's affairs is a mistake many western countries seem to be making. Both our countries were involved with the Shah in Iran. I was rooting for Ron Paul in the election because he seemed to understand this but Obama seems to grasp the concept as well. I'd love to see the US pull out of the Middle East, not just Iraq.
It seems we do agree on a lot of things but I still think that none of our countries can be considered great. This involvement of our home countries in other parts of the world to produce governments that are in favour of western interference regardless of how they treat they're own people didn't stop when Reagan came to power. It is still going strong under the banner of globalisation. The west interfere in places they shouldn't and subsequently become hated around the world
I think we do agree on a lot of things, but I don't judge a country's greatness by solely the actions of its government. I believe the people of America and the UK are great, even though (speaking for America here; don't know enough about the UK) the government sucks. But that's why Democracy is great: change is possible. I voted against all incumbants in the previous election simply because change is necessary.
I also don't think foreign policy alone should be the basis of a country's greatness. America was the world's first liberal democracy and the first nation to seperate Church and State (I guess you could say England has some catching up to do with that one, eh?). I also look at the oppurtunities America affords foreigners entering the country. But America has certainly made mistakes and should have no troops in the Middle East whatsoever.
I'd say my country's view on religion is a lot more mature than Americas. Yes the Queen is the figure head of both our church and state but she has no real power in either. The Republicans in America is influenced heavily by your evangelical churches, with ministers even advising the president. Some of your states even force schools to teach creationism as scientific fact! The bible belt is the least tolerant part of America though the bible teaches tolerance and forgiveness.
Its not just the middle east that America is involved in. Yes that's what the media reports about because there is a lot of fighting, but the west interferes with a lot more countries than what the media reports. I'd say that the way a country treats the rest of the world is a big factor on how to judge a country's greatness. A great country shouldn't interfere in another country's freely chosen government then go on to support a government that suppresses human rights. This is still happening.
Our people aren't great, they are normal people getting on with life as best they can. We are no different to any other people in the world. Change is not as easy as you think. How many parties can you vote for? 2!! Its the same here. Fair enough there may be smaller parties but they aren't getting in to power. Over here our parties say the same thing in different ways while always disagreeing with the other side. That's democracy in action. A different party in power wont change much.
So by suggesting that no country has an impeccable history makes it ok for America to continue to ask as she has? And according to you, I lack enough knowledge about America's history. This may be so but let me repeat myself to you stupid, I only need to know what I do know about America to allow me to judge you, the likes of you and the country in which you now call your home. And yes, I will be waiting for your response on that and I shall reply upon receiving it.
Wow to Mr president for thy words omnipotent and Almighty =Absolute.A king is not greater than a fellow servant. shame to use absolute No!(Rev 19:6-21)lord have mercy .. (Mar 12;1-12).God bless
Once we all feel the pain that the poor, middle class, and military families feel, then things will get better. The neo-cons already lost the day they thought they could control us. Jokes on you assholes..
I brush this off like everyone who watches this should. George Bush did a lot of damage to this country..He practically took a shit on our constitution..but that's ok...this war he got us in, will not last..its impossible..and our economy will crumble if we keep shelling out money to pay for it.
I liked the America before WWII better, and only then, but after that period it's just like the naci's controled them and soviets and continued to live in shadow. Till today, we'll see how long it's gonna last.
A womans choice? sent to jail for no reason? tap your phone? ok abortion is murder, you dont get sent to jail for no reason, and if we didnt tap phone calls there could be terrorists in our country! come on!
Well, then maybe we should secure our borders instead.
Wiretapping is a waste of resources when we can't stop foriegners from illegally crossing the border. It's not as if a "terrorist" would be making too many calls. Bush said they tap only a very limited number of calls. With the 1 Trillion dollars spent in Iraq we could of had our StarWars Missile Defense Program, a secure border AND an Armada on both the East and West coasts!
Who is that guy? I'd really like to know. He has some balls to go on national television and tell the president what he thinks face to face. He alse kept his cool the whole time and expressed himself flawlessly. He really made ol' W look like the douchebag he really is.
He is a true patriot!!! Standing up againt the new world hitler. Republicans are the new clean, white, prim and proper nazis whom lie, cheat, steal and murder women and children. All in the name of power and money. Freedom is under attack by Republicans.
Why do you think the color RED represents republicans? The commie color!!!! And all the people they murdered.... their blood is as red as their symbol.
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!! This guy has real balls. Even though I thik Bush is idiot I would never say what I thought to his face. The secret service might kill on the spot because they perceived me as a security threat.
This "intelligent" man is the president of the sole superpower in the world,a country with the largest nuclear arsenal n the most sophisticated weaponry, the biggest economy:SO..leading such a country is no child's play or fool's game.He is takn a decision on behalf of 300 million ppl and those decisions affect more than jst these 300 million ppl . So I dont think he should do what he thinks is right BUT..What the 300 million ppl thinks whats best for them .
And i agree we dont have the "largest" but US has 5,735 active nuclear warheads, russia has 5830 ( not a BIG diff ) compared to UK which has mere 200 ( not really mere but comparatively). But my point is not the count of nuclear weapons. my point is leading a country with such large powers in all the fields is not a game. You need to play a game of tactics. US should act as a mature nation but we see a bullying teenager.
I completely agree. Just because the president thinks its right doesn't mean we should agree and follow him; because right now he is leading us over a cliff. I would also like to add that we do have the biggest nuclear arsenal, but we would dare use them. If we did then everyone else would use them against us and our missile defense system is miniscule. We would be putting ourselves in more danger if we fired.
BUSH ..... HOW CAN THIS GUY BE ASHAMED ???, HE IS A PSYCHO, THEY DO NOT FEEL ASHAMED OF ANYTHING, HE MURDERED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AND THIS GUY IS ASKING HIM SOMETHING AND HE RESPONDS LIKE THAT?? Do you really think that Bush and his administration care about what you think?
Be good little boys and girls and keep your mouths shut. The Bush team has a lot of work to do and they don't need interference from you.

EsotericDesi 3 years ago 3
Iraq sits on world's 15% of proven total oil and gas reserves, yet it is being forced to import fuel for the past 5 1/2 years. Its education and healthcare was at par with western doctors, at least Saddam gave everyone in Iraq, 26 million people, 3 meals a day, and a "Car-Bomb-Free" life, which "Your President" couldn't. Forget about bringing PEACE to Iraq, Bush did not know difference b/ween Shia, Sunnis, and Kurds. General Eric Shinseki warned us, "700,000 troops or Iraq will be lost."

radical islam is obviously a threat. bush didn't discover this. the administration has handled the threat of terrorism and other issues poorly.

I agree with you on basis of freedom of speech. That is a great thing, but in terms of other forms of freedom America has a lot to learn from countries in Europe for instance.
frsbkr 4 years ago

What great history?
afx2004 3 years ago
And dont give me that crap about saving europe in the world wars. In the 1st world war we had to take american soldiers off the front line to train them because they were getting slaughtered and in the 2nd we had already won the war in afria, we held off invasion of britain and broke most of their codes so we knew what their military was going to do before their troops did all before america joined in and it was germanys slaughter in russia that really turned the tide in that war
afx2004 3 years ago
They won the war in the pacific, and let's not forget the massive amounts of aid given to the allies before they even entered the war. The Americans constituted the primary fighting forces in most of the theatres of the Second World War. There's no denying that they 'saved' us. Then they went ahead and saved western europe from economic collapse. The war might have been won by the allies, but it would have probably have left Stalin in control.
ShackledCat 3 years ago
Im annoyed that most Americans think they won the war single handed. They werent the only army in the Pacific there were other countries fighting too. And all that aid they gave the allies was still being paid off long after the war finished. I feel like history is being distorted. They say history is written by the winners, it is rewritten by them too. According to films America won the war, the only time another army is involved is so America can save them. Media a very powerful propogana tool
afx2004 3 years ago
ShackledCat, America conniving as she is, only did all that you mentioned cause there was a clear economical and financial benefit to herself. And if you don't know what they are, I'm sure davidcaspian can enlighten you given that he seem like a highly intelligent person.
BillyHub 3 years ago
It was a joint effort amongst all.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
Yes the slave trade started with the Europeans but the Europeans also abolished it first. Your country was segragating black people until very recently. In the second world war there are reports of British people being shocked by the way you treated your black country man. Then there was Vietnam where black people were forced to fight for your governments beliefs. You have to notice that there were no black extremist groups in Britain. You should have a look at a history book yourself.
afx2004 3 years ago
You obviously don't understand how America works. My "country" was not segregrating anyone - certain states in my country were. I'm from New York, and my mother growing up took a bus across town to go to an INTEGRATED school. Certain states did things differently because each state has its own rights in this country. It changed because the Federal Government clamped down on segregation. And of course England, with a 2% black population, had less black nationalist groups than the U.S. jackass.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
You obviously dont know how it works here either. We have a large population of Indians and now Eastern Europeans. Where I live at the moment it seems there are more Asains than English but there is tolerance. It is not the same everywhere but generally there is tolerance it seems that the majority of America segregated blacks and foriegners including the government. Remember the black panthers and how they were slaughtered in their beds? The Vietnam conscrption? Your government was involved
afx2004 3 years ago
You completely missed the point. If you don't understand look up "Federalism" on Wikipedia. America is the least racist country in the history of the world and you're condemning it because of the Black Panthers? They were a militant group, which is a little different than Martin Luther King Jr. marching to Washington, a man we revere and have a holiday for. Typical foriegner who thinks they understand how the U.S. works simply because they can criticize it safely amongst their friends.

BillyHub 3 years ago
Like I said, look up "Federalism in America" on Wikipedia. You're not from the U.S. so I don't expect you to understand, but the Federal Government was not racist against any particular racial group (except maybe the Japanese in one instance) post-Civil War. States like Georgia and Alabama were, but States like New York and New Jersey were not. And don't call me a moron because you're ignorant to our system of government. Read about it, and maybe I'll talk to you like an adult.

Ur effort in trying to hold ur grounds is acknowledge, however, unless there are dramatic & positive changes, it does not change my opinion on America and her people. Therefore, to me, u're still a moron.

Also note that I have not said one bad thing about the UK in my comments, because I think England is a great country. But you also have a pretty bloody history as well, so don't go pointing fingers at the U.S. The world's first liberal democracy deserves more than the shit constantly handed to it because of Bush. He deserves every ounce of criticism he receives but don't do it at the expense of millions of Americans throughout history who have worked hard to make this country great.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
You see this is where we differ. England is not a great country, we have our sins from the past and present. All counrties have therefore no country is great. And I know of no country who can truly say that they are liberal espiecally America. Watch "The Power of Nightmares" and "The Trap - What Happened to our Dream of Freedom" (documentries by Adam Curtis) to see the failings of our governments past and present.
afx2004 3 years ago
Fine, this IS where we differ. You can hate your country because you don't know what it's like to live outside the West. I have family who grew up in the Middle East and my family works with people in Africa, where they don't have the freedoms we have. You know what freedom is and have never been without it so you can spit on freedom if you like, but I thank God every day I was born in the U.S./the West. We are incredibly spoiled and though neither of our countries are perfect, they're great.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
Freedom is being able to question our leaders and our society to say what we think without fear. I do not spit on freedom I embrace it but this does not mean that our countries can do what ever they want. I know in America you cannot say what ever you think without fear from societys outrage remember the communist witch hunts? The same thing is happening with "terrorists" and this country is getting the same way too. This freedom we enjoy can go so easily and needs people who question to keep it
afx2004 3 years ago
You do realize you're posting that you KNOW "in America you cannot say what you think without fear," on a video featuring a man criticizing the President TO HIS FACE? People burn the U.S. flag on our streets and suggest that the government killed its own people on 911. I'm pretty sure people are free to say what they want here. Like you, I believe more freedom is neccessary and maybe people shouldn't be so PC about everything, but freedom of speech is a two-way street: to offend and be offended.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
Im quite enjoying this I admit that I dont know enough about American culture to continue our debate on racisim but I do know enough about your government to say you are not as free as you obviously think you are I mentioned the communist witch hunts during which anyone with any link to communist thinking was hounded (say your postmans drinking buddy's sister was going out with someone who had Russian name, that would be enough reason to start investigating you) The same thing is happening again
afx2004 3 years ago
The point Im trying to make is that although our countries have good ideas they are not infalliable. There is a lot of oppression filtering into our societies under the disguise of "anti-terrorist" laws and it wont take much to turn these democracies into a totalitarian rule by removing our civil liberties to ensure our "freedom" All it takes is for them to change the definition of a terrorist and we can be detained without charge and tortured for what we have written here. It could happen
afx2004 3 years ago
Well, I agree that no country is perfect and that my country is restricting civil liberties at the moment, but I don't believe the current trend can't be reversed. I also don't believe it's as bad as it was during the McCarthy era, but the "perpetual war" rhetoric coming from the American Right worries me, like something out of 1984. Hopefully America can reverse this trend by electing Obama this year, but we have yet to see.

But its good to see someone so patriotic as you are son. Let me see you proudly wave that flag people wipe their ass with around the world.
BillyHub 3 years ago
At least you gave us Crocodile Dundee and Kangaroos.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
Caveman or not, least of all I don't lag moral and respect human rights so don't try to be patronizing by suggesting that your American-English is the only standard that correct. And Yes, it was a very sad period when that monkey name Howard was our PM, mainly 'cos he had Bush's dick up his ass. Also, don't feel to proud that people recognize your flag if its used only for two things, one of which was already mentioned and the other is to burn. You're a hopeful. But you have no hope.
BillyHub 3 years ago
Wow. So your grammar is terrible and it's because I'm holding you up to the American-English standard? Unless a language other than English is your native tongue, you have no excuse. And since I've correctly judged you as a stupid person, I won't bother repeating that I think Bush's disregard for human rights and America's all-around atrocious behavior of the past 8 years is regrettable, but to suggest that America is destined to remain in this rut is asinine.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
Isn't it quite easy to just brush aside history as 'regrettable' & through admission eradicating the guilt? I also note with interest how u categorizing only the last 8 years as atrocious, which is by the way an understatement. Are you implying that outside of these 8 years America had an impeccable history? And I wonder if its better to be foolish or to be be arrogant to suggest the outcome of America given the path she's been traveling on?
BillyHub 3 years ago
Atrocious: "Extremely wicked, brutal, or cruel; utterly revolting." What else would you like me to say? You are the dumbest person in Australia. That's an understatement. And what country has an impeccable history? None. Don't forget, YOUR COUNTRY still has troops in Iraq, just like mine. No country is perfect, but it's obvious that by judging your poor knowledge of American history and foreign policy, your dislike of all things America is part of a fad that has been in swing this decade.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
There is an on going foreign policy from the west that has systematically destroyed countless countries and governments. Your CIA is responsible for taking down numerous governments freely elected by their people, leaving dictators and war lords in charge because it contradicts your countries views. Your country doesn't bring freedom to the world, it brings war and murder and has done since the second world war. If you think a change of figurehead will change that you are really naive.
afx2004 3 years ago
afx, we are in partial agreement. For Iran there is admittedly no excuse.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
Their strategy was flawed though. They assumed that every communist country was linked to the USSR which wasn't the case. Cuba was forced into dealing with Russia because of how America reacted when the Cuban people chose which government they wanted, which happened to a lot of communist governments. The smaller countries wouldn't be able to stand up against a country as big as America and had to ally with Russia, forcing a situation America said is was trying to prevent.
afx2004 3 years ago
We are in agreement; the domino strategy was flawed. It wasn't until Reagan that we decided to deal with the Soviet Union directly. But the involvement in smaller country's affairs is a mistake many western countries seem to be making. Both our countries were involved with the Shah in Iran. I was rooting for Ron Paul in the election because he seemed to understand this but Obama seems to grasp the concept as well. I'd love to see the US pull out of the Middle East, not just Iraq.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
It seems we do agree on a lot of things but I still think that none of our countries can be considered great. This involvement of our home countries in other parts of the world to produce governments that are in favour of western interference regardless of how they treat they're own people didn't stop when Reagan came to power. It is still going strong under the banner of globalisation. The west interfere in places they shouldn't and subsequently become hated around the world
afx2004 3 years ago
I think we do agree on a lot of things, but I don't judge a country's greatness by solely the actions of its government. I believe the people of America and the UK are great, even though (speaking for America here; don't know enough about the UK) the government sucks. But that's why Democracy is great: change is possible. I voted against all incumbants in the previous election simply because change is necessary.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
I also don't think foreign policy alone should be the basis of a country's greatness. America was the world's first liberal democracy and the first nation to seperate Church and State (I guess you could say England has some catching up to do with that one, eh?). I also look at the oppurtunities America affords foreigners entering the country. But America has certainly made mistakes and should have no troops in the Middle East whatsoever.
davidcaspian 3 years ago
I'd say my country's view on religion is a lot more mature than Americas. Yes the Queen is the figure head of both our church and state but she has no real power in either. The Republicans in America is influenced heavily by your evangelical churches, with ministers even advising the president. Some of your states even force schools to teach creationism as scientific fact! The bible belt is the least tolerant part of America though the bible teaches tolerance and forgiveness.
afx2004 3 years ago
Its not just the middle east that America is involved in. Yes that's what the media reports about because there is a lot of fighting, but the west interferes with a lot more countries than what the media reports. I'd say that the way a country treats the rest of the world is a big factor on how to judge a country's greatness. A great country shouldn't interfere in another country's freely chosen government then go on to support a government that suppresses human rights. This is still happening.
afx2004 3 years ago
Our people aren't great, they are normal people getting on with life as best they can. We are no different to any other people in the world. Change is not as easy as you think. How many parties can you vote for? 2!! Its the same here. Fair enough there may be smaller parties but they aren't getting in to power. Over here our parties say the same thing in different ways while always disagreeing with the other side. That's democracy in action. A different party in power wont change much.
afx2004 3 years ago
So by suggesting that no country has an impeccable history makes it ok for America to continue to ask as she has? And according to you, I lack enough knowledge about America's history. This may be so but let me repeat myself to you stupid, I only need to know what I do know about America to allow me to judge you, the likes of you and the country in which you now call your home. And yes, I will be waiting for your response on that and I shall reply upon receiving it.

I know of a true conservative republican running to save our country. His name is Ron Paul. Please google him.

friend ..
So I dont think he should do what he thinks is right BUT..What the 300 million ppl thinks whats best for them .
m5tommy 4 years ago
"largest nuclear arsenal" We do not have the largest, however it is one of the largest.
southexpress 4 years ago
Just because he thinks it is right. Does not make it right.
southexpress 4 years ago
True..thats EXACTLY what i said.
US should act as a mature nation but we see a bullying teenager.

just doing what you think is right is not right, if its fucking wrong!
fuckthechurch 4 years ago
I completely agree. Just because the president thinks its right doesn't mean we should agree and follow him; because right now he is leading us over a cliff. I would also like to add that we do have the biggest nuclear arsenal, but we would dare use them. If we did then everyone else would use them against us and our missile defense system is miniscule. We would be putting ourselves in more danger if we fired.
hop208 4 years ago
"we would dare use them"--I meant "we wouldn't"
