I am a South African citizen. I am also an Australian citizen. I CHOSE to retain my South African citizenship, and If anyone ever wanted to take my South African citizenship, they would have to pry it from my cold dead hands. Pro Patria Mori. Yet here I sit unable to even cast a vote. Sadly, I have never voted in South Africa, as I was too young when my father and I left South Africa. My first ever vote was cast in Australia. My whole family (besides my father) are still living in South Africa.

Oh well, turns out I can't vote. I called the IEC and the ruling applies only to expats living abroad who have already registered to vote and registration from abroad is not allowed. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I wanted to vote for COPE. Because I believe the Freedom Charter is the one document that can unite South Africa. :(

the major challenge that is hurting our chances for a new voice in this country is that people feel like they have lost the race even before they have ran,dictatorships happen because ppl feel powerless when actually they have great power at their finger tips.
