I see that on each of these videos, you use the right side brake handle to brake on the rear wheel, which is the opposite on Brompton bikes, or at least this is how they produce them in the UK. Is it a US specs or you modified them?
@ptripon Wow very observant! The models shipped to the US use what the English would refer to as "reversed braking" with the front brake on the left. One of those silly differences in standard across borders! The bikes are built that way in the factory, no mod needed on our end. -Peter
I had no idea the 3-gear was a hub. And the 6 gear combo, what ingenuity! I wonder why they even offer the 2-gear derailleur option. Is there a massive price or weight hike going from the 2-gear derailleur to the 3-gear hub? Otherwise I can't see the point of the 2-gear. Nearly all geared bikes in Amsterdam use a hub and I fell in love with this gearing system, very nice indeed.
Hubs are great, maintenance free and easy to use. The only down-side is that they add about a pound to the bikes weight. Most races are won with the 2 speed bikes but most commuters use 3 speed or 6 speed bikes.
@guyoverthre No, it's actually quite different. The 3 speed has a gear range from 47.9" to 84.9" where the 6 speed has a range from 33.1" to 100"
That's all pretty techy but you get the idea. The 3 speed gear range is smack in the middle of the 6 speed gear chain. The 6 has a bit more on the high end and the low end.

Is the highest gear on 3 speed the same size as the 6 speed highest gear?
