I Played one in red and it was sweet and played awsome. They had the action perfect and the bass is great Makes me wanna trade my Fender Jaguar bass for it but would take a beating on what they would give me towards it.
@dustindrums96 They are much higher in quality. The necks are far better and the sound is smoother and very consistant. But the epiphones are a cood choice if you are on a tight buget because they still look cool and play just as well as other basses in their price range.
I own it too but i don't really like it. I love the sound and the thin neck but it's so unbalanced, such a heavy neck and stuff. that's why I prefer my fender, much more comfortable. But I sure love the sound of my EB-3
@nbm53 Of all the 4 SGs. I have played, on here. This one sounded the best....but i was playing it in a much better/pricey amp. So if you want to make sure. Play them both. At the same time. In the same amp. As to the Fret's. All of them seemed fine. . Sorry i could not help, more.....
@Erock09291 lol yh playing bass on a standard scale and then getting a guitar in your hands you feel as though the guitar is a toy even though it might be a fender MIM strat
@Smoothbassistthatsme I've got this bass and slapping is difficult, because of the minor distance between the strings. You just have to move your hand in a different way than on a traditional bass. However, this bass was not meant to slap at all. Also many other basses were not meant to slap, but that comes easy on them by chanche
Hey, he's being nice. These bass can be slapped just like any other bass, but they don't sound as good not because they're gibsons, but because they are short scale. I love the sound of these even for slap too.
Thats a good looking bass, I'll tell ya. Im not diggin the sound though, im more a Rickenbacker and Fender guy, but its a good lookin bass, i will tell ya that.
i see a zakk wylde custom in the back

how much different do you think the gibson basses sound from a epiphone?

The sound of the SG reissue bass is weak and kind of muddy. It needs a choke in the circuit, like the EB3 has.

that E string looks grotesquely flimsy

Hey, man. You ever get a Gibson EB2 running around? If you do, make a video and give us a little feedback, please.

Is the Zakk Wylde a Gibson or an Epiphone?

@Glockenator epiphone

being a guitarist i feel more comfortable playing one of these than a jazz (or P) bass, because of its shorter scale

@sfedf1 I have a 35" scale 24 jumbo fret 5 string, and then I was fooling around with a tiny squire strat guitar, SOOOOO SSSSMMMAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!

Simple solution: don't play jazz on them and you won't get disappointed!

Any bass can have a great slap tone, just add some compression and your set.

Didn't think that, but. Know one can make me not slap a bass. So believe, i will. ROCKIN ON!
universalrenote 2 years ago 3
I can't believe you tried to slap that bass. Gibsons are made for blues and rock, not funk. Though I'm not dissing your skills.
