I've heard from some pretty picky gamers that it is in fact very fun. I'm just worried NiGHTS may not be in it, and NiGHTS isn't just my favorite Sega character--he's my favorite video game character period! He needs to be in this one! If NiGHTS isn't a Sega All-Star, who is?

the game looks great.. was abit supriced by the controls (used to crash team racing/nitro cart controls), but i think it'll work out great, atleast using items will be abit easier heh

Yeah, but this is clearly a Mario Kart rip off. Everything is identical, from the powerups, to the layouts of the courses, to the fact that everyone's in small cars. And we don't need anymore Mario Kart clones. Why the hell is Sonic in a car? That's one of the reasons everyone hated Sonic Drift. It's stupid. Sonic can run faster than the damn car. it's pointless.

And if you can point out a racer quite like Mario Kart that came before it, be my guest. But I don't know of any.

I'm more tired of Sega's crappy games than of Sonic running. I mean, Sonic without running is like Mario without jumping. It's signature classic awesomeness.

Sonic games took a break from "running" in many of his games, resulting in worthless gimmicks that failed (werehog, guns and vehicles, shooters, fishing, treasure hunting, etc). When I play a Sonic game, I want that neat mix of speed and platforming the classics had. If it's a racer you have speed but the platforming element is lost.

werehog was fine i actually liked werehog bosses, guns were just for shadow the hedgehog, sonic doesn't even do fishing, and classics are already gone, sonic moved on and so must the gamers i like every fuckin sonic game even if everyone hates them, the only reason IGN gives sonic games a bad rank is because they always compare them to the old ones and that's bullshit

They rate Sonic games badly because the recent ones are rushed, full of sloppy and broken controls, bugs, bad camera, framerate drops, and terrible stories and useless characters. They are too harsh sometimes, but they are still right to rate them terrible. Sonic games have moved on to a worse place. That's why "everyone hates them."

the only game with all of the things u have mentioned is sonic 06, i've seen a lot of videos of sonic unleashed, the black knight, riders and the most of the people liked the game so NOT everyone hates them, the only bad things were that unleashed would have been better of day stages and the black knight didn't have the freedom to walk wherever u wanted

Or take the sword gimmick in Black Knight, that doesn't respond a lot of the time and is delayed. Not to mention the fact that you're on rails, which means you can't really backtrack or fully explore levels. Furthermore, the game has a terrible 2 player mode and the single player mode is way too short. I could go on about all the aspects that are terrible about the 3D Sonic games, but once again I don't have the space here in comments and I don't intend to flood this section too much.

Caliburn is not a gimmic its a Gameplay Mechanic, gust like FLUDD, Launch Stars, and Recharging Energy Shields. The swordplay works fine in combos and with homming attacks and more inportantly works well in duels.

Putting the game on rails elminates the Z cordinate of motion that the 2d games never had either. And you could go back if it was nessary thru stopping and walking the other way. Sounds simple?

More importantly Infinate lives means you could restart wenever.

4. Some of them are decent, but all 3D Sonic games from Heroes to Black Knight have had some very bad aspects to them too. Take for example Sonic heroes. In this "team work" thing, Sonic is slower than in Sonic Adventure and can't spindash. Knuckles runs slow when you've got Sonic and Tails on his arms and his gliding has been dwarfed. Tails can hardly fly for beans anymore because of weight of Sonic and Knuckles. I mean, they're more efficient separate than together! What the crap?

4. Heros: Though its a bit slower its hard to notice, cause the whole game is run and bash. The bonus stages are a blast and a throw back to Sonic 2 Woo!

And about flight, that was a gameplay mechenic not a slight at Tails. It worked well for that game. Me and my Roomate still play it on the xbox.
