Cameras and solar cells differ in how the bulk charge is conducted:

Camera's use charge coupled devices CCD's. The electrons never leave their semiconductor which is insuated from the rest of the circuit. The movement of charge is 'coupled' to the circuit much like a capacitor.

Solar power uses photovoltaic cells:

Liberated electrons from the cell are free to flow through the load. But the electrons never leave the circuit, flowing in a closed circuit with the load..

These are what are called hidden cargo pants, and inside each pocket there are six pockets. See someone my age isn't allowed to look cool by having cargo pants so I have to have hidden cargo pants... so I have all the advantages of cargo pants without looking like I'm wearing cargo pants.

Do the electrons within the crystals ever get exhausted? At least in solar cells or in digital cameras because the electrons that have the higher energy (above the gap) get conducted away. If that's so, does that change the structure of the crystal or does it look the same only it's positively charged? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm relatively new to this but very fascinated :)

@stubbornVN Why would the same substances/atoms in other solar systems have different energy levels? It is not logical to assume that somewhere else laws of physics are different. There are no contradiction in measurements and predictions about the movement of celestial object. We measure also the emition of other stars - we find the same paterns as on earth.

Science is always under chalange - but you don't chalange it by doubting what is prooven to be right .... make a proof of the opposite (doubting is just the beginning part of the chalange).

@stubbornVN Sorry, I didn't notice that you wrote 2 comments before at the same time. But still ,you mention those examples which to me sounds more like topics and not examples. As far as I know of calcualtions in alternation on universal laws, it takes a minute change to make stars not to be born. For example if the gravity is weak it is impossible for a star to start fussion. And beavior of electrons like any other subparticle is governed by well understood laws, that make precise predictions.

i dont understand why electrons and light cant cancel each other out, but other types of waves like water can.

in an earlier video he explained thatn when 2 water waves canceled out, they summed up in another direction, so why cant this happen with light?

@piyowashere light and electrons can cancel itself out. Look at the pattern of diffraction of light when it goes trough diffraction grating - dark(cancels itself) and light areas. But it is neccessary that light is coming in the same phase and direction (as in a laser).

Blue is the highest frequency of visible light, If you draw a spectrum of visible light Green light i more intense, im not sure what you mean by "top" wave form.

What is missing in all these lectures is "string theory". If the professor would tie a string to his laser pointer and wear it around his neck, this would reduce the frequecy of the losses to the power of 2.

the thing that bugs me about all these processes is how are they sustainable? i mean, if you have electrons moving away from a material, how is it sustainable? at some point aren't all the electrons gone? there must be some replenishment going on, but i haven't heard that part..

@calvinhobbesliker2 From personal experience, it's because they're more interested in learning and getting things done. Women take up a lot of time and women tend to be, especially at younger ages, the domain of more dominant and aggressive folk who are not burdened with superior intellects. Women will say they like an intelligent man, because in their heads that's important, but their bodies and hearts will be won by dangerous alpha-male displays and douchbaggery.

Just for fun I created a group on google for this physic youtube presentation.
