  • I love Duke Special - a lot, but I have to say I think I like Neil's version of No Cover Up better that the original. Both fantastic covers, both fantastic musicians. Thank you so much for uploading.

  • Both are stunning. Neil doing No Cover Up is amazing, but the Duke's rendition of Mastermind is equally haunting.

  • The very beginning seems a bit high for Neil but he pulls it off <3 That version of "No Cover Up" is so haunting and deep- not to say Duke Special's isn't, but this just has such a different quality.

  • I wasent familar with Duke Special before this vid, but that song is wonderful, and it sounds beautiful coming out of Neil hannons mouth. I could listen to it forever. Same goes for the version of Tonight We Fly he did on this show

  • Simply divine !! Duke's rendition of Neil's song is amazing, he has such a beautiful voice. Both of them are so talented !

  • I Think that Neil Hannon is a better lyricist but I think that the Duke has a greater range as a singer (but this is all I have heard Neil sing in)...

  • Duke has way more emotion in his voice, Just my opinion.

  • Both are fantastic in different ways.

Duke is my personal preference though. I met him before.

  • To my mind, Peter sounds more emotional but Neil still sounds awesome and very refined.

  • Neil definitely wins. No doubt.

  • Very nice covers, Neil's slightly edges it for me though.

  • Wow, wat een schitterende versie van Mastermind, Grote klasse mr Duke!

  • WOW! they;re both just amazing, but i am deffo a Duke fan above Neil, he's just better imo!

  • Sames he's a home town boy what can you do plus his accent is one of the only belfast accents I can stand including my own

  • Love both of them, but Neil's rendition of Duke's song is definitely the best of the two covers. He just knows how to convey the emotion in his voice better- something that comes from 20 years' experience, Duke's just not quite there yet. I also love the one note he changes in the bridge to make the second piano phrase into a diminished chord as opposed to Duke's original normal chord. Simple, but ingenious. Much more effective.

  • I agree completely, I love Duke's music and all, and he's a great performer but Neil's songwriting craft is much better and his cover here has the same sort of desperate, wallowing ache, slowly rising into cathartic climax, that's present in his original version of Mastermind, and, for me, really makes the song.

  • Thanks for uploading. Still like Neils version of Mastermind better, has a bit of a darker feeling about it!

  • I am so grateful to you for posting the whole show. I wasn't able to see it, only hear parts of it, so this is just FANTASTIC!

    Thank you, thank you!

Agree...Duke so much better/ more soulful than Neil - and I love peter's version of Mastermind too.

  • duke special is 1000 timmes better than neil hannon defo.

peters version on HIS own song 'no cover up' CLASS

'mastermind' again peters (dukes) version WAY WAY better! than the original!!! xxx

  • I can't believe I missed this! Amazing! Thanks for uploading! ^_^
