I've been a big fan of shogun since pride and now the ufc. I have to say shogun did look like he lost the fight. It was a very close fight and i give both of them there props but after watching the fight like 3x shogun did get rocked a bit by Machida's knees and kicks in the 3rd round. But i think the fight should have went to a draw. Shogun did throw more punches and kicks but he didn't push the pace but thank god they both agreed to a rematch on May 1 so we'll have to seen what happens there.

Let's say...Machida DID lose that fight. Who would u expect to fight Rua or Machida next? There's not too many contenders worthy of a title shot atm. I'm personally GLAD it worked out this way cuz now we get to see another worthy LHW title fight soon. Whereas if they gave the title to Rua we'd probly just see a couple pointless, boring, dominant fights on both Rua and Machida's part, leading up to a rematch. At least this way we see it SOON.

Machida will definitely need to step up his game for the re-match. I think he learned a big lesson from this fight. Don't just stand there at let a dude kick the shit out of your legs. Shogun brought nothing but leg kicks. Mostly to the back of the legs. This can't win a fight. A KO, or a few takedowns might have done it for Shogun. Bottom line. He didn't get the job done. Machide is the Champion. I'm done with this fight. Who gets Machida next????

@matrixlone they did count the leg kicks, but it just wasnt enough to outscore machidas crazy knees to shoguns stomic, all machidas counters to shoguns face, all the takedowns machida defended, the body shots to shoguns stomic, combos machida landed, way more then what shogun did....all shogun did was leg kicks the whole entire fight, and fail all his takedowns giving even more points to machida for defending them. It was still close becuase shoguns leg kicks were nice, but machida won.

@Exgangmember personally I wouldnt score leg kicks and i wouldnt count it as much as beating a fighter. To me its a pretty cheap way to win a fight. In muay thai,if a kick isnt thrown to put down or finish the fight it counts for nothing.

The only thing Shogun brought to the table was leg kicks. He failed to strike well, and he failed to knock -out or even knock down Machida. Machida had far more strikes to Shoguns head, more knees to Shoguns chest and head, and more upper body kicks. Sad for some , but Machida won this fight. 6th round and Shogun might have won., But there is not a 6th round. Shogun failed. It's not fixed.

This is exactly what I think! Almost every time that Shogun landed a leg kick he opened the guard and Machida punched his face (very fast). This happened so many times. We can check it in slow motion. Strikes in the face are more difficult than in the leg. Thats why the referees scored to Machida in all those cases. People get use to watch UFC as Street Fighting while the judges don´t.
