@ESPxTele ya id def agree with you there...somehow the vocals do match the music perfectly...i wouldnt call it screaming id call it aggressive singing i suppose...
I really don't care what you other's say but Isis is my favorite band. But if you don't like that's cool with me. But in any case THIS is not Isis THIS is CoL. In my opinion just as good. And at this point my favorite band that is still together, then perhaps Neurosis and Mastodon
They are one of my favourite bands and the reason for them ending it - not breaking up - was because they felt they accomplished everything they wished too with Isis. They will all continue in other projects, such as Red Sparrows. They didnt want to push it and shouldn't do so if they're not confident in doing so. Nobody wants a terrible album to ruin everything they have done and in this way i believe you are wrong
Starting 4:08 onwards its a deeply religious feeling for me. I might have found the cure to my Isis withdrawal symptoms. Love both bands equally so please try not to hate on me and love the music instead.
I really enjoy this but...I don't hear anything from the 3rd guitarist or 2nd drummer that adds anything that makes me go "okay, that's necessary" I still love the sound of it though. Could someone tell me why three guitars and 2 drums make this band?
@batmobile13 its all about the layering as coinfaced said. 2 drummers give it a real rhythmical, almost tribal drumming feel. it the percussive element heavier which keeps a droning pulse during their crescendo-happy onslaught. a guitarist can tell you why the 3 guitars, but without the additional instruments, cult of luna would not be cult of luna
This band is RAD!! I hope they come to Canada soon! I heard of these guys from a really good band in Calgary called ATOMIS that stated them as one of their influences....now I know why! Check out myspace .com/atomis
buy the DVD. I bought mine, and watched it with headphones in my room. Ghost Trail is my personal favorite song on the album, the solo always makes me tear up; Ulrich ripped the solo that's responsible for that a completely new set of orifices, it's amazing, worth every penny of the $50 at F.Y.E. and the search for it. Go buy it, do it now.
People, trust me on this one. Buy the freaking DVD. It's amazing and the quality on youtube does not do it justice! Best purchase I've made in a while.
@mrbongsterweed I think thats a little dis-respectful for what Neurosis has done For the metal community but i guess u didn't mean anythin bad about it! This band are pretty immense!
@robzombie676 Alright. But you could have "expressed" yourself a bit more appropriate.. Isis is definitely none of those "sellouts" that deserve to be fucked.
sorry mate. the fact that all of the so called "post rock" fans in my area always come up with "isis is the best band evAr" makes me rage all the time..
shure they are no sellouts.. but everyone deserves to be fucked right? (;
This is absolutely perfect. The sound, the energy, the music. Musical perfection. Holy shit, do these guys need to come to Canada as soon as fucking possible.
They need to get off the fucking stage and interact with their fans! They sound like Fall of Efrafa and Neurosis, but look like Creed. Music is still amazing.
A totally superficial 1st impression, but his voice doesn't stand out or add enough for him to be just a vocalist. That said, as a whole they sound good enough to maybe fill the Neurosis/ISIS void someday.
4 minutes into the song and I'm eargasming, I'm so getting the dvd. These guys sound a hundred times better live, can't say that about a lot of bands these days.
I love their instrumental parts and how deeply emotional is their music, but seriously. They should work on some new vocalist. Guy is unintelligible...their songs might not have any lyrics at all and it wouldnt make a difference xD Its like metal scat
More like Post-Rock look in my opinion. Cult Of Luna's live clothing is just plain amazing. I'm looking forward to put up a similar project, although I think it'll be more Post-Rock than Post-Metal/Sludge.
I used a Meinl Byzance 20" Medium Ride to achieve the crashy but clear sound. Too bad I kinda broke it. But it was the perfect ride sound in my opinion.
The studio recording of that section is my dialtone for my cell, so I agree. And do buy it, nice to have some decent photage of the guys doing their thing. If you have the chance you gotta go see em though since it's on a whole different level that most post-metal outfits.
When the entire band slightly changes tempo but stays perfectly in sync -- this happens a couple times in the song -- it's fucking incredible. Amazing song, amazing performance.
I like this song & album very, very much... it is a perfect combination of fine melody and aggressiveness. Cult Of Luna made me a fan of extreme metal!
Are there any plans to just release the DVD in North American? I'm a huge fan and I already have the CD. I'd rather buy a DVD version but I can't find it anywhere...
Someone needs to upload more of this DVD. It's sad that this is the only professional live video of the band on here. The rest of them are fan shot with shitty quality.
I have a suggestion. Buy the DVD. You'll get the whole thing and you support the people that have spent hundreds of hours making it as professional as it is. Two birds in one stone.
I don't know if this is connected to the actual band in someway, but just in case, I would suggest that the band tour in North America. I'd really love to support the band by buying a ticket and seeing them live. If The Ocean (less known and still has a lot of members) can tour here, so can Cult of Luna. (referring to the interview on the DVD where they said it's too much trouble)
