Some time ago I learned to question anyone who uses long complex polysyllabic words to explain something very simple. When someone says something more complicated than necessary, they are trying to hide something.

Notice how Clif uses all these complex long winded explanations then takes a sigh of seeming frustration when he has to simplify it. People in general might interpret that as "You're not smart enough to understand" I interpret it as "How can I say this so you won't catch me lying."

They built up a lot of hype around the date and then said 'it was only a turning point, not a tipping point - we didnt expect anything to really happen'. That should have made that clear long ago.
