  • Mixing powdered hemp hurd turns the cement earth mixture to stone...Adding weldbond white glue thirty to one dilution will also aid the congealing and totally water proofs anything it contacts

  • I do not understand that he speaks! Somebody write please that he speaks. I by means of the English-Russian translator can read. It has made землебитный the house and into the middle has inserted foam? Please.

  • A "sire" walled house was built near eugene or in 1995 by Outcrop INC...FYI :-)

  • does anyone know how to spell the name of the architect who built this house, having difficulties on google.

  • @chikezie313 Meror Krayenhoff - I went to college with Meror - very brilliant guy

  • More of Randy playing please.

  • AWESOME

  • I'm afraid that with this kind of insulation inside, the steam can't migrate all the way through the wall, and may condense into water INTO the wall, and that's a big issue for rammed earth walls.

maybe compacted straw (inside netting) would be a better insulation, because it won't stop the steam.

What do you think? I'm just wondering.

  • does anyone know of a readily available bonding agent that you could mix with it to give extra solidity? the chinese used rice due to the stickiness of he starch, but i was thinking of something a bit more concrete if you know what i mean? i dont plan on building one of these anytime soon, but one day the info might come in handy. thanks:)

  • @ChemicalMikeUK If you don't want to use cement then you can always use Lime or even Blood. Loads of info and ways to test soil suitability in my DIY Rammed Earth Manual available from my website. View my profile on YouTube for the web address. Thanks for watching.

  • "Dirt wasn't available until recently" (paraphrasing the architect's statement that rammed earth has recently become available). Dirt has recently become available? You want this nut to build your house? And then, he adds flammable foam to "insulate" an 2 foot thick fireproof wall of compressed rammed earth. Sheesh. Dirt is the insulator. What a nut. Perhaps he's doing this to convince people that dirt is unavailable, not fireproof, and only useful if he puts the foam in it.

  • @lambofGD His exact words are "rammed earth is an ancient technology that has recently undergone a revival and has become very popular and accessible in a lot of regions where it wasn't available before. It used to be that rammed earth was only in the hot dry arid areas of the world and now it's become available almost everywhere."

  • @lambofGD what are you talking about? your putting words in his mouth he didnt once say that dirt wasnt available untill recently. DID YOU SEE THAT HOUSE, its fucking gorgous why wouldnt you want him to build that. All natural, cheap and efficiant.

  • works great in climates and altitudes with extreme day time - night time temperature differences

  • Hi :)

I don't understand how the sun's energy can give off heat to the inside of the house when there is insulation in the middle of the wall. The cold/warmth bridge is broken by this insulation, is it not?

To my knowledge, when the walls are 50-60 cm thick, without insulation, the sun's warmth will travel into the wall but not fully through, then at night it will travel out again.

Have you thought about using trass cement? 5-6 % should do.

    :)

  • @MindBodyAndHeart You do realise there are windows right?

  • @Cstrife234 sorry, i don't get your point in respect to my comment.

  • These homes are projects completed by Terra Firma Builders Ltd, on Saltspring Island, BC. They are a Licensee of SIREWALL Inc. SIREWALL (Stabilized Insulated Rammed Earth Wall) is the patent pending technology.

  • @SIREWALL approx 2500 sq ft home constructed by Outcrop INC in 1995 on wolf creek road near eugene oregon. rigid insulation rammed in the middle of a 24" wall system reinforced with vertical rebar and 18" strips of geo synthetic mesh reinforcing 24" on center horizontilly between the foam panels. engineering design was by e leroy tolles. when are you claiming to have reinvented the wheel?

  • I didn't know it was necessary to insulate rammed earth. What would happen if the rammed earth wasn't insulated?

  • @kingmike40 It would be fireproof if it wasn't "insulated" with flammable foam. Dirt is the insulator---how long does it take to heat up or freeze the ground you walk on?

  • This is one of the best houses I've ever seen. Great job. Please let me know more...
